  1. I feel blessed to have experienced this film without having had to watch it
  2. Congratulations, Ensigns, and welcome to the fleet!
  3. Count this idiom among things that I did not see coming.
  4. @Ras El Heem, demonstrating a clear understanding of the assignment:
  5. It's hard to describe the feeling one gets when @Richard Matthews sends a sim. Each is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're gonna get.
  6. With the caveat that I have not yet watched anything beyond the first episode of Prodigy, I have to say that Strange New Worlds, for me, is everything that was great about the Trek I grew up with, while also expertly balancing (1) modern storytelling trends, (2) taking itself seriously but not too seriously, and (3) the fact that it is building upon a franchise and a "canon" that is almost 60 years old. I am not down on any of the others (I enjoyed Discovery and Picard and I know many others did not!) but I simply cannot get enough of Captain Pike's Enterprise. Even the musical episode. Especially the musical episode.
  7. "It's midnight," I thought to myself, "I'll just read one sim, and then go to bed." But the one sim was by @Richard Matthews and it was fantastic, so now it's midnight and he's got me making a dang appreciations post.
  8. I love the visuals of this analogy by @Randal Shayne:
  9. I... am not sure this is a real saying, but I'll be damned if it doesn't work.
  10. Congratulations, and welcome aboard!
  11. "I've developed a new philosophy: I only dread one day at a time."
  12. Risky. It has never been canonically established that Hobart knows how to cook anything other that peanut butter noodles.
  13. Plus the fact that she's talking about snow
  14. Oh, sure, but Hobart's the bad guy!
  15. Immediately after he lectured an Ensign about medical ethics, even!
  16. Can I just say that no matter how many times I have read this passage, "fluked" is not the word my brain perceives without my applying force.
