Popular Post Dekas Posted September 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) With the new ship up and going now, it's time for an appreciative quote thread. Did someone write a quote that was hysterical? Absolutely soul-destroying? Or maybe just the best thing you've ever seen? Well post about those little quotes here. I'll go first. This little interaction between @Karrod Niac and @Toryn Raga from their intro JP made me snort. 🤣 Quote Niac: Thanks Number One. I’m starting to see why you came so highly recommended by Captain Mei’Konda. Hopefully my dress whites are in one of the crates that already made it to my quarters or this is going to be a very awkward introduction to the crew. Number One. It was going to take some time getting used to being called that. Raga: Of course. ::He smirked:: If all else fails we can replicate you some skants. Karrod gawped, blinked, then barked a laugh that caused the nearest pile of padds to rattle apart and scatter across his desk. Niac: If I show up in skants they’ll have me out the airlock before the end of the day. Besides, we’d need the main phaser array to shave my legs and the last engineering report I read said it’s still offline. ::Karrod stood and stretched his back with a groan.:: Let's go, you can make sure I don’t get lost. I’m still getting used to a ship where the Bridge isn’t on deck one. Edited September 20, 2023 by Dekas 4 1 11 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 20, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 20, 2023 An optimistic look on pessimism from @Kammus Corelli 😆 Quote Corelli: I am hopeful. I usually set myself up for disappointment, that way I can be pleasantly surprised when things don’t go terribly wrong. 4 4 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 20, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 20, 2023 Okay, actually also this tiny little interaction between @VLen Kel and @Kammus Corelli from the same sim. Also excellent. Quote Corelli: Ah, you’ll be fine. Just go sit up front. Try not to think about speed, or gravity, or death, or anything else you normally think about. Kel: ::Chuckling:: Have you ever considered medicine Mr. Corelli? Corelli: If its anything like consoling young engineers, I’m an expert! 9 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 20, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 20, 2023 And then this from @Alieth. The writing for it is just so nicely done. Also, we have a dog on the ship and I'm excited. Quote As expected and in the most Vulcan way possible, she arrived just in time for the inaugural speech of her new post. Something that seemed to excite the mastiff, tired of being confined in the small shuttle and, before that, in the oppressive heat of Vulcan. After all, the dog had lived more in space than on the surface of any planet, and the stars and the Fleet's ships were her home. Would this new old ship full of strange strangers be Alieth's home as well? That was something that was yet to be seen. 7 1 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 20, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) This from @Quentin Collins III's new character Kirsty Carpenter. "In front of a TEXAN no less." 👌 Quote And, despite herself and the deep, still receding embarrassment directed toward herself for losing control like that (oO In front of a TEXAN no less. God...Oo), she couldn't help but be charmed by the jib she cut. Edited September 20, 2023 by Dekas 1 1 3 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 21, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 21, 2023 Listen, I know the whole sim this quote is from was put on the appreciations (and for good reason), but this beginning bit from it in particular keeps sending me every time I look at it from Gott, as written by @Karrod Niac because "gefselfblibnated" is quite the word 😆 Quote It was well known by the more educated members of polite society in what was generously called the civilized galaxy that the exquisite Ferengi language had no fewer than one hundred and seventy-eight different ways of describing rain. The lesser known but no less important linguistic oddity was that the language also contained nearly seven hundred and fifty ways of describing relaxed and, at this very moment, Doctor Gott was entirely gefselfblibnated. 1 8 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 27, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 27, 2023 @Toryn Raga I love Kelv. 10/10 on the sass. 😆 Quote Gott: Because Ferengi are naturally sensitive to animal dander and those disgusting dogs just spread it around all over the place. I hope you don't intend to allow that...that...thing to wander around in here in anything less than a containment field! Kelv: And ruin a perfectly good way to repel you from coming on board? You’ve Gott to be kidding. ::she cackled:: The dog is Starfleet so they have more leeway here than you. ::To Dekas:: I say we just put him in a containment field instead. At least we’ll know where he is at all times. 2 1 2 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted September 28, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 28, 2023 I'm just going to say it, I think the way @Kammus Corelli uses his words is very fun. Quote Corelli: Right, yes, I understand the whole ship is about to fall apart and nothing is correct, we're all gonna die, that's normal. And Quote Corelli: Well, this is not the morning meetings, so I won't call you to attention. But understand this, we need to get these problems solved. I'm sure your faulty isolinear processor in replicator four thousand isn't really going to affect the running of the ship. I know someone that outranks you told you it needed to be solved immediately. But, and just follow me on this, don't you think - I could be wrong - that the warp core falling out the bottom of the ship is maybe just slightly perhaps more important on the level of things that need to be solved immediately than a non-working replicator? 5 5 Quote
Popular Post Alieth Posted October 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 1, 2023 Quote She was right, the Ronin was all but a shell of itself, but a good shell at that. Almost like the Akira Class was wrapped in bubble wrap. @Marty Tucker isn't wrong 😂 1 5 Quote
