Funny things heard on the USS Gorkon

Vylaa had thought she was alone in the upper core area. Well, nope, that wasn’t the case. It would appear that an engineer had turned off the power to the parks fences and a velociraptor had escaped the island and snuck up behind her.

Turns out he was one of the crew.

And to say some of Gorkonites really experienced the shutting down of the gates. 😀 @Vylaa

Smog? It took Quinn a moment, and then she remembered something about a research project of Loxley’s. A miniature Maravel dragon, if she was recalling correctly, though evidently more of a pet. Dogs roaming the corridors, dragons in the holosuites, koalas living in small bamboo forests. She almost felt left out of the menagerie, and not for the first time, considered ceding to her daughter’s request for a pet.

They´re slowly taking over and we´ve not mentioned the most furry ones yet. @Quinn Reynolds 😁

Loxley: I think Tali was built at the same time as the ship, probably out of the same cold, unyielding metal.

Thank you for the chuckle @Hutch 😃

Tan: So. ::He grinned around.:: Taking bets. Next mission... nebula crabs? Expedition to Tholian space? Maybe something even weirder?

Stoyer:  Not even going think about it.

Tahna: Response

Stoyer:  With this ship anything is possible.  Most likely we will misplace our Admiral.

Hahaha, @Alleran Tan & @Cory Stoyer

Cory closed his eyes and groaned internally.  20 years ago.  The Doc looks like he is 17 years old.  What ever he was going, it looked good on him.

@Cory Stoyer that's a great question, can we get @Bryce Tagren-Quinn's skincare routine?!

She was a work in progress? More like a disaster zone.

OMG @Quinn Reynoldspoor Thea 😂

Tagren-Quinn: Ensign, sorry it took me a little bit to get back to you.

Tzim-Shah: ::gruffly.: Well, it's all right, I was just starting to put down roots here, after all. :: Puckering his snout:: So what, you patch me up soon enough, and I get a new arm?

Tagren-Quinn: Well, first things first…

Another one of those blue collars with a love of dramatic pauses... What was going on, did they learn that at the Academy? The same way engineers were given caffeine injections to be hyped up 24/7?

Quote

Tzim-Shah: Okay, well a couple more slices of me for Tali's shrine, I can live with that.

Quote

Tzim-Shah: As for tomorrow, let me see, I have a visit from Fleet Admiral Wolf to play some cards, then tea with the captain. A ride in the Triumphant to see if that tuna can have still any functional torpedoes left in it.... ::He let out a grunt and shook his head, so that his already tousled hair got a little more ruffled::.... What do you expect, kid, I don't have much to do. I'm on sick leave, you quack peeps told me to enjoy a gentle stroll around the Arboretum and little else. I only have a visit with the Counsellor in the late afternoon, if we haven't bored her to death by that time.

Making it hard for me to decide on just one thing from one sim, @Alieth! So much gold! 😂

Finally, the Gorkon's security officer satisfied himself that Thea, despite being a living, breathing, talking war zone, was not an explosive threat to the continued survival of the Sovereign-class flagship just yet.

I think Thea will fit just rifht in the gorkon @Jo Marshall😂

Meru skidded to a stop in the middle of the wide, green esplanade. Ena was adjusting her hair, which had been tossed about in the wind as she ran, her face flushed from the exercise. The second sun had set now, darkness barely having a chance to overtake Yarista before thousands of lights illuminated the city.

But this little park remained dark, untouched by the lights of the city. It was like a bit of wilderness in the midst of the technologically advanced city. Every single pebble, every solitary blade of grass, was arranged in a perfect mimicry of the untouched natural environment—or maybe it wasn’t a mimicry at all, and this park had never been tamed by the Tyrellians. It was so serene, not even the tiny hunting griffins could disturb the peace as they chased down the violet fireflies.

This doesn't fall under the category of funny, but I just wanted to share my appreciation for this piece. @Tahna Meru - this is so beautifully written! Love it!

The festival grounds, however, remained a dark, untouched wilderness, where trees grew in orderly savagery and flowers grew in a haphazard fashion amidst the tall grass. Stones riddled with multicoloured mosses sprouted here and there in the meadow. Despite the chaotic appearance of the place... there was something orderly and beautiful in its wild arrangement. An intrinsic knowledge of nature and how to make it flourish. Plants were not the only thing that thrived in the place, as here and there, where the groups of partakers were thinner, Ena could glimpse a swift griffin gliding through the grass, before they soared back up into the starry sky, throat glowing when they managed to catch one of the tiny purple fireflies that fluttered through the grass.

This also doesn’t fall under the funny category, but it’s so beautifully written. Nicely done @Alieth! I’ve really enjoyed these sims!

She started to sway a bit, and was thankful when someone finally showed up. It was not what she was expecting. The male approaching her appeared to be a participant in the local after school program. He looked young, however he was wearing medical blue, and Vylaa was in too much pain to really be choosy.

@Vylaa - 😂

Unless there was a Romulan rule somewhere that prevented mothers from killing someone in front of their babies?

Pretty sure SHOULD be a rule about it @Samira Neathler, it will save us all of a lot os trouble 😂

A glorious campfire, complete with burgeoning friendships, promises of stories, alcoholic beverages, chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers? What s’more could anyone ask for!

Bahaha @Bryce Tagren-Quinn SO glad you went camping!

@Alieth - Now, what is wrong with Security? They even allow explosions that take out pieces of the ship.

Ico: No, no, it's fine. I think I should talk about it, don't you? :: A reassuring smile crept across her face, but it didn't quite light up her eyes: As for my hope...well...you know I've submitted a request for a tour of all the departments? You know, to enrich my understanding of Starfleet and all that? I just... I just hope it gets approved... and-and that I don't go to Security first!

Howdy Folks of the Gorkon,

We still had to announce the winner of QOTM April - and yes, because of the tie, it took us an entire month of deliberating who’d be the lucky one.

But we can now firmly say that the winner is none other than our recently promoted Admiral @Quinn Reynolds herself.

We think that with a new rank, she deserves a new badge too.

Congratulations Skipper, well done!

Not funny, but quite beautiful from Tahna Meru;

"One by one, people began releasing their lamps. Soon, the evening sky was filled with artificial constellations, miniature red and gold and yellow and orange stars filled with hopes, dreams, blessings, fears, regrets. Purple fireflies still lurked around their feet, adding to the breathtaking scene painted from light."

A dog’s antennae was just their answer to the Andorian antennae, except on the wrong end.

I was rereading this sim and this has made me laugh another time, surely deserves a spot here @Vylaa !

Ah, shore leave! That delightful downtime between missions where you got to fill out lovely little mission reports, avoid calls from your wonderful family, contemplate your amazing life choices, and stay on top of your game for whatever new hell space would throw at you next.

@Tahna Meru — so accurate! 🤣

I've already shared this sim in appreciations, but I was rereading it today to respond to and this line deserves a place here, too:

Quote

Of course that wasn't going to be enough, of course if it wasn't scary it wasn't funny enough... what happened to people when they graduated from the academy, did they get a hypospray of permanent courage or something?

Hyposprays of permanent courage...now part of the standard Starfleet vaccine regimen! @Alieth
