  1. ((Corridor, Deck 6 - USS Juneau)) What a way to spend one's holidays. Maxwell Traenor had allotted several weeks of his pent-up earned leave in order to attend a major symposium on Starbase 821. There was an exotic and unique discovery in the Dialrin system in the Aavaro Wilds, and scientists from around the quadrant were being drawn in for study. Maxwell was attending the symposium out of personal curiosity rather than as a professional requirement, unlike many of the Starfleet physicists and geologists and xenoarcheologists and all other kinds of 'ologists' being transferred to the starbase for the task. His path from his ship's area of operations to the symposium was a veritable tour of the Federation, spanning almost the full breadth of the Alpha Quadrant. The milk run needed to transit the route had Maxwell hitching rides on 5 starships and 2 transports over the course of 9 days. Finally, though, he was on his last leg on the Juneau and he was content relaxing in the luxurious guest quarters on the relatively new starship. Until the klaxons started, of course. Maxwell was off duty, almost technically a civilian, though of course not really. A Starfleet officer on a Starfleet vessel or installation was always to be ready for duty, especially in an emergency. So despite having absolutely no idea what was going on, or what was where, or even if he could be useful in any way, Maxwell struggled into a uniform and exited his quarters. Random Lieutenant: Sir, didn't you hear the hail? Hurry, we need to get to Transporter Room 4! Traenor: But- The gaggle of officers led by the interjecting lieutenant had swept him up in their group before he could even catch his breath. Were they abandoning ship? What were their orders? His collective knowledge of personnel on the Juneau resulted in three - the transporter chief who had welcomed him aboard, the Ops ensign who had checked in on him in his guest quarters, and of course the bartender in the lounge. And he didn't even know their names, likely wouldn't even recall their faces from a lineup. Maxwell still didn't know what was going on as he was all but frog-marched onto the transporter pad. He couldn't even glean what was going on though the excited chatter of the others who crowded the pad alongside him. Transporter Tech: Prepare for transport. Traenor: But- ((Corridor, Deck 4 - USS Arrow)) Wherever it was that Traenor and his gaggle had materialized, it was Starfleet through and through. The corridor design was unmistakable. There was much to be said about the housekeeping, however. His comment card at the end of his trip would certainly reflect that. It was dark, dingy, dirty, and most egregiously, hot. Those who had beamed over with him scattered in all directions, leaving him standing there bewildered. A different officer, a JayGee in operations colors, approached rapidly and before Maxwell could utter a sound, she shoved an engineering kit into his chest. Engineer: Commander, this way! Traenor: But- Engineer: ::without looking over her shoulder to ensure Maxwell was following - which of course he was, because what else did he have to do?:: I know, I know, not your specialty. But this is triage, just of a mechanical kind. Do your best, sir, and start with that junction over there. The officer pointed one direction and walked another, leaving Maxwell alone and no less bewildered. Dammit, he was a physicist, not an EPS plumber! But, an emergency was an emergency, so to work he went. He even managed to keep grumbling to a relative minimum. ((Bridge, Deck 1 - USS Arrow)) Ugh. Grimy and sweaty. Not a scientist's natural state. Well, maybe if one was a speleologist, but Maxwell was not one of those. The bridge of this vessel, which he had finally learned was called the Arrow, was marginally better than the working conditions that he had endured belowdecks. The lights were back up, there weren't techs lying under every elevated surface fixing things, and there didn't seem to be too much panic among the resident officers. The center chair was supporting a man in a blue collar, who Maxwell had never seen before and would likely never see again. He shuffled over to stand tangentially before the officer, and waited until the object of his attention noticed the weary and discomfited scientist before him. Traenor: Sorry about your ship, Commander. But the officers from the Juneau seem to have most of the big problems back under control. If you would be so kind as to give me leave to return to the Juneau, I'll be on my way. Collins: response Traenor: But- He looked mutely and slack jawed between the viewscreen and this harbinger of disastrous news, as if by sheer will he could beckon the Juneau back from wherever it was off chasing or doing or whatever. Now how in the hells was he supposed to get to the starbase in time for the symposium? And why oh why did he have to be so nosey as to leave his quarters? Collins: response Of course, Traenor was fully aware that any officer at any time could be commandeered and pressed into service wherever they found themselves, which was the automatic reaction that had lured him out of those now long gone comfortable quarters on the Juneau. It's just... well, this was supposed to be his holidays! It also meant that he might have to explain to this fine officer that no, he was not trying to be insubordinate, it's just that he should never have been here in the first place. Unlike the Juneau officers who had been specifically ordered to be here, he was... well... just along for the ride? Traenor: ::defeated:: Well, that's that then. I don't suppose we'll get anywhere near Starbase 821 in the next, oh, 24 hours or so? Collins: response Traenor: ::shrugging, determined to make the most of it:: I'll make myself useful around here then, sir, if you've anything in mind. You won't find me on the Juneau's roster, since I'm transient, but you can find my service record if you search a bit further out. If you have need of a scientist, then I'll do what I can. Maxwell Traenor, at your service. He wasn't going to make the symposium after all. He was on an unknown ship, added to the roster at least until it was returned to a starbase for the desperate repairs it needed. His vacation was shot. But! It was a bit of an adventure, and Maxwell was willing to tough it out - after a hot sonic shower and a hot meal. There *was* going to be a shower and a meal soon, right? 2. (( USS Juneau - Temporary Quarters)) The new counselor stood in front of the mirror, applying the last finishing details on her makeup. She wanted to look perfect for her new assignment, well as perfect as SHE could look. R'Ariel looked at the Padd containing her orders, and realized how much time she had before reporting in on her new assignment aboard the USS Arrow. With a few basic navigational inquiries, she found her feet and made a mild-mannered entrance into the Clanhouse, a relaxing Lounge on Deck 10. She almost got lost twice... not the best thing for nervous energy release. oO Sure will be nice to have a few less dozen or more less decks to memorize, less chaotic I think. Oo After arriving she took a seat near a window, she deliberated on her choice of drink. Would she go with one of her old favorites, or on such an occasion as this, try something new? Waiter: What can I get you Ensign?:: inquired a friendly, but tired waiter.:: R'Ariel smiled at the waiter, hearing her being referenced as an Ensign, was still a new and pleasant experience. Behind the waiter she coul see her own reflection in the window behind him, a reflection of herself disappointed in herself for not having decided just yet what she was going to drink. oO Maybe you should get some milk, just be careful not to get it all over all that hair you have, you don't want to be a mess for your new assignment. oO:: the Deltan side of her reflection seemed to say, silently chiding at her half-Caitian heritage.:: She closed her eyes, and shook her head, before opening them again, intent on replying to the waiter. Her reflection had changed in the window this time. oO You wish getting milk on your fur was a problem, you don't even have a single wisp of hair or fur on your entire face. Oo ::her Caitian heritage silently rebuffed:: R'Ariel looked up at the waiter, with an apologetic look. She half wanted to ask the waiter if he agreed she was an ugly Deltan for having all that hair, or an ugly Caitian for having no hair on her face, or if perhaps, as she endeavored so arduously -if her meticulous attention to style, makeup, and the like, sufficiently covered her unappealing features... R'Ariel: You know what they say about the psychiatric field... it starts with the person wearing your own shoes. ::R'Ariel quipped with a well rehearsed chuckle:: A confused waiter replied stood there staring at her Waiter: I'm not sure I know that drink. R'Ariel: No worries, I... R'Ariel's combadge chirped, it was time for her to leave, her new life was about to begin. R'Ariel: I am so sorry, I guess nothing. Thank you. (( Bridge - USS Arrow )) Everything was happening so fast. She had joined her new crew on the Bridge of the USS Arrow, the trip itself went from null-eventful to just trying to keep from being underfoot, over-eventful. In fact it was going to take her awhile before she could even review the minute details of how she got here, to this place, right here, right now. oO And to think I thought it would be less chaotic here. Oo Trying to take it all in, it was awe-inspiring and there was Commander Collins, at over 6 feet tall was a strong statement on the Bridge, reminding her in both his physical stature and his rank how little she was - Ensign - 4 foot 2 inches small. And the emotions on the bridge, it was enough to send little telltale twitches of nervous energy to her tail, it gently thumped on the wall beside her. oO This is certainly no simulated Cadet exam, these are real life and death decisions with heightened emotions and pheromones to match. Oo From a workstation in the back, she attempted to monitor things, though the extent of the ship's issues, lockouts, viruses, etc made her efforts seem trivial at best. Computer: Deletion Halted. Re-installation of Core Systems Commencing. Collins: Sound off, everyone. R'Ariel: Ensign R'Ariel, Ship's Counselor reporting in sir! 3. ((Comet Surface)) ((OOC: All thoughts are strictly in-character.)) To say Noa was nervous was an understatement. And even though she was safely encompassed by an EV suit, that would limit what the other would see of her - practically eliminating any and all chance to see her facial expressions. Yet, she chose to remain completely still. She was, after all, in the company of people who were nothing but strangers and shipmates to her. And if there was a way to act around those people, is the utter maximum possible professionalism. At that moment, however, she was stuck. It was like she was squeezed between a hostile situation, that made the emotions inside her boil like steam, while at the same time being in unknown company - in which she was practically incapable of expressing herself, or any of the building up nervousness. She was practically a pressure pot, building up its pressure on the inside. She had to release it somehow. If she were to stay focused at all for this mission, she had to vent it. Somehow. And she never did something like that around a group, let alone a bunch of strangers! Yet her logic relented, and agreed that special circumstances require special measures. And what could those special measures be…? What could possibly serve as a relief for her, while in such a situation? Then, it was as if a lightbulb lit up above her head, and she suddenly knew exactly what to do. She had to crack a little joke. Otherwise she wouldn’t be able to stand it. She bit her lower lip only ever so slightly, to make sure that whatever eyes were inside the EV suit couldn’t see it, and told it. Levinson: I do not believe they would answer to knocking, would they? It may not have seemed like much, but to Noa, it was a huge relief. She pretty much has never done that, and under normal circumstances she would even chastise herself for even thinking about doing something like that. But this time, she was glad for it. It certainly eased the situation. Eiris: You can give it a try Levinson, but I wouldn't count on it. With Elris’ reply giving her just a tiny bit of reassurance, she nodded and gave a reply before approaching the panel. Levinson: I will begin immediately, sir. Noa approached the panel, pulled her tricorder out, and began working. While it was mainly a scanning device, during her Academy time, she experimented a bit with interfacing it with various computer systems - mainly Starfleet and Federation in origin, but she was sure she could try more systems. And that was the perfect opportunity for it. Some may call it hacking. They would probably be correct in that case. Slowly but surely, she began connecting the interface, and tested it slowly - while making sure not to trip any security, of course. Each successful connection improved her mood, and swayed her mood to the better. Hontrú: Response Eiris: We'll cross that bridge when we need the explosive. A few moments passed, and the connection seemed stable - and sufficiently secure to not trip any security alarms. A few taps on both the panel and the tricorder later, the door hissed open. oO Gotcha! Oo Eiris: Of course, this way maybe our hosts don't know we're here. She disconnected the tricorder from the panel interface, and held it firmly while the marines led the way inside. The interior was… odd. Not exactly what she expected - Not that she knew what to expect in the first place. At first glance, it looked… somewhat familiar. Workstations, an odd shape… She couldn’t quite place her finger on it. And once she looked down at her tricorder to get some readings after getting inside, she noticed one more detail - the nearly complete lack of Eichner radiation on the inside. Of course, no amount of Eichner radiation was safe, but that gave them a considerably larger amount of time to be inside - assuming the rest of the interior was devoid of radiation as well. Any: Response Eiris: I was thinking it looked a bit like the bridge to a ship? oO A bridge! That’s it! Oo It certainly made more sense than building a facility for whatever reason on a comet. Oliver: Response Noa nodded at the pilot. Levinson: It would certainly be logical. Hontrú: Response Her tricoder gave of a soft beeping, and she raised it up and took a look. She then raised an eyebrow at the readings, stopping the urge to frown. Levinson: The Eichner radiation levels are considerably lower on the inside than on the outside. I do not recommend opening the suits, though. As for the tricorder’s notification, ::beat:: I am detecting five lifesigns, headed our way. The radiation still is still obstructing any identifying signs. They are emanating from that ::She pointed at the opposite direction to the one the team entered from:: direction. Any: Response Levinson: I cannot be certain. Any: Response TAG/TBC -- Ensign Noa T'Nessa Levinson Science Officer + Wiki operator USS Juneau E239701NL0