Popular Post Marty Tucker Posted October 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 4, 2023 Quote Niac: Thank you for putting it so succinctly, Ensign, but lets not put the nacelles in front of the saucer. Get the ship clear of our moorings without scratching the paint and we can discuss punching the laws of physics in the face. Deal? @Karrod Niac I literally laughed out loud, people looking at me like I'm some sort of loon. lol 3 5 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted October 6, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted October 6, 2023 I love a good "Probably" at the end of a sentence, like this from @Ian OConnor. You have to love the moment of doubt. It's fine. It's probably fine. Quote Ian heard the CO pacing behind him. Ian knew the man was just as ready to get going as he was. This ship was ready to fly. oO Probably. Oo 6 Quote
Popular Post + Gila Sadar Posted October 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2023 Quote Niac: =/\= Attention all hands, we are about to get underway. You have performed admirably in getting our ship ready for this mission and I'm confident we can face whatever is waiting for us out there. Secure your stations and standby for warp speed. Remember...a ship may be safe in harbor but that is not what ships are for. Niac..out.=/\= @Karrod Niac That last line! Goosebumps! May your shakedown cruise bring plenty of hijinks, accursed Ronnies! ❤️ 3 1 5 Quote
Popular Post + Gila Sadar Posted October 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2023 Quote Shayne: =/\=Arrow is ready to depart when you are, Captain Niac. =/\= Karrod stood and strode towards the viewscreen with a measured gait, thinking of some of the more officious and cliche things he could say at such a singular moment in his career. The launch of the very first vessel under his command. A new era for the Alpha Isles, as the Starfleet Press Corps and Federation News Service were loudly proclaiming it. It was a moment for pageantry as far as Starfleet Command was concerned and had invited representatives here from a large number of local unaligned species for a chance to fly the flag in front of prospective allies. It was a moment Karrod would remember for the rest of his existence and, thanks to Niac, for lifetimes beyond imagining. Niac: =/\= We’re…uh…stuck, Captain. =/\= It wasn’t quite what Karrod had imagined it to be but, some small part of him intoned, it would be quite memorable. Also from the same sim, ‘cause it’s criminal that this exchange and bit of internal monologue wasn’t in here already! 😤 3 1 5 Quote
Popular Post Alieth Posted October 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2023 @VLen Kelgot it perfectly 😂 Quote Kel: You could pet the dog. Rox: ::eyes going wide:: You see it too. Kel: Of course I see it. She's a member of staff. Yesterday she came and stared at me until I replicated her a biscuit. She's a being who knows what she wants. 3 5 Quote
Popular Post Alieth Posted October 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2023 @LuxaLorana dont... just don't step in the medbay... ever 😂 Quote Luxa's eyes widened in horror, she remembered her first aid and field medicine class at the academy. Five of her simulated patients died and she had to resit the test four times. Her Vulcan professor declared to all who'd listen that it was logical for her to avoid medical sciences for the good of Starfleet. She did not disagree and had done her best to comply ever since. 2 6 Quote
Popular Post VLen Kel Posted October 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2023 Quote Niac: Well done gentlemen, that was flawlessly executed. Any issues crop up during the trip I haven't heard about? Raga: You mean aside from the doors that won’t always open or the holodeck that’s stuck playing Andorian showtunes? V’Len: ::walks away quickly:: 1 9 Quote
Popular Post + Gila Sadar Posted October 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 7, 2023 Quote The trip from deck 3 and 10 was much slower than Alieth expected. Of course, it had absolutely nothing to do with her taking a turn in the wrong direction, following her habit of getting lost on ships until weeks (or months) into serving on board. Of course, it was absolutely untrue that she had less sense of direction than a limping, blind myrmidex on a space station, it was just that her mind was too busy on the next steps she needed to take. Of course we absolutely believe you, @Alieth, but - just a suggestion - maybe signage would be a good upgrade to the Ronin? 😅 5 Quote
Popular Post Marty Tucker Posted October 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 8, 2023 Quote Niac: Mr. O'Conner, take us to search position alpha. Keeping the runabouts equidistant from the Ronin is good thinking, son. Make it happen. Counselor, if you notice anything don't hesitate to squaw....uh...to mention it. Hahaha, the jokes just write themselves sometimes @Karrod Niac 1 6 Quote
Popular Post Dekas Posted October 8, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted October 8, 2023 And we can’t overlook this gem of a quote also from @Karrod Niac in that same sim. Quote Niac: Always good to have fallback options, Number One. Besides, I've had to be honest with myself and accept that I just don't have the figure for a Dabo girl. ::He sighed theatrically:: Another of life's little disappointments. 1 9 Quote

Popular Post VLen Kel Posted October 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2023 Quote Niac: Excellent, let me know when the runabouts reach their search grids. Which means we've got a few minutes. ::Karrod turned to the replicator:: Computer, Deka tea with a jumja twist, hot. And an uttaberry crêpe. Counselor, Ensign, would you like something? There's a part of me that insists on serving food. @Karrod Niac nice nod to Niac's previous host who was a chef. Subtle but good. 4 1 2 Quote
Popular Post Alieth Posted October 16, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2023 Damn @LuxaLoranathis sentence is pure gold 😂 Quote The ship-wide communications opened up; the disembodied voice of the Ronin’s Trill Captain boomed like a voice from the heavens or something like that. Well, maybe just a good VO guy, like the old TV shows. Now we all know how the skipper sounds 4 1 Quote

Alieth Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 he is in a row here then: Quote There was a ship to find and an asteroid field that emanated bad juju. 4 Quote
Popular Post Alieth Posted October 16, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2023 @Kammus Corelli meets floor. Everyone enjoys it 😂 Quote Kammus found himself on the floor, which was great because he was able to finally determine the source of the vibration, and it wasn't the floor! 1 6 Quote
