+ TyrWaltas Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I have to disagree there Rourke. Riker is by far the best tactician of the bunch. Best Captain, perhaps not, but I'd rather have Riker commanding my ship in battle. Think of his battles with the Borg when Picard was assimilated, or when he faced Picard in the mock-battle with that broken-down ship (can't recall the name all of a sudden)..Or what he did to the Son'a in Insurrection...
indulekshmi Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 He always did have an unorthodox method to face any situation....that's a good quality in a captain.
Devlin Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 ....or when he faced Picard in the mock-battle with that broken-down ship (can't recall the name all of a sudden)....USS Stargazer?
Nathan Baker Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 No, it wasn't the Stargazer. It was the USS Hathaway.
Marie Pacino Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 alright alright, Picard was an awsome captian. but to much of a diplomat for my taste. Janeway went in phaser firing and came out in one piece (althought manless. why paramont WHYYY couldnt her and chaktoay get together?? . sorry bout that but thanks to all this fanfic about them ive turned total J/Cer.) as for kirk. take him or leave him. sisko was cool. Riker was.... *dreamy sigh* need i say more? and as for archer. well. no comment.
Rourke Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 *shrugs* Riker used tactics. But Sisko used Tactics and Strategy. You'll also notice that a lot of Riker's victories were through deception. e.g. shuttle going to cube whilst distracted. mock battle- ship having 'failures' i believe. and so on.
Marie Pacino Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 true. but hey, what else can we expect from a man? i mean, a man like riker?
Rourke Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 He used a feint to his advantage, a sound military principle but not one that can be relied on. I saw little evidence he knew how to get down and dirty like others.
Marie Pacino Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 one should be well rounded in millatary stadegy. Begin predictible can be a disadvantidge. or an advantage, depending.
Seph 647 Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 (edited) Well, Will Riker's father, Kyle, was a Tactician Strategy Specialist. So, I guess, W. Riker learned from his father. Edited July 21, 2004 by Seph 647
indulekshmi Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 why paramont WHYYY couldnt her and chaktoay get together?? . sorry bout that but thanks to all this fanfic about them ive turned total J/CerI agree! I am a total J/Cer also. Want to start a fan club?
Marie Pacino Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 till the end. i loved "Coda" have you read the origonal script for "resalutions"?
Devlin Posted July 24, 2004 Author Posted July 24, 2004 Sisko had the tactics, diplomacy and maybe most importantly, he was a family man. Clearly he was the best captain.
indulekshmi Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 till the end. i loved "Coda" have you read the origonal script for "resalutions"?nope... the sad fact is, i haven't even been able to see one full season of voyager yet. they dont broadcast it here anymore. i have had to read up all the episode synopses to learn what happened.
Dizmim ChNilmani Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Kirk was the best ... all the rest are just poor copies. Here! Here! Kirk is thee best because he just was plain cool. He did what was right and when he faced an enemy he didn't call a meeting. He toasted it and then called a meeting!Kirk should win hands down!
+ TyrWaltas Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 i think Kirk's command style is best illustrated in Wrath Of Khan. The thing crawls out of Chekov's ear. Now, Picard would scoop it up lovingly, make sure that it's studied and that it was a sentient being.Kirk whips out his phaser and fries the thing before it hurts anyone else.Oh, and the Picard maneuver didn't have anything to do with Warp. It was "We Surrender!"
Seph 647 Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 That's not what it says on the poll. So, we know who is the best Captain.
Beta Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Captain Jean-Luc Picard is the best the poll speaks for its self
+ Kaedyn Zehn Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 I I was tempted to vote for Sisko because I loved DS9 and I really liked Sisko, I think he really came into his own during the Dominion War but then I had this thought: if Picard had been in charge of DS9 then maybe there wouldn't even have been a war.
Devlin Posted August 4, 2004 Author Posted August 4, 2004 The dominion would have attacked no matter who was in command of DS9, Sisko was the best man to fight them off.
Beta Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Well u never know i belive that if Picard had commaded DS9 then earth would of been destoryed.