  4. Welcome back! I missed your company and awesome sims! Look forward to seeing you about the fleet.
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the fleet!!!
  6. ((Deck 8, Club Olympus, USS Apollo)) :: Ruq’orb entered the club this was the first time he’d been in when the club was open. It looked completely different from the reduced lighting and the flashing disco lights. The fast-paced music that was playing was really catchy, he nodded his head along with the beat and with a bit of sway as he approached the bar. :: :: As he ordered a glass of water, he noted the voice and lack of anything emotional from the bar staff. :: Ruq’orb: oO Hologram? Oo :: He was still learning about how his senses worked but he’d always been able to sense peoples emotions and when things seemed out of place or even people. Ruq’orb knew the room was fully fitted with the latest holo software and tech. :: Ruq’orb: You been busy? Bar Staff: Yes, We have with all the new crew. Are you new? :: He smiled at the question, the computer seemed to have a small talk subroutine. :: Ruq’orb: No I been here for the last two and a half years since the refit started. Thanks for the drink. :: He didn’t fancy spending all his night chatting to holograms, he bobbed and weaved his way across the dance floor to a slightly raised seating area at the back. He noted a few crewmembers from his team and lots of new ones. :: Ruq’orb: oO This place might need extra security patrols. Oo :: He made a mental note for later, not that he expected trouble but with a full ship of civilians to cadets to the new officers to high ranking ones you just never know. As he sat, he started his second favourite thing watching people and practising his mental ability to try to feel their emotions. He had empathic abilities but no telepathic. In his past, he’d used his ability to gather information this had lead to him spending time in jail. It had also made him learn several things about him and computer skills. :: :: He smiled at the feelings he was getting the room was full of love, fun and enjoyment. Some from the dancing, music but some from the new mission and the adventure ahead of them. He looked forward to the experience of the exploration, also to meet new people. He enjoyed company at two hundred and sixty-four years old he was still young for his species almost a young adult. As he listened to the music, it started to bring back a memory from his past at the same time he began to feel his head pound only for a moment, but at that moment, he’d remembered hours of the memory. :: :: He checked the time on the table padd it was almost time to go see Conrad try to knock that arrogant Zackdorn of his peg or so he hoped. He still had a short time to watch, listen and feel this place. :: -TBC- Ensign Ruq'orb Chief of Security - USS Apollo-A USS Apollo-A Staff Member A238806K10
  7. ((Bridge, USS Apollo-A)) :: The Klingon was inspecting his new station. People walked all around him. A huge bridge also meant a very busy one. Meanwhile, he reflected on the Klingon language and on how it affected cultural differences. That's why, when he noticed an officer was next to him, apparently awaiting for something, his Klingon upbringing took over. :: E'riQ: nuqneH? :: Pause. :: Oh, sorry. I meant, hello. I'm E'riQ. :: Only then did E'riQ realize the human was standing at attention. He realized he was the HCO officer he had been waiting to meet. And the man visibly relaxed seeing how E'riQ was not saluting with any formality. Klingon ships were less prone to etiquette. Klingon civilian ships, where he had spent most of his life, much less so. For him, ran was useful to know who gave the orders, but not to replace names. :: Termine: uhh… Hello sir! Lieutenant Junior Grade Dante Termine reporting for duty. E'riQ: A pleasure to meet you. I think we will be sharing these two seats quite often, so I was looking forward to this encounter. :: He said that with his more polite smile. Which required some effort. He had tried his more sincere smile in the past, and he had learned that it made most federation citizens a bit uneasy, with his marked fangs and all. So he smiled with his lips closed this time. Usually, once he got to know people and they shared his contagious loud laugh, they were more eager to see him smile openly. :: :: The human responded with a similar smile, and a slap in the arm, which surprised E'riQ in a good way. Had him been around Klingons? Or was he naturally Klingon-y in his reactions? In any case, good signs! :: Termine: Buy’ ngop! <<literally: the plates are full!>> I am honoured to server under you Lieutenant! I’m sure they will sing songs about out adventures! E'riQ: oO He even speaks Klingon? How many people aboard do? Oo :: He was pleasantly surprised, but also intrigued. It's not as if his people had become trendy, was it? They were allies, but the relations were not as close as they had been. :: E'riQ: Do you speak Klingon? Termine: Uh, yes sir, a little. :: E'riQ wondered how that came to be, athough he knew Starfleet Academy offered several courses for those interested in his culture. :: E'riQ: Great! Where were you before the Apollo? Termine: I was the alpha-shift OPS officer on the Atlantis until about four hours ago. Before that the academy. E'riQ: Oh, I see. Are you a pilot? :: E'riQ was. Or, more accurately, it's what he enjoyed most in his Starfleet role. Having his own civilian ship, he had been in basically any role, and in HCO he needed a lot of those skills. But now that there were people covering every role, the helm is what he enjoyed. :: Termine: To be honest sir I joined Starfleet to lead, and that’s where I’m going to work my way to. Until then I’m here to do my job and make you proud. If you need someone wined and dined, a com-channel cleared or a relay replaced I’m your guy. :: Termine seemed eager to serve. E'riQ wondered if he was really, or these were steps in his dream to lead. E'riQ was not in a hurry to the central chair. And Kahless said real leaders have leadership thrust upon them against their will. But he understood the ambition. :: E'riQ: Have you seen the size of this ship? We won't ever run out of things to do. :: An air of solemnity fell upon the room as the Stratigo entered. E'riQ motioned towards the station monitors and for his HCO mate to just listen. They observed the exchange of command. E'riQ got tense a few times. He knew the Zakdorn were famously seen as the most brilliant strategic minds in the quadrant. But, as most Klingon, he doubted a reputation that was not proved regularly. :: Renos: Thank you Stratigo Bokzadeshti, we are most grateful to you and all of Zakdorn for all your hard work and effort. We’ll put this marvellous ship to good use. Bokzadeshti: That remains to be seen. Permission to disembark, captain? :: E'riQ clenched his fist. He could not believe the KDC had at some point considered an alliance with Zakdorn (although the position of the planet had something to do with it). :: E'riQ: oO Klingon allied with them? Ha! If they are all that arrogant, the first Klingon captain they had to work with would stab them and test their famous defense system! Oo Renos: Permission granted. Please feel free to disembark at your leisure. With heavy shipping around Zakdorn at the moment, we’re not cleared for departure until 0700 tomorrow. :: What? With a heavy sigh, E'riQ looked at the human he'd be working with, his face showin both disappointment and surprise. He was eager to take this gorgeous whale out of dock. That would have to wait. :: :: Thinking on where to pass the time until next morning, other than dinner with the captain, he looked around the room, until his eyes locked on something special: a black collar. Due to his background and species, there were two kinds of people he always had rough starts with: counselors and Intel officers. This time in, he decided to work proactively to solve that. :: E'riQ: Excuse me. Could we have a word? McLaren: response E'riQ: Either an office or a drink. As official or unofficial as you want it to be. McLaren: response Lieutenant E'riQ, son of Lo'PeH Chief of HCO- USS Apollo-A D238701JV0
  8. (( Migehn River, Thorain Mountains, Trill )) ::The vicious waves of the river crashed unendingly on the small boat. Emilia’s heart pounded as she struggled to paddle in the back, and steady the direction away from the rocky shores. A mix of excitement and anxiety brewed in Emilia’s chest, as the violent waves drenched the two officers with the fresh, lukewarm water of the river. Emilia’s grip was like iron on her paddle, iron that powered through the cold rust, clinging on for dear life in the midst of the overpowering waves of the river as it paddled. Despite everything however, she chuckled excitedly, the rush of adrenaline seeming to almost force a feeling of amusement and joy.:: ::The warm echo of the sun bounced off the crystalline surface constantly, creating an abnormally bright glow as Emilia’s eyes focused forward despite the chaos. She wondered how Jo was feeling through the circumstances.:: Krugol: Are the waters always this rough?! ::Emilia spoke, raising her voice above the volume of the waves.:: ::In the midst of fending off a splash of water to the face, Jo wiped her mouth on her shoulder and laughed, her stomach dropping out as the boat hit a bad patch of a dip between waves. She shouted forward over the noise.:: Marshall: So it said! Something about the temperature of the glaciers on the Northern Hemis- ::The boat rocked heavily, throwing out her words with the jolt.:: -phere and the friction between the narrow channel and the larger river south of us! Krugol: I wonder if that makes things difficult for the locals here! Marshall: They’ll be used to it by now, I’d imagine! ::The boat tipped to the side as the underside hit an incoming wave from a rock formation, both crew paddling fiercely to avoid capsizing against it and headed back into the river run. Another crew up ahead of them steered away from an eddy, dipping out of sight, the telltale sign of what was to come. Jo shouted forward again.:: Marshall: We’re hitting the Middle Fork! Drop coming up in three! ::Emilia’s heart pounded in excitement. Quickly, she braced herself, moving her legs to the edges of the kayak to stabilize her form a little more. The anticipation built up in her stomach like a rampantly breeding swarm of butterflies, fluttering every which way, creating the sickly feeling of excitement that rose to her throat.:: Krugol: Let’s do it! ::A strong undercurrent swept through beneath the small kayak, increasing the speed, forcing them towards the gully created by erosion in the rock below. Jo mentally counted down and braced herself for the oncoming onslaught of water as the front of the boat carrying Emilia angled down over the edge. Adrenaline in the riders spiked. The vital readout beeped to acknowledge it. A moment teetering on the edge where time seemed to hang, the view ahead of the canyon they were about to descend into. Then, they tipped over.:: Krugol: WOAH!!! ::Emilia’s gaze locked with bottom of the drop very briefly, the rush of adrenaline practically drowning her as she held on for dear life to the Kayak.:: ::They hit the bottom of the drop with a clear splash, sinking for a matter of a second before bobbing back up amidst waves and the twisting churn of whitewater.:: ::Jo shook her head, spraying