"All that you touch you Change" - Persistent Writings From The OEB Brood

This entire sequence just lined up beautifully, I was cackling as I read the final part of this. @Avander Promontory @Morro Caras @Kimonzi Lahl

Quote

Promontory: Well, we have this mess hall booked all night, but at some point I should probably finish up some PADDwork. (wryly) I understand a junior officer shot their superior officer and, well, now I have forms to fill out!

Nis: What?! A junior officer shot a superior officer? That’s terrible! We hope they’ve been suitably punished.

Caras: What factors determine less or more forms? How epic it looked? If said officer gave it as an order? Speed and accuracy that would make a marine jealous? Asking for a friend. ::under breath:: quick draw McLahl.

Lahl: He told me to! And you were there!

Nis: Ohhhh. Uh . . . sorry

This...is a good promise to make @Karen Stendhal

She made a promise to herself to avoid explosions for a time, or at least to make an effort.

Maybe we need @Josh Herrick to try this too.😂

What kind of ribbon was it? An innovation ribbon? Was it the same one that CO and XO, not to mention all the bigwigs upstairs, had gotten?
Una was about to faint, but she gathered her courage and went to claim her very first ribbon.
Could it be more innovative than this?
Then she strutted away, humming to herself,

Qualunque: 'I got a ribbon, I got a ribbon...'

She's so darn cute!

Please...someone write this mission proposal. @Josh Herrick

Quote

Herrick: Ah Commander, how timely. ::looking back to the table:: We were just musing about our next mission… Would it be too much to hope that the FNS will ask us to go visit a resort world and provide reviews from a crew perspective?

This is normal for us, when are there not crew member making very bad decisions? I personally make at least 3 really bad decisions before breakfast. @Jania Nis

Quote

Nis: The other thing is, people don’t always realize they’ve got temporal narcosis. There could be crew members at their duty stations about to make some very bad decisions.

Nilsen: We can probably divide and conquer. I'm willing to bet at least a few of the things that we're looking for can be handled by their form of self-service, so we can hit that first and at least have something to take back. ::Beat:: I’ve had another thought: if we do run into a ::searching for the words:: a moment where our age is showing, we can pretend that we're enthusiasts of the 24th/25th century. Most people will accept an excuse like that, and we can adlib from there.

If there was ever a moment for Anton’s corncob bubble pipe this was it.

Richards: Tis a fascinating idea, ain’t it chap?

This tickled me.

YEET THE PROBES!!!!

Quote

Yinn: Strictly speaking, we don't have to launch the probes. We can throw them if need be.

Avander was bemused.

Promontory: Throw them, lieutenant?

Yinn: I mean just that. Literally throw them out of the airlock. Momentum will keep them moving indefinitely. It's slower than a launch, but we have plenty of time on our hands while we're waiting for the ship to be repaired. When they do pass near the portal, we can scan. The trajectory doesn't need to be precise, they just need to be close enough to get good readings.

Bolian Science Officer: Warrant officer Tedd, and this is the rest of the botanical task force. :: motioning to the four others::

Herrick: Response

Caras: … Task force?::trying not to giggle::

Caras didn’t want to be rude. But when he thought of a “task force” He usually thought of a hazard team like the 48th Starfleet Rapid Response Task Group. These shipmates were … certainly not that.

Tedd: We’re botanists and we do tasks, thus a task force. You might think it’s funny until you’ve got Phylosian bagworms. Then we’re your best friends.

This sounds right up Alora's alley!

Promontory: Damage, or any other sort of report?

Yinn: The damage sensors were damaged, which suggests significant damage.

This made me chuckle.

Anton was not “driving” and he sat staring forward thinking about just how unfair that fact was.

Nilsen: Anton, can ya get me priority one flight clearance from fight ops.

Richards: No.

Anton cleared them anyway of course.

Quote

Lahl: ::looking around at where they landed:: Lieutenant Nilsen…did you intend for us to be at the base of a mountain? ::looking up at the slope between them and their destination::

Quote

Lahl: Lieutenant Nilsen, have you thought about not hitting every bit of atmospheric disturbance?

Both of you 😂 @Anton Richards @Kimonzi Lahl Attitude

Caras: Not standing out is key, but with this Collector having a bunch of antiques maybe we can write the shuttle off as just that. A group interested in collecting StarFleet memorabilia. I remember my friend telling me that on Earth there was an entire subculture dedicated to pursuits like this. Civil War re-enactors? That whole bit sounds terrible to me, not sure why someone would want to reenact a war.

Yinn: Why would someone not want to relive the glorious battles of old?

Loq caught themselves and stopped. This was serious mission planning, it didn't need an opinionated Klingon butting in. But sometimes songs and stories weren't enough, you wanted to feel what your ancestors felt on the field of battle. Then again, their mind drifted to those Bolians who tried to recreate old sea vessels down to the same types of kelp rope the ancients would have used. They were obsessive and a bit ridiculous. But Caras wasn't wrong that that would be a good cover.

@Ensign Yinn Reminding me that Klingons were probably doing war re-enacting before the American civil war even occurred. Just on point Klingon roleplaying and made me chuckle.

Stendhal: So, to recap, Lt. Nijal will handle the fashionable attire, I'm confident that the AI of the computer will be able to help to provide some appropriate clothing designs for a party set 800 years in the future... Ensign Caras will figure out how to disable the security systems the old-fashioned way. 'Smashing them down'. Lt.Jg. Yinn will make it all scientifically plausible and keep us in real-time communication through her counterpart Loq. While I will diligently and emphatically scan for treats.

Because if you have to go on an undercover operation, you'd better get some treats for it.

Lahl: Get back in the worm where you ::ancient Trill cursing ensues:: belong!

Lhandon's eyebrows skyrocketed, but then Lahl faced the rest of the team and looked back at her tricorder as if she was back in control of her own body. Lhandon was starting to get an idea of what was happening, although he didn't quite understand what "detrilled cursing" was. He was pretty sure he didn't want to be called the words Lahl used.

I don’t think anyone wants to be called the words Lahl used… 😝

Caras: Miss… miss.. Miss D’vine? Miss D? Miss I need the sword, I’m the dread captain’s special boy tonight.

Looks like the crew is having fun at their party.

There are two puppies on this ship. They are two very good boys...I mean officers...they are very good officers. Do not misconstrue this 😂

Quote

Nilsen: A diplomat? I like the sound of him already. ::trying to keep the mood up:: reckon he can get my course done for me. I’ve been stuck on this essay for weeks…or centuries rather.

Avander tried to parse Lhandon’s words without success, until he remembered that the lieutenant was doing distance learning courses in diplomacy.

oO Can you imagine that! Oo The overgrown puppy would make an interesting diplomatic officer.

Quote

Caras: At… at least come with me. Tell her I did a good job.

Caras made the best puppy dog eyes he could at D’vina. He was legitimately scared, but probably not for the reasons she thought. She shoved the sword into his arms. He was holding it wrong. He just looked like a mess as his intoxicated friends hopefully were almost finished behind him.

Nailed it!
