    It depends on the character. If it was an alternate universe self such as the kind Vess had to kill, then yes. Likely quick and painless. If it's an NPC who is slated for death but it needs to be slow and agonizing because plot, then slow and agonizing. If it's an NPC's relative...well, that's different and likely have time to say good byes and such.

    Here's my viewing order, and this may not work for everyone. Movies: The first 10 (Star Trek Motion Picture to Nemesis) <-- note, since our game takes place after Nemesis, you should probably stop here with the movies. The Original Series Enterprise (Pre-Kirkian Era) (you can reverse this with TOS if you fancy) The Next Generation Deep Space Nine Voyager Most of the uniform images seem to be in the Nemesis style, though the badge types differ depending on the artist. :-) Hope this helps you out.

    It depends on the role they are filling at the time where I start the rank system. My first secondary (Cadfael Peters) I started at Ensign because I just made Lieutenant with Chythar. My first PNPC who later became my secondary (Carter Greyson) is an ensign, but some of my other NPCs like Merlin Emrys are crewmen rank. Devlin's easy: he's a dog -- civilian by default.