water everywhere, accompanied by a loud and happy laugh.:: Marshall: That was BRILLIANT! ::Replicating Jo’s motions. Emilia laughed uncontrollably. Exhausting every breath she’d clung to during the descent. The water came up to Emilia’s neck as she tread the water around her, managing to keep herself afloat amongst the much calmer waters. Her feet kicking from under her almost constantly, fighting to keep her afloat.:: Krugol: That. Was. AMAZING!! We definitely have to do this again when we get the chance! ::Jo ran her hand up shifting the water from her face and up into her now drenched hair. Their kayak bobbed on the surface of the wide river a couple of feet away and she made a grab for it before it got any further. Treading water, she tried to touch the bottom with bare feet and could barely reach it.:: Marshall: Definitely! ::She grinned widely, pushing the kayak over to her friend.:: Grab that. We'll drag it to shore. Krugol: I wonder if we’ll have a chance to do this next shore leave. ::Emilia wiped her face with a free hand, clearing her vision clouded by the water in her eyes. She sniffled somewhat, swimming herself over to the capsized kayak in attempt to swim it closer to the bank.:: Marshall: I hope so! M-Class planets have always got something crazy to jump off of. Or out of. ::They shifted the sprightly buoyant but capsized kayak over to the riverbank. Planting her hands, Jo hauled herself out of the water onto the grass feeling twice as heavy, then held her hand out for Emilia.:: Krugol: Thanks. ::Emilia took Jo’s hand gratefully. The water-filled wetsuit, spilling water onto the hard bank of the river. Her body felt tired and heavy. Nevertheless, Emilia pushed through, driven purely by the leftover adrenaline in her system.:: I wonder how many people we can talk into doing so. You never know, there may be a few equally crazy people on board. I know a certain, equally insane flyboy that may or may not enjoy a couple of jumps. ::Jo laughed, pulling the kayak out of the water with the Trill’s help, settling it on its side and pitching out whatever water it had decided to take on in the fall when it kicked them out. She stretched her arms behind her back and shook her head of water clinging to her ears, then grinned at the woman.:: Marshall: Our crew isn't short of maniacs and adrenaline junkies. Next shore leave, we'll find somewhere, if we're on-world, and lure them in with promises of a barbeque for the first one over the edge. ::However, her grin tinged with mischief.:: I'll bet you a weeks worth of rotation cargo checks that you can't get the Admiral to do this. Krugol: ::Emilia chuckled loudly.:: That’s possibly the most devious thing I’ve heard from you Jo, I like it. As for the admiral… ::Emilia snapped her fingers competitively.:: You’re on. Even if i lose, shouldn’t be too much to handle. But that’s a big if. ::Emilia stretched her arms, following it closely with a yawn. The adrenaline slowly seemed to die down. She began to shake out each of her limbs individually. The sudden cold breeze causing a brief shiver against the drenched wetsuit. Emilia wondered what kind of barbeque was going to be prepared. Images, and flavours of pork belly and well done steaks invaded her mind.:: ::It was a big if; Jo was already starting to plan what music she'd have blaring in the cargo hold. She moved her neck to the side, feeling it crunch from the exertion of the ride down the rapids, and the cold starting to invade her otherwise temperature resistant wetsuit. Now came the glorious task of hauling their kayak back up to their starting point. Grabbing one end of it, she patted Emilia on the shoulder with the casual familiarity of two friends having braved an adrenaline-filled danger and come through still alive.:: Marshall: Thanks for coming, this was a lot of fun. Krugol: You’re welcome! It was a very eventful ride to say the least. ::She returned the casual pat with a bright smile, and a thumbs up to the fellow gold shirt. Emilia felt comfortable in Jo’s presence, no nagging thoughts telling her to do this or that, or even anything making her nervous enough to stutter.:: ::Emilia, following Jo’s lead, shifted the weight of the kayak onto her shoulder, the weight somewhat encumbering her. With Jo’s help however, Emilia was able to easily share the burden on her shoulder. She let out a sharp breath as she began to march forward. Her legs, jolting excitedly with each spring in her step.:: ::The climb was going to be a long one, nonetheless it was worth it just for the views of the canyon they'd splashed into. Kayak safely secured, ready for the haul, Jo grinned at her fellow trudger, squinting under the midday sun.:: Marshall: Best foot forward. Beers on me when we get back up there. Krugol: It’ll be a cider for me until I can work on my lightweightness ::Emilia threw a chuckle Jo’s way, glancing up at the long walk. But who better to walk with, than a fellow friend.:: _________________________ Ensign Emilia Krugol - USS Gorkon - Security/Tactical officer - G239409EK0 ___________________________ & ___________________________ Lieutenant JG Jocelyn Marshall - Operations Officer - USS Gorkon - G239304JM0 ____________________________
  9. Welcome to the final day of the awards ceremony. So far this week we’ve announced the recipients of the Staff, General, Length of Service and Special Awards. Today we present the duty post awards. Each award focuses on a different department from the major ones such as medical, operations or engineering to the more unique - like diplomacy, intel or marines. Even civilians have a chance to be recognised for the valuable contributions that can be made to our stories by those who prefer the path less worn. Each of these awards recognises a player for excellence in simming their duty post. Since only one award per duty post is given each year, only the very best are chosen and they are highly coveted awards. You’ll see from our spread of winners – who range in rank from Ensign to Captain – that every player has a chance to be considered for one of these by consistently simming to the best of their ability and striving to improve their craft. The Prantares Award - Medical The Prantares Ribbon is a duty post award and is awarded to those medical officers who have moved beyond competence to display a true gift for the healing arts in the context of space medicine. The officers given this award should display the ability to keep a steady hand in the often hazardous conditions in which they must practice, as well as the willingness to risk their own life to save the lives of others. Edward Spears, USS Constitution Presented by Jalana Rajel: “There are players that leave a deep impression from the moment they join the game. The first time I saw Edward Spears dive into a medical procedure I could feel the passion and love for writing details. Medical is a field that strives through these traits. I knew from his comments that he wasn't in the medical profession in Real Life, and the amount of detail and knowledge that went into his sims was impressive to say the least. Not only did he knew his Star Trek Canon medical jargon but also brought in realism that I've seen only from experienced writers before. The last mission on the Constitution required an infiltration team to turn into Klingons, and instead of doing the '10 minute and you are done' bit we got on the shows, he wrote a detailed surgery, and included recovery time as well as consequences in case something went wrong. While that was still shorter than it would be today in 2018, it made it more realistic and didn't give us the feeling that Doctors in 2394 are simply tool wielders. But it didn't end there, Edward also willingly initiated an untested Klingon holographic-mind link so that he could be aboard another ship to treat his ship mates during a potential fire fight. He triaged a potentially fatal wound of a fellow officer, which he is presently working on rehabilitating with said officer. Edward has been with us for only a few months but his imagination, creativity, enthusiasm and passion are an example to everyone. I am proud and honored to present the Prantares Ribbon to the up and coming Edward Spears. Congratulations Derek!” The Natasha Yar Pin - Security The Natasha Yar Pin is a duty post award and is awarded to those security officers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in protecting and preserving the lives of their crewmates, even at risk to their own. Ishani Kasun, Starbase 118 Ops Presented by Sal Taybrim: “What does a player do when they want to play a counselor, but the only open role is security? If you’re Ishani Kasun you make one of the most complex and wonderfully written security officers possible. Ishani’s specialty is in Crisis Control – she’s a security officer whose main weapons to diffuse a situation are empathy and diplomatic words. At every turn in a mission Ishani has a new and clever solution to a problem that involves connecting with other characters. This is a wonderful skill in character because it means out of character Ishani connects with a wide variety of fellow players and characters creating realistic relationships across the ship. Highlights of the past year include Ishani’s continued counseling of a rescued refugee, a blossoming relationship with a fellow crewmember and making the decision to use force to protect fellow crew and civilians from Orion Syndicate criminals. She’s written wonderful scenes to help other characters cope with trauma and had a very realistic process of dealing with trauma, and growing to become a capable leader and department head with her own character. She is an officer that understands both the need for force and yet honors the non-violent tradition of Starfleet. I am so proud to be able to present Ishani with the Natasha Yar Pin!” The Voyager Medallion - Ops The Voyager Medallion is a duty post award and is awarded to those operations officers who have shown great skill in keeping a starship in working order despite near-impossible circumstances. The officers receiving this award have advanced the field of Operations, making sure duty rosters, provisions, gear, and even recreation time are available... no matter what. Randal Shayne, Andaris Task Force Presented by Theo Whittaker: “Operations can- on the surface at least- seem to a rather dry role to take on, lacking the immediate excitement of Security or Science. But scratch underneath the surface and you will see that perhaps more than any other, it is vital to the ship's health and success. It a certain kind of writer to do that and I am extremely fortunate that Randal Shayne is exactly that kind of writer. Rarely have I met a writer with Shayne's enthusiasm, eloquence and drive. He dives into his role with joy and excitement. He has transformed his role in to the living, beating heart of the Andaris Task Force. Every syllable of every word of every sentence of every paragraph in every simm is thought out and considered. He brings the role and the character to life with such beauty that it is often breathtaking. I have said it before and I will keep on saying it: Randal Shayne could (and probably should) write professionally. His simms are THAT good. I am deeply honoured to simm alongside an officer who brings his role to life with such ease and aplomb and it gives me great pleasure to be able to say a few