He carried the woman to the stage, feeling like Master Blaster entering the Thunderdome, unable to gauge what the captain had in store for him. Vada didn’t know it yet, but she was bearing witness to the most passive-aggressive drink pouring she’d ever seen. The bartender put the glass down and poured a good deal of ice into the glass. Then, he sighed and started filling the glass with water. Finally, he got to the lemon. Each cut was slow, deliberate, and designed to drag the process out as long as possible.
