LCDR Aine O. Sherlock Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Quote Survivor: ::weakly:: You know… The monsters… Actually, Lee knew nothing of monsters, because they usually had some scientific explanation. Except for that goose that had chased her several years ago in a park, stealing her sandwich. That one had been a literal monster. But she doubted the horrific beast would have followed them to Paldor II. Edrei: Monsters? 3 1 Quote

Popular Post + TAma Posted January 23 Popular Post Posted January 23 Shout-out to @Xiron for keeping it real. Quote Is’Kah: Apparently, using a knife and fork to eat with is inappropriate. Quentin was so upset at me when I did that. Xiron: I think being snobbish about pizza misses the IDIC of pizza. Quote Is’Kah: That is something many struggle to understand, but that is the true final frontier. Sure, discovering the unknown is amazing, but finding out who you are and what makes you happy and content is the hardest. The meaning of my life is to become the best Is’Kah Xiron I can be. Never stop learning about myself and constantly becoming a better person than I was yesterday. Popular Post Serala Posted February 1 Popular Post Posted February 1 So, for our upcoming awards ceremony, Serala decided to have a potluck luncheon in the park and some of the early attempts at cooking are already proving to be amusing: @TAma had this one in which she ultimately brought a vegetarian shepherd's pie: Quote T’Ama poked at the pan of veggies dubiously, unsure if they were done yet. It was, by her calculations, time to deglaze the pan. With wine. The recipe hadn’t specified anything but red, so she’d just picked one that didn’t seem too fancy. Alcohol was one of those things that seemed to have great depth and importance to many species, but since she basically couldn’t get intoxicated by it, she had de-prioritized learning about it. Now she had to figure out how to open this thing. She picked up the corkscrew and screwed it into the cork. So far so good. The corkscrew was a simple affair: just screw it in and use the little arm thingies to leverage it out. She applied pressure to them annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd - it broke. The cheap piece of —- She took a deep breath to calm herself. The veggies spit and sputtered in the now too dry pan. She was left with a bottle of wine with a corkscrew embedded in the cork that ended in a smooth shank. Nothing to grip onto. She went across the room and returned with a pair of pliers she’d dug out of a toolbox. Despite all the advances in technology, sometimes you just needed something that could hold the thing for you. She started working the corkscrew back and forth, trying to pull the cork up until - it broke. Now half the cork was still in the bottle and the other half was on the wretched corkscrew. Wasn’t it bad to break the cork? She must have heard that somewhere since she seemed to remember it. The veggies sputtered angrily at her, and she very carefully put wine bottle and be-corked corkscrew down so as not to smash them in a fit of rage, while she took out said rage on scraping the veggies from the bottom of the pan where they were now stuck and starting to burn. Veggies now reprimanded, she returned to the impertinent cork and screw. Through another contest of wills, pliers, and sheer Vulcan strength she prevailed upon the villainous wine bottle and evicted its corky defender. Finally she could deglaze her effing pan. Did Quentin actually like doing this? She consulted her recipe. Now it was time for the rosemary. It wanted one sprig of fresh rosemary which… she didn’t have. T’Ama: Computer, how much dried rosemary should you substitute for fresh rosemary? Computer: One tablespoon of fresh rosemary can be substituted with one teaspoon of dried rosemary. That… didn’t help. T’Ama: Computer, how much rosemary does one sprig have? Computer: Unknown. Sprigs vary in size. She sighed and dumped a load of rosemary into the pan. And then there was this one from @Leenaya Edrei who brought hasperat: Quote She bit her lip, embarrassed. Her attempt had been a complete failure. She thought she’d followed all the steps correctly, though. She’d even remembered to add some fat to the pan before tossing in the ingredients. However, instead of the perfectly cooked vegetables and meat she watched her best friend get countless of times, she’d ended up with burnt minced garlic, spinach and mushroom. No need to dwell on the chili peppers that, in addition to becoming nothing more than charcoal, had released an irritating smoke that had brought tears to her eyes. Meanwhile, the carrots had stayed hard as rocks, and the meat had been raw in the middle despite its outside brown color. Lee had ended up giving up in the face of this culinary disaster. At least she had tried. I can't wait to see what everyone else brings 😂 2 1 2 Quote
Popular Post Serala Posted February 1 Popular Post Posted February 1 And then @IsKah had to go and do this.... 😹 Quote Is’Kah: It is a shame that there isn’t a plaque with the names of the honorable dead. For those who don't know, Serala has reasons to hate plaques. Not a good way to get in Serala's good graces, Is'Kah. 😹 1 4 Quote
IsKah Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Yet, for nearly the same reasons, Is'Kah prefers plaques to honor the dead. 😇 2 Quote
IsKah Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) Well, as a follow-up to this, At least @Serala isn't sending her to do Holodeck Filter changes. Quote oO Note to self: Latrine duty for Lieutenant Is’Kah for the next month. Oo Edited February 4 by IsKah 3 Quote