words to an officer so deserving.” The Sisko Tactical Cross - Tactical The Sisko Tactical Cross is a duty post award and is awarded to those tactical officers who have shown cunning and bravery in battle. Master strategists, and experts in targeting and shield power distribution, these officers have done the impossible to save their ship and the lives of its crew. Arturo Maxwell, Starbase 118 Ops Presented by Sal Taybrim: “Arturo Maxwell has taken a niche role and turned his character into a bedrock of StarBase 118 Ops. He writes strong evocative posts, combines a real life knowledge of military structures with a love of fiction and creates complex relationship with fellow PCs. Maxwell as a player is a good writer, and is excellent with communicating with staff and other players about mission ideas and shore leave plans. Maxwell as a character is not just a great crewmember, he's a man with a daughter, a strained relationship with his parents, a budding romance with another PC and a fantastic friend to so many other characters on Ops. Not only this, but he played through a plotline where his character was punished for IC actions -something he helped plan for character development. I was very impressed by his willingness to make his own character make a mistake, and play through realistic consequences. This made Maxwell a better rounded character with a believable story arc who became a stronger department head overall. I am so happy to recognize all of Maxwell’s hard work and so proud to present this award!” The Phoenix Award - Engineering The Phoenix Award is a duty post award that recognizes engineers. Named for the vessel that legendary engineer Zefram Cochrane piloted during his historic first warp flight, this award goes to those Engineering officers who continue this tradition of excellence in the field of engineering. By performing their tasks with enthusiasm, imagination and diligence, by managing to make their equipment perform above and beyond its rated capacities, the officers meriting this award further the mission of their ship by their superior know-how. In short, miracle workers. Valin Dermont, USS Atlantis Presented by Brell: “Valin Dermont joined the crew of the Atlantis at its launch and quickly found a home among the crew and at the side of the warp core. Not only is he technically adept in writing his duty post, Dermont's family life and friendships are thoroughly explored to our enjoyment. His character's engineering skills were learned by the seat of his pants as crew on a freighter, and he uses that unusual pre-starfleet life to enrich each and every sim he submits. His character breathes life into what can be a stiff and mechanical department.” The Cochrane Award - Science The Cochrane Award is a duty post award and is awarded to those science officers who have contributed greatly to the advance of science in the midst of their Starfleet career, by staying knowledgeable about their field, participating in the community of science, but most importantly, by placing their knowledge at the service of their ship and its mission. Sotak, USS Atlantis Presented by Brell: “Since becoming a member of the Atlantis crew she has quickly shown her aptitude for her chosen field. Getting to participate in a Duck Blind on her first full mission aboard has shown this in the attention to detail she has adhered to in preparations for the ground teams that would be altered to look like the local population. More than just a science drone Vulcan, Sotak has joined in many social situation with her crewmates. Where though stoic on the outside we as readers are treated to her internal thoughts that are anything but dull.” The Pilot's Sextant - Helm The Pilot's Sextant is a duty post award that recognizes helm officers. An award named after an old Earth navigational tool, the Pilot's Sextant is given to those Helm officers who have proven themselves to be the best of the best. From finding a safe route home to flying an emergency atmospheric landing, pilots who have earned the right to this award know the importance of staying focused, and puts their ability to make spectacular maneuvers at the service of their ship and its mission. Na’Lae Mandak, Andaris Task Force Presented by Theo Whittaker: “I've had the distinct pleasure of working alongside the recently promoted Lieutenant (JG) Mandak since joining the Andaris Task Force in December 2017. In the seven subsequent months, I have been drawn in by Mandak's witty writing and charming descriptions of life as a Starfleet conn officer. Whether it be piloting the USS Blackwell or one of its auxiliary vessels, the writer of Lt. Mandak makes you feel as though you are sat next to her, watching her work. We even see the logistics of the job at times in her interactions and planning- and it is never a dry subject. Only Mandak could take what could have been a dull conversation about logistical planning and make it easy to follow and gripping. And I still feel like we have barely begun to know this charismatic officer! Whatever the future brings for her, consider me excited!” The Order of the Valiant Heart - Counseling This award is given to those ship's Counselor who have shown great skill in protecting the mental health of their crewmates, clearly demonstrating superior ability to care, assist, and comfort those in need. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty in assisting their crewmates with their problems, and in preventing future problems from occurring. Rune Jolara, Andaris Task Force Presented by Theo Whittaker: “Intriguing, outstanding, compelling... they are perhaps the three words that come to mind when I think of Rune Jolara. Often characters tend not to reach out to counselors out of fear or uncertainty but Rune finds a way to bring them out of her shell- whether it be by her presence or through therapy combat. On missions, she often assists diplomatically or gathering intelligence using her former background. In short: she is invaluable to the Blackwell and we are all the richer for her presence. I still fondly recall Theo's first encounter as she got settled in and even now as she deals with Klingons- the blood enemies of the Al-Leyans on our current assignment- she is utterly compelling. When I see a post from her, I'm always excited because I know it's going to be golden.” The Semper Fidelis Award - Marines For those StarFleet Marines who have shown great skill in protecting their crew, accomplishing their mission, avoiding tragic loss of life in the line of duty, and upholding the values of the UFoP in times of crisis. Kurt Logan, USS Atlantis Presented by Brell: “Though for most of his time with us in the fleet he had been a Security officer in many ways Logan always had the Marine mindset. Since transferring to Atlantis at its launch and putting on the Marine green that has been made clear. His quick and unusual thinking has also served him well.” The Black Cross - Intelligence This award is given to a member of the Intelligence community that strives to accomplish the goals of Starfleet Intelligence, while simultaneously upholding the ideals and structure of Starfleet command. This person has the cunning to gather intelligence by means of deceptive dialogue or espionage, as opposed to force drawn confessions. While matters of intelligence are often game changers, this person strives to attain those goals within the boundaries of their Commanding Officer, and the regulations of Starfleet. David Knight, USS Atlantis Presented by Brell: “Many expect certain things when they see Starfleet Intelligence, a spook, spy, taking notes on everyone. The real lives of the officers who fill this vital role are often much more mundane, with a lot of reviewing reports and data to read over. Ensign Knight shows what it means to be a Starfleet Intelligence officer. He is diligent in his monitoring of the activities of the Par'tha expanse, and the Freeworlds, as well as the comings and goings around Deep Space 26. He gives the knowledge trusted to him its due respect. He has also been quick to file his well thought out reports with his superiors, and with the greater Intel community on the Blacknet.” The Lwaxana Troi Medallion - Non-traditional roles This award is given to a member who takes a unique role outside of the normal StarFleet positions and creates a colorful and engaging character. Mirra Ezo, Andaris Task Force Presented by Theo Whittaker: “Famous- or should that be infamous?- for her sassy mouth and larger than life personality, I had always been quietly convinced that Mirra would make one heck of a diplomat. An unorthodox diplomatic, mind you. I'm glad I was right. From the moment she confronted the Hur'Q leader on Arndall, we all knew that we were in for something VERY special. Equal parts serious and utterly hilarious, Mirra Ezo brings joie d'vivre to her new role establishing herself in a close knit team with aplomb. She can create, mediate and solve a diplomatic crisis before breakfast, peppering those in her line of sight with a well timed comment- sassy or otherwise. In a short space of time, Mirra has worked wonders in a department rarely seen on TV and Film Trek- a true testament to her writers skill!” The Strange Medallion - First Officer Named after Commander Sally Strange, widely known as one of the most creative and dedicated First Officers in the fleet's early years, this award is given to those who perform above the call of duty in the position of First Officer. Oddas Aria, Duronis II Embassy Presented by Toni Turner: “The Strange Medallion . . . Wow, what an honor to bestow this award on my own First Officer, Commander Oddas Aria, especially coming from a nominator saying he "served with many First Officers. One (of which) he would of loved to hang naked over a burning flame." Thank goodness Oddas didn't meet that criteria! He went on to say, "Commander Oddas is one of the best XO's I have come across. She is helpful and is always there for us." Another said of her, "Cmdr. Oddas has her work cut out for her. Not only does she have the uncommon responsibility of a Federation installment and three ships to look after, but she also has some very big personalities to deal with who do not always see eye-to-eye with her. Despite this, she always does her best for the crew while allowing them to express themselves." From my point of view, she has made mentoring easier for the entire staff. Each letter she sends to our players is filled with praise, encouragement, offers of help, and suggestions of things they could do to become a better simmer or to integrate into the storyline. She keeps a detailed record of our sims and if anyone falls short of the sim requirements, she writes them a thoughtful and friendly inquiry. Her sims set an excellent example for the rest of the crew, are well thought-out, and invoke amazing responses. She is a proponent of Embassy and the Fleet at large. She is the type of player who enjoys her duty to the CO and to the players. I feel very fortunate to have her among the Embassy/Thor crew because she fulfills all the demands of the FO, and when it comes time to make difficult decisions, she does not back down and is honest with her assessment of the problems that arise from time to time. Congratulations Oddas for this well-earned recognition!” In closing this year’s awards ceremony we’d like to thank the people who made this possible