Jalana Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I've just discovered these updated guidelines for Star Trek Fan Films and thought you guys might be interested to read them. http://www.startrek.com/fan-films 3
Blake Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 "The fan production must be a real “fan” production, i.e., creators, actors and all other participants must be amateurs" I feel bad for any fans with serious teeth in the acting business. Jeez. Also, on a side note, I wonder how this affects Star Trek Continues...
Randal Shayne Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) Half an hour total run time over two parts? Limited fundraising? Dictating that the title can't have "Star Trek" in it, but must contain a "Star Trek" fan production tag? What a foul, money-grubbing policy. Star Trek has grown beyond Paramount's grasp. This puts the Ferengi to shame. I will not allow corporations to dictate how I express myself, and I hope others agree with me. Forward, Axanar! Edited January 24, 2017 by Randal Shayne
Kurt Logan Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Problem is they only care about it due to the money it makes. But they cant see that any/all fan made films wont detract from Films at all Ahhhh...money
+ Rune Jolara Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 That pesky little thing called copyright... Personally, while I love ST if I'm going to sink a lot of money into a large production, I would want it to be my own original creation. As a side note.... Star Trek: Renegades isn't letting it stop them. They just removed all references of ST from their project and turned it into an independent sci-fi creation. This is a project has a lot of ST actors involved and is directed by Tim Russ. I believe the second film, Renegades: The Requiem is in post-production now. 3