and make one final, special presentation. Our thanks and appreciation goes out to: Awards facilitator Rear Admiral Renos, who is facilitating the awards ceremony for the third year running. The Awards Committee, comprised or Rear Admiral Renos, Captains Brell and Sal Taybrim, Commanders Oddas Aria and Maxwell Traenor, who voted on the Duty Post and Special Awards and who volunteered to help pull materials together to help prepare the announcements. They put in a considerable amount of time and effort to help ensure everything was accurate, prepared and ready for awards day. Their help has made this the smoothest awards ceremony yet. The commanding officers of the fleet, who put in a lot of time and effort to review the nominations for their ships and ensure that the right people are selected for awards. The first officers of the fleet, for voting on the staff awards to provide recommendations to the EC about who they should choose to receive each award, for determining the recipient of general awards where their CO was nominated, and writing awards presentations where needed. Captains Nugra and Roshanara Rahman for helping to update the wiki with this year’s recipients. All of you who submit wonderful, heartfelt nominations each year! Finally, while we're all rockin' them feels for all the awesome fun and friendship we've got going on here for a crack-a-lackin' 24 years the awards facilitator, Rear Admiral Renos, would like to give a special shout out to the community's founder, Fleet Admiral Wolf. It’s not always easy to see just how much Fleet Admiral Wolf pours into this community because a lot of his tireless work is done in the background. Whether he’s working with the website, forums, WordPress, wiki or other resources we have, he makes sure everyone has accounts, and troubleshoots issues ensuring we can all enjoy everything the community has to offer all of the time. His inbox is always open to everyone, whether you’ve been working as a staff member for years or you’re a brand new ensign. His passion, drive and determination keep this community thriving and going strong in an age where there are more real life pressures, more options for entertainment than ever before. On behalf of the whole community I want to take a moment just to that him for everything he continues to do for us. Please join us in congratulating all the winners on their hard work this year. The full awards ceremony is now available on the wiki.
  10. ((Mak’Ala City, Res Residence, Front Porch)) ::Emilia stood firmly in front of the pearl white door of her former home. Her hand, balled into a fist, was raised to knock on the lukewarm wood before her, freezing barely centimetres above the pearl white surface. Emilia’s heart practically trembled in her chest.:: oO Deep breaths Emilia Oo ::Taking in a gulp of air, Emilia finally knocked on the door. Feeling as if a weight was lifted off her shoulder, Emilia’s arm retreated to her side. From the other side of a door, resounded a muffled, but loud female voice. Immediately Emilia assumed it was her mother coming to tend to the whoever was at the door.:: ::The door swung open, revealing a tall, trill female, Emilia recognised the woman to be . Her dark hair suspended in a low ponytail. Her head was turned, facing behind her:: B. Res: I’ll be back in a second mother- ::Bisreel’s head moved slowly, locking eyes with Emilia for a split second, only to break the contact with an oddly strong embrace.:: Emilia! ::Bisreel’s suffocating hug caught Emilia by surprise, figuratively giving her a heart attack in the process. Bisreel backed off with a bright smile.:: Krugol: It’s so good to see you! I haven’t spoken to you in so long! B. Res: Everyone’s waiting to see you! Come in! ::Bisreel stepped aside, her hands gripped firmly around the front door. Emilia thanked her and stepped inside, allowing the peculiarly fruity smell of home to invade her nostrils.:: ((Mak’Ala City, Res Residence, Front Hallway)) ::Shortly after the closing of the front door, Bisreel’s body brushed past Emilia, barely touching the warm, tangerine coloured wall. Bisreel’s hand motioned for Emilia to follow, gingerly, Emilia followed behind her eldest sister, somewhat careful not to disturb the peace of the house, with the sound of her heels against the hard, tiled flooring. Three distinct voices echoed through the house, each getting louder with each step the pair took to the kitchen.:: B. Res: You’re a little later than we thought! Good ol’ middle sister started to wonder if you were gonna show up! ::Brushing the comment aside, Emilia chuckled.:: Krugol: Well you know me, Bisreel! Window shopping is a very time consuming hobby. ::Jokingly, she tilted her head upwards.:: B. Res: Yeah, I know, I seem to remember a time where you made your two sisters wait ten minutes while you tried to give yourself another makeover. ::Bisreel chuckled triumphantly, swiftly ending the sisterly exchange.:: ::The tangerine coloured walls passed by the pair of trill as they travelled down the hallway. Countless old pictures and family photos almost entirely covered the walls of the hallway, leaving little room for the technically orange backdrop to shine through, each framed in an old wooden frame. Shining its way through the kitchen, the bright trill sunlight highlighted the almost marble looking tiles beneath their feet. Basking in the colours cast by the walls around her, Emilia smiled joyously, her legs bouncing like springs as she took each step. The familiar family home, seeming to bring out many pleasant memories.:: B.Res: Mother!! We have a visitor ::Bisreel’s thunderous voice caused Emilia to visibly wince. The sheer volume of her sour tone was like a speaker at max volume.:: oO She takes after mother alright. There’s no doubt about that. Oo ((Mak’Ala City, Res Residence, Kitchen)) ::The pair entered the kitchen to the sound of chatter, two Trill women leaned against the marble countertops, one trill, not much taller than Emilia, and the other seemed a little stockier build wise, but also seemed much older in comparison. Their attention shifting to the arriving newcomers, greeting them with two surprised grins.:: A. Res: Emi!! ::Without even a chance to say a word, Emilia was overwhelmed by a suffocating hug. WIthout a second thought, she reciprocated the contact with an equally suffocating hug, squeezing Alu as tightly as possible.:: A. Res: Ouch! Too tight! ::Emilia broke the contact, grinning cheekily at Alu as their mother quickly interjected.:: M. Res: Leave some of her for the rest of us. ::Returning their grins, Emilia quickly made her way to the far side of the kitchen, shielding her eyes from the bright sun that shone through the large window.:: M. Res: I’ve missed you so much dear. ::Miraah wrapped her arm delicately around Emilia, planting a soft kiss on her cheek in the process.:: Krugol: ::Emilia pulled away, continuing on with her smile.:: Is father home? ::Just as their mother was about to open her mouth, Bisreel interjected.:: B. Res: You just missed him, he got a call from the institute. He said it was urgent. ::Upon hearing those words, Emilia’s grin dropped in a hint of disappointment. The one member of her family she perhaps missed the most, seemed as illusive as ever. But nobody could blame him for taking his work seriously, the family knew how much work life meant for a greying man like him.:: M. Res: You three have some catching up to do, why don’t you all go sit down, i’ll get some tea boiling, as well as bring out some food. ::As lovingly as ever, Miraah ushered the sibling out of the kitchen fairly light-heartedly. The three leaving through the short continuation of the hallway, presumably heading to the living room to continue on their catch up session:: _________________________ Ensign Emilia Krugol - USS Gorkon - Security/Tactical officer - G239409EK0 ___________________________

Special Awards The Rising Star Award For members who show great promise in many facets of their participation in the group, and to whom we look to as a future leader. Maxwell Traenor, USS Constitution Presented by Jalana Rajel "From the first time I have met Maxwell Traenor back on the Apollo when he joined as a Science Officer, I've got the vibe of enthusiasm, humour and dedication to the game. Ever since I have kept an eye on his progress and not once has he stopped showing how much he enjoys the community and loves the people in it. In short time he had risen to the ranks of Leadership as a First Officer and dedicated a lot of his time not only on the ships he has served on, but also in his work leading the Top Sim Contest, being part of the Podcast team, Trainings Team and Public Relations. Whenever help is needed he does not hesitate to jump in and blossoms in his work to make the game fun for everyone. Even in times when a firm hand is needed he does that with respect and understanding. As First Officer he is invaluable for his ship, his sims are entertaining, full of details, humour but also severity if needed. Whenever I hear his name mentioned by my crew members it is in combination with praise. He takes time out of his busy days to answer questions, mentor junior crew members, writes sims to include as many people as possible into plots and his crew clearly loves him and his characters. He is the voice of reason to me many times, showing the other side of the coin that I might miss otherwise. He has worked tirelessly and has just been promoted to Commander, which has been long overdue. Without him the Conny and Starbase 118 wouldn't be the same. I have no doubt that when his times comes, he will be a fantastic CO with a crew who can build on and trust in him. I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to present the Rising Star Award to my First Officer Maxwell Traenor. Congratulations Jay!" Luminary Award Given to members holding the rank of ensign, lieutenant junior grade, or lieutenant. For those who show great promise in their future endeavours in UFOP: Starbase 118 RPG. Delan Han, Embassy of Duronis II Presented by Toni Turner: "Delan Han has been with us for a short time but has already begun making an indelible mark on the group. Not only has he been participating more than full time, he has done so by creating more than one believable character helping fill out needed holes. Han has not been shy about helping out on the wiki. He has helped update information on the Embassy ranging from the Science departments to information on the ships of the fleet and, more recently, beginning to contribute ideas on Trill. Han has also begun the process of taking on mentoring and staff responsibilities and has been excelling at it. Lieutenant Han has shown great enthusiasm for things that help the Embassy and the fleet as a whole. From helping to keep our wiki up-to-date, adding quite a number of PNPC's to making a Beer, Wine and Spirits list so other players, choosing to be Trills, can choose their poison. It also includes a history of Trill Winemaking. He is a driving force in his sims, and will go far in the organization, enriching it and making us all better. Congratulations Delan, well done!" The Locutus Award Given to those members of the Publicity Team who go above-and-beyond their monthly requirements for participation on a regular basis. These team members show enthusiasm and flair for spreading the word about or role-playing community and take an active interest in finding new ways to invite people to join our ranks. Jarred Thoran, Andaris Task Force Presented by Nugra: "When it comes to the Publicity team this year, there is one thing for certain; the Publicity team would have fallen apart if Lt. Commander Jarred Thoran did not take the initiative and run Publicity for a few months. RL had become a nightmare for me, and when I needed help the most, he stepped up without asking and handled the facilitator tasks with courage and with dedication. I commend Jarred Thoran for his initiative and his camaraderie in helping me keep things going. I'm proud to have him as my right hand and my fleet mate. Congratulations on your win, Commander!" The Sarpeidon Award Awarded to members who have made outstanding contributions to the 118Wiki. Sarpeidon was the world in TOS's "All Our Yesterdays," in which the planet's population created a library containing their entire world's history. This is, in essence, what our wiki strives to become: a collection of our group's history and a simming database. Aitas, Starbase 118 Ops Presented by Sal Taybrim: "Aitas is a person with an incredible eye for detail. This extends to the SB118 wiki. She's been instrumental in combing through the wiki and suggesting many quality upgrades that organize our information better as well as making good changes in old information so it fits well within our canon and mission for creating a sensitive and mature game story. Some of the work I have witnessed her do was to comb through all of the Ops history - which is 20 years and 18 COs worth of information. She created documents of changes that should be made and prompted a major overhaul of the history pages on StarBase 118 Ops. But her work didn’t end there, she’s also been instrumental in going through inactive ship’s histories. She flagged information that was contradictory, confusing or just plain wrong and worked very hard to fix it. She's also really sensitive about changing thoughtless entries that could be offensive to new players into entries that are well thought out and treat delicate subject matter with a sensitive and well-reasoned hand." The Boothby Award For trainers who go above and beyond their Academy training requirements. These trainers display an outstanding example of dedication to bringing new cadets to our community. Jarred Thoran, Andaris Task Force Presented by Quinn Reynolds: "To say that the recipient of this year's Boothby Award goes "above and beyond" doesn't seem to quite cover it. Jarred Thoran not only puts a huge amount of his time into the academy, regularly volunteering and participating in classes several times a month, but always strives for excellence, whether acting in the capacity of mock cadet, class XO or class CO. Cadets clearly benefit from his patient, kind and thoughtful guidance, and he's a joy to work with as a fellow training officer. As academy commandant, I feel privileged to have someone so dedicated and talented as a member of the training team, and I'm delighted to present him with this year's Boothby Award. Congratulations!" Quark's Bar Quark's Bar is a special award and is awarded to members who are regularly active on the forums and have been supportive and involved in conversations enhancing the overall forum experience. Attikus Rundstrom, Starbase 118 Ops Presented by Sal Taybrim: "Attikus Rundstrom - you might know her better as Rustyy Hael or Noelle, is an amazingly creative and energetic simmer, staff member and contributor to StarBase 118. This really shows in her commitment to the forums. She encourages fellow members to use the Species Guild form, sparks quality discussion in the public group topics and is a tireless cheerleader for Ops to get active on the forums. She creates quality topics, encourages people to post and stays positive throughout all of it. Noelle is also one of many great players who actively recognize fellow players in the ship and appreciation forums and she encourages others to do the same. She’s always positive, supportive and ready to help a fellow player out of character. She is a great person to honor with this recognition for all her excitement, energy and support. Congratulations Noelle!" The Xalor Clan Xifilis Award Given to any simmer who overcomes any sort of disadvantage while simming. This award was originally called the "Rachel Garett Pendant," but was renamed for the 2000 ceremony to to honor a respected simmer in UFOP: StarBase 118 who passed away in that year. This is the only Special Award that is given more than once per ceremony. Groznin Smith, USS Gorkon Presented by Quinn Reynolds: "One of Discord's regulars, Groznin Smith is filled with enthusiasm and friendliness, clearly taking immense joy in being a part of our community. What's remarkable is that he maintains that spirit of fun and good humour despite the numerous trips he has to make for medical appointments, most recently involving significant surgery to his leg. He's open and candid about his disability -- sharing the details and a few pictures of his medical journey -- and really quite humbling in the way he honestly discusses the difficulties he's experienced. For these reasons, like his nominators I believe he is more than deserving of the Xalor Clan Xifilis Award, and I'm proud to present it to him." Valin Dermont, USS Atlantis Presented by Brell: "Real life has a way of getting in the way of most everyones simming. It takes a lot of effort to be able to overcome, and continue to post sims that fill crewmates with joy over the humorous content.Even more so when it is a storm of RL troubles hitting in short order. Valin Dermont is one such person who makes great effort to stay in the game, and post while while enduring many hardships." Raissa Moonsong, USS Veritas Presented by Roshanara Rahman: "Mandy, the writer for Raissa Moonsong, is an award-winning player recognized for her superior talents as a writer and for her out of character efforts to boost ship morale. She has done so while also having to undergo a most personal and challenging time in her life, facing a grueling health crisis. She simmed full-time as long as she could until her treatment needed her to rest and have the time to gather the strength to fight her illness. Her courage in the face of all this has been awe-inspiring to witness both for the crew and me as her CO. With great joy, we have recently welcomed her back to active simming, and we all wish her the best as our fellow shipmate, player, and friend." Trel’lis , Starbase 118 Ops Presented by Sal Taybrim: "Dusty, the writer behind Trel’lis, has struggled this year with injuries and other health related issues that have hampered her ability to post regularly. But she always maintained good communication through our OOC channels and posts as much as she can. I am always impressed by how quickly she bounces back from being in the hospital or at the doctor to posting again. It is clear that she loves to play her character, and this great effort stands out. Trel’lis is a dependable character both in game and out of game, and a good friend to many characters on StarBase 118 Ops. She’s overcome so many difficulties and still been able to make a niche for herself on the Starbase. Thank you, Dusty, for putting so much effort into your writing. You have improved so much over the years and overcome so many difficulties and have become a vibrant member of our crew. You deserve to be recognized and I happy to present you with this award!" Wallace Williams, Embassy of Duronis II Presented by Toni Turner: "Wallace Williams came to us and after a short time sent us a sim that said, essentially it was nice to sim with us because it helped with his autism. It took us a few extra weeks to realize English was also his second language. Despite this, he has kept up a great simming rate and is always full of creative and imaginative ideas and plot twists. Congratulations Wallace, we look forward to simming with you for a long long time." The Trailblazer Award For members who originate a creative and innovative way for the fleet to engage with each other and the Star Trek universe. These participants provide unique opportunities that help to make our game an immersive and unique Star Trek experience. Roshanara Rahman, USS Veritas Presented by Tristan Wolf: "Created as a means of incentivizing innovation our game, the Trailblazer Award is already highlighting some of the most wonderfully fresh ideas in our fleet. This year's recipient is Captain Roshanara Rahman (Rich), someone who has built his very brand on helping the fleet think in new ways. Some of his first innovations were on the wiki, bringing fantastic graphical elements. He followed that by developing the Veterans Affairs committee, to help long-standing members of the fleet identify things we could improve. And later, he developed the spinoff group that's now being highlighted below. The Federation News Service was created by Rich as a way of enriching our In Character universe with little "slice of life" stories, written in the news formats. At first, they were posted on the wiki, and then later, we launched FNS into its own website. Since he developed the idea, Rich has helmed the operation, even bringing the news style to our monthly mission reports, which have been a requirement of the Constitution since it was drafted – and the new format has taken dry monthly recaps and revitalized them into fun "dispatches from the edge," that are not just entertaining to read, but now act almost like little bits of advertising. So a trailblazer is exactly what Rich is, and he fully embodies the spirit of this award. We're lucky to have his creative mind and intense loyalty to our community. Kudos to him for all the hard work that's gone into his many efforts over the years." The Community Champion Award For members who participate in – or help facilitate – simming community events, representing the best of UFOP: SB118 to other organizations by hosting events, acting as contest judges, or otherwise contributing their expertise in a way that benefits the wider community. Renos, USS Gorkon Presented by Sal Taybrim: "A community champion is not only someone who reaches all parts of our own community, but someone who reaches out to the e-mail roleplaying community at large, presenting our group in the most positive light. I cannot think of a better person to recognize for their achievements in championing our community than Renos. It can be difficult to work with outside organizations, but Renos always presents the best of StarBase 118 when we come together with the outside community. Renos has been a driving factor in our participation in several Ongoing Worlds events including multiple FallFest and SciWorld conventions; helping get presentations organized behind the scenes and leading multiple sessions for the convention under the banner of StarBase 118. For all their great work Renos has been honored with a Squddie award, and has continued to present the best face of StarBase 118 to the roleplaying public. In fact Renos’ work on FallFest is what inspired me to step up and also run StarBase 118 sessions at following events , and he has facilitated other members of our group to represent StarBase 118 in the community at large as well. I can think of no more deserving candidate for this award that Rear Admiral Renos – Congratulations!"
  12. Welcome to day one of the annual awards ceremony! We’re very excited to present the General and Staff Awards. The Staff awards are only for those members who have achieved the rank of commander or higher. These awards recognize the hard work of our staff, who do the behind-the-scenes work required to keep the engine of our community running, and smoothly at that! They help foster the fun simming environment we all enjoy. Just like with last year, the first officers of the fleet were asked to vote on the nominations for each staff award, providing recommendations to the EC about who should receive each award. We’re so happy to have this valuable feedback and guidance for our staff awards! The General (Ship) Awards have been presented by each captain to their crew. The winners this year, as in previous years, were chosen by the fleet’s commanding officers (or in cases where the commanding officer was also nominated, the first officer was called in to decide) from the nominations made by you! This is your chance to see how each of the other ships did and see who picked up what award. Staff Member of the Year Award For staff members who have contributed tirelessly to the organization through any number of OOC channels, while maintaining excellence in simming on their vessel. Sal Taybrim, StarBase 118 Ops Presented by Toni Turner: "I think everyone agrees that Captain Sal Taybrim, the character in front of Jamie, is the glue holding the monthly Fleetwide Chats together, but what you may not know is how she has worked tirelessly for her station and for SB118 as a whole in addition to the chats. She has to her credit a long list of OOC work throughout the fleet, from News to a number of forums and continues through all the connections she's made with many of the writers, not limiting herself to only IC friendships. And as her nominator said, "This kind of work goes a long way to bringing the fleet together and also to bringing in more wonderful writers and characters." She works diligently to ensure fun and quality for each person on board. From simple missions to helping them achieve their goals no matter what they are. Even with all that, she's never once sent a sim that wasn't meticulously checked for proper grammar or correct spelling. And she always ensured everyone is active, with an endless flow of tags. It is my pleasure to present the Staff Member of the Year Award to this hard-working Captain! Congratulations! " The Picard Award The highest honor given to those officers of Admiral rank. Recipients of the Picard Award must show an unfailing devotion to the club, as well as work continually on ways to better the atmosphere of simming in our community. Quinn Reynolds, USS Gorkon Presented by Tristan Wolf: "I'm very excited to present the tenth recipient of the Picard Award. Named after one of our most respected characters of Star Trek, known for his wisdom, strategic skill, and quiet dignity, this award is the highest honor given to those of Admiral rank. Our line of recipients has been a proud and accomplished group of staff members, who've given innumerable hours to our community both in command, and outside of it. Quinn Reynolds (Emma) has one of the keenest minds I've met in our community over the past 24 years. I don't even know if she has legal training in real life, but it wouldn't surprise me! Even before she joined the Executive Council, we called on her to ask for advice in a tough disciplinary process, and since then, she's been bringing her finely tuned sense of justice, order, and fairness to every discussion. I'm always impressed at how she balances logic with empathy, expedience with tradition, and because of those skills, I count on her as one of our most vital community leaders, guiding us through difficult moments with aplomb. But beyond all that, Emma is also a kind and gracious ship's captain, and a wonderful writer, who has solidified the Gorkon into a pillar of our fleet, mentoring new players and developing the skills of the up-and-comers of the fleet. I can't say enough about how much I value and appreciate what Emma brings to UFOP: SB118. Many congratulations to her on earning this top honor, and a place in the history books of our community." The James T. Kirk Cross Given to new Commanding Officers who show outstanding potential in the field of commanding. Brell, USS Atlantis Presented by Renos: "The recipient of this award is a long time member of the group. An endlessly bright and friendly soul who always has a kind word for everyone he meets. For as long as I've known him, he has always been heavily involved on the forums, discord and in various OOC teams, most recently the Training Team where he is a Deputy Commandant. I did a double take as I realised it has only been a couple of months since he was promoted to captain. Brell took command in circumstances that were far from ideal for all involved. Players all appreciate and speak highly of his many qualities and ability to handle difficult situations and players with great respect and care. Brell is not only passionate about his own ship, but the fleet as a whole and its no wonder he's so widely known and popular. I know there are many many great things ahead for this wonderfully talented captain and I look forward to seeing it. Congratulations Brell! " T'Pau Cluster of Distinction For long-term achievement in leading the Training Team. Quinn Reynolds, USS Gorkon Presented by Renos: "The T'Pau Cluster of Distinction is presented to individuals with a long history of achievement in leading the training team. The team is incredibly important to the fleet, ensuring that new players are given a warm, friendly welcome and are introduced to our way of simming. The team also serves as a training group, allowing our up and coming would be captains to hone their leadership skills. Its a complex team to administrate but this year's recipient makes it look easy. She is a very hands on Academy commandant, with a warm, friendly nature that puts everyone at ease. Trainers and new players alike feel comfortable approaching her with any questions or concerns they may have. Her diplomatic abilities have seen her take care of any issues that arose and classes run smoothly under her expert eye. Rear Admiral Reynold's passion and dedication to the team has seen it go from strength to strength. I can think of no one more deserving of the T'Pau Cluster of Distinction. Well done, and thank you for all you do." Shuvalis Diamond of Recognition For long-term achievement in leading the Publicity Team. Nugra Presented by Quinn Reynolds: "The publicity team is one of our group's most vital endeavours, drawing attention -- and therefore new members -- to our group and ensuring our long-term longevity and success. A long-serving and dedicated member of the fleet, Jon (Captain Nugra) has worked tirelessly as a member of this team, even when on leave. A constant presence offering support and encouragement, he is always ready to listen and offer feedback to other members of the team, searching for new ideas and ways to support members new and old. Most recently, he has taken the initiative to revitalise and restructure the team to take advantage of social media to improve our internet presence -- no easy task! It is then with great pleasure that I present the Shuvalis Diamond of Recognition to him. Congratulations!" The Sarek Star Given to a command officer who shows great diplomatic ability in working with members and staff. Jalana Rajel, USS Constitution Presented by Sal Taybrim: "It is sometimes very difficult to realize what a tremendous impact that quiet level-headedness and honest diplomacy have, but in the case of Jalana Rajel, her strength and leadership lets it shine through. Jalana has been a dependable commanding officer for three years, and she’s always been able to mediate disputes with a firm and gentle tone. She’s also been able to provide a welcoming atmosphere for new crew members while making experienced players feel at home. Her crew deeply appreciates her open minded attitude and willingness to listen to concerns and work to solve them. Because of this dedication to providing a great game for all players, her ship has seen great retention in promising players, and she has been a respected mentor for her staff. I am especially impressed by her ability to turn mistakes into teaching opportunities for everyone on her ship – from the highest rank to the newest member. This creates a positive, supportive atmosphere where players are encouraged to write better, and be inspired to tell better stories. I am especially happy to be able to award Jalana with this honor this year because she has done such good work with her senior staff on the Constitution to improve communication and make a great ship to play on. This is seen in the pride she has for her crew and the support she’s given her staff as they work towards command. It takes a good CO to lead a strong ship, but it takes an extraordinary CO to teach others how to move towards command one day. For all of this hard work, the Sarek Star is very well deserved. Congratulations, Jalana! " Christopher Pike Pendant Awarded to commanding officers who command their ship with honor and dedication, and help to provide an creative atmosphere which fosters outstanding simming. Roshnara Rahman, USS Veritas Presented by Quinn Reynolds: "The Christopher Pike Pendant is awarded to those who exemplify everything that a captain strives for; creating a positive, inspirational atmosphere on their ship that encourages everyone to sim and contribute at their fullest potential. Rich (Captain Roshanara Rahman) has done just that in every possible way. A thoughtful, kind and even-handed captain, he is always searching for better ways of doing things, and his efforts have paid off and given rise to a remarkable ship with a remarkable crew. He has created a fantastic and unique campaign area for his crew to explore, rich with with opportunities for stories. His mentoring system supports all crew members, from new arrivals to to command candidates, offering them regular support and advice to help them achieve their own personal goals, creating an environment where everyone is empowered and enthusiastic about making their writing, characters and stories the best they can be. For these reasons, I'm proud and honoured to present him with the Christopher Pike Pendant. Many congratulations, Rich! " Chief’s Citation Starfleet history is much more liable to recognize the triumphs of its notable officers, and while non commissioned and enlisted personnel occasionally receive recognition, the NCO backbone of a starship is likely to go unremarked upon. So that our integral support staff don't similarly slip through the cracks, the Chief's Citation recognizes those essential staff members whose determined work has benefited the group, IC and/or OOC, even while their primary service was not as the commanding officer of a starship or other simming installation. Maxwell Traenor, USS Constitution Presented by Sal Taybrim: "Maxwell Traenor exemplifies the best qualities of a staff member of StarBase 118: he is calm, open minded, creative and communicative. He tirelessly works to create a good experience for all players of the game and to improve the experience on his own ship. As a first officer Traenor has not only been a steadfast mentor to new players onboard his own ship, but he is an active and insightful voice on the Captain’s Council. He has a wonderful ability to see the fleet as a whole, reaching out and advocating for improvements that will help all players have a more enjoyable experience, a quality he also brings to his ship, the USS Constitution, ensuring that everyone from brand new Ensigns to experienced department heads are having fun. He has been a star trainer in our Academy program and currently facilitates the Fleetwide Newsies taskforce, responsible for getting articles schedules every day of the year. On top of all of this he maintains very high writing standards and always manages to portray a realistic and sympathetic character. Maxwell Traenor is truly one of the leaders of our fleet and someone we are looking to as a future leader. I am so glad to be able to recognize all of his hard work with this award. Congratulations Commander Traenor! " Kathryn Janeway Award For retired Commanding Officers who have made a great impact on their crew and left an indelible legacy on our community history. Renos Presented by Roshanara Rahman: "James, the writer behind Rear Admiral Renos, has a passion for simming clear to anyone who has had the pleasure of writing or working with him. In fact, my own relationship with James has been completely through our mutual OOC activities from the Featured Bio Contest that we launched in 2012 to the Training Team, where James served as Academy Commandant. These are just a couple of his numerous contributions to the fleet, and most of course know James as the architecht and first commanding officer of the Andaris Task Force. Before that, he served as commanding officer of the USS Darwin-A. He led both groups for several years before he needed to step down and take a leave of absence to attend to real life affairs. The success of Andaris is his legacy and notable already for this award, but since returning to active simming, James is not one to rest on his laurels. He serves as a mentor for members including our newest COs, and he remains active on the Executive and Captains Councils. With his experience and drive, he continues to bring new ideas that will ensure our fleet's prosperity as it reaches its quarter-century milestone. For your tireless dedication to our community, thank you, James. You are well-deserving of this honor! " Please join us in congratulating these members of the staff! GENERAL AWARDS The recipients of the General Award this year, as in previous years, were chosen by the fleet’s commanding officers (or in cases where the commanding officer was also nominated, the first officer was called in to decide) from the nominations made by you! The Order of Starfleet Merit and Achievement First Class (TOSMA) The Order of Starfleet Merit and Achievement First Class is given to members who show great dedication in their behavior and simming abilities. A candidate for TOSMA regularly contributes good, solid ideas to the plot and character development. They also take the time to edit and proofread their sims to ensure quality in their writing. 13. (( Turbolift, USS Gorkon )) ::So far, Jo had managed not to die on the planet filled with Trills, of whom her experience had mainly consisted of beings whose ultimate aim in life was to die in a cataclysmic fashion. It was like they were all living on the knife-edge of a grandiose gamble with fate. She was contemplating their tendency to run headlong into danger, and if Ops should introduce some kind of Trill insurance policy, when the Turbolift doors were closing as she approached. She broke into a jog to catch it.:: Marshall: Hey, hold the lift! ::Emilia’s eyes widened at the approaching presence. With her arm stretching towards the panel in the turbolift, the doors came to a sudden halt after a quick tap of a command.:: Krugol: Oh! S-Sorry! ::Jo managed to slip between the doors and skidded to a halt, smiling at the familiar occupant. They hadn't shared many a conversation outside of their profession but were quite beyond introductions.:: Marshall: Emilia, good to see you! Heading down to Trill? Krugol: ::Emilia nodded:: Likewise, sir, a-and I sure am! Wouldn’t miss it for the galaxy. ::Emilia smiled, recognising the officer before her. She greeted the familiar face with a bright expression, reflecting her content attitude. Emilia took a quick note of her lack of stuttering, she wondered if her vibrant and content attitude was to thank.:: Marshall: Have you got anything good planned? ::she quirked her eyebrow:: You’re from Trill, right? Krugol: Of course i am sir ::She chuckled.:: I’m planning to do some wandering around my birthplace, ::Emilia quickly added.:: a-as well as drop in to see my family for a bit. Are you heading down to the surface as well? Marshall: I was planning on it. ::she nodded:: Can’t be stuck on the ship when there’s a planet to explore. ::The doors to the turbolift closed eventually, and then began the quiet hum as the two officers moved through the ship. Emilia sighed with her head held high with confidence. That may be the sugar rush talking, but since lunch, she felt several leagues more confident than she did the day before.:: Krugol: Well, i can tell that you won’t be disappointed sir. Trill is such a beautiful planet. I’d say it’s even comparable to earth. ::The mention of the planet made the Human smile; she liked Earth and had spent the best part of her young adult life in San Francisco, as did quite a few of the other trained Officers. Of course, it wasn’t her birthplace, or where she considered home to be, but it was still a beautiful world. Being a Human it was still only natural to assume that she had shuffled out of her mother’s womb there.:: Marshall: Oh? Fancy giving me a quick rundown of the hotspots? Krugol: Mak’ala city is a must see for any tourist or sightseer. You have hot springs, reserves, wonderful choices for where to eat. A-And let’s not forget the beautiful bathhouses and nature reserves. Marshall: It does sound like the place to be. The crew will love it, I’m sure. ::she clasped her hands behind her back as the lift moved:: I haven’t been to Trill since… when was it… the summer of twenty-three eighty-seven. Eighteen and dumb. Hiking up the Lekarna Mountains before throwing myself into the Springball quarterfinals. Krugol: Really? How’d that work out? Marshall: ::she chuckled and shook her head:: Knocked out second round. Good job really. More time for hiking and sending my foolish self off to become the Academy’s problem. ::she rolled her eyes at herself with a slight grin:: Whereabouts were you born? Mak’ala City? ::Emilia nodded pridefully:: Krugol: Yep! I was raised on the lesser populated eastern areas. It’s a lot quieter than any of the other areas, mostly because of the lack of access to business opportunities ::The turbolift smoothly slid to a stop and allowed the two occupants onto the requested deck for access to Boer Station then the planet beyond. The attached walkways were already bustling with fellow crew displaying the bloodshot eyes and shaky heads of first shore leave night parties. Usually that would be the point where the two conversing Officers would part ways to find whoever they were going to the surface with.:: Marshall: It must be good to see the old place after being flung around the galaxy so much. I imagine you’ll have a lot to tell them about. ::Emilia strutted out of the turbolift with her fellow gold shirt. She took in a sharp breath, taking in the busy atmosphere. Chatter in the corridors echoed throughout the deck, incoherently violating the ears of the listeners. Raising her arms above her head, Emilia stretched her stiff bones and muscles contained within her loose, knitted sweater.:: Krugol: No doubt, i’ll probably bombarded with questions again. ::She gazed off briefly into the distance.:: No doubt, mother’s still waiting on that special someone of mine ::she shuddered:: Marshall: Well, I hope you have a lovely time wandering around your home. ::she smiled brightly:: There’s talk of a camping gettogether at some point. You can tell me all about it then. Krugol: oO Camping? Oh god… Oo I-I look forward to it. ::She bowed her head slightly.:: ::About to run off for the connecting transport to the northern hemisphere, Jo stopped and turned back to catch the young Trill’s attention again. They hadn’t had much chance to get to know one another between missions, and while a conversation in a turbolift was as good as much others got, why go an inch when a mile was better?:: Marshall: It sounds like you’ve probably got your hands full with the obligatory family visits and by no means feel obliged here, but I’m planning on fitting in some white water rafting. There’s a river between the Thorain Mountains that I can never remember the name of. If you want to join, I can hold off going until you’re free? ::Emilia turned on her elevated heel. She smiled at Jo in a rather blissful, yet inquisitive manner. :: Krugol: Sure! I’m down for that. I-I need some exercise…. that doesn’t involve hitting a hologram to a pulp ::she chuckled awkwardly.::. Just contact me when you feel like it… then i’ll see if i can get beamed to your location. Marshall: ::she nodded:: Sure. Enjoy your time with your family and don’t forget to relax. Krugol: You too, sir. Enjoy your day. ::In the space of another wave, the two officers parted ways. Emilia straightened her body and walked with her head held high. Carefully, Emilia navigated the overflowing corridors, making sure not to awkwardly collide with any other officers, as well as avoiding getting in the way of anyone. Her eyes darted anxiously, watchfully, dodging potentially look destroying collisions. Thoughts of home flooded Emilia’s mind, making her flash a smile as she pressed herself up against the wall to avoid oncoming traffic.:: _________________________ Ensign Emilia Krugol - USS Gorkon - Security/Tactical officer - G239409EK0 ___________________________ & ___________________________ Lieutenant JG Jocelyn Marshall - Operations Officer - USS Gorkon - G239304JM0 ____________________________
  14. ((Tou’gulia’s, Leran Manev, Trill)) ::Trips to Trill had previously been confined to those of business and short breaks. Kael had found himself here a few times over the years, but he would hardly call himself familiar with the Trill Homeworld. Yet, despite his disconnection from Trillius Prime, Kael felt strangely at home here in the old section of Leran Manevs, affectionately called the Old City. The naming convention wasn't accidental; the architecture was old here. Reminiscent of a world where individual planets still held their distinct identity. A time where raw materials and structures were the preference. A time where hard work and effort was the chief constructor. All of this created a setting and feel that invited Kael is largely what drew him here today.:: ::The mid rising sun presented an indulgent warmth to the streets of Leran Manev. With the buildings and infrastructure generally only a couple of levels high the sun was free to full bask the area. Lively green spaces arose from resumed areas and Kael could see a group of young locals enjoying the soft surface it provided. Life mixed in with structure and history was often an odd mix. In many cases it as simply through neglect and haphazard design that history was remembered. Seldom was it cherished, celebrated and intermingled in with life as it was here. Kael let his hand run along the rough surface of a low fence, slowing his gait in the process. Pushing back the hair the surprise breeze shifted cleared the view of his destination.:: ::Tou’gulia’s was an open space dining area situated on the bank of a small stream. Having been here before Kael found it the perfect place for his meeting today. Edging closer Kael could smell the savoury delights the small cafe was famous for. Kael’s preference for honest real cooking meant he was very familiar with how these smells translated into wholesome delightful meals. Having also tried his hand at cooking, his appreciation for the art only added to his fervour.:: ::A small wooden bridge arched over the stream taking Kael directly into the garden area. On the exit of the bridge stood a plaque describing the history what Tou’gulia’s once was. The cafe was a former school, that served as a hive or learning and opportunity sireing many of Trill’s brightest minds during it’s time. It’s time came to an end following a tragic earthquake, with a decision made to abandon the facility and move to modernise. A move that was undertaken in a broad fashion in the general area. Pulling out the wooden seat at a nearby table Kael day dreamed of being a student again. Dreamed of what it would have been like here centuries ago where things were different, more simple.:: Reynolds: Response ::His attention rightly brought back to the present, Kael was reminded why he was on Trill to begin with. He was to be assigned to the USS Gorkon as his permanent position. The USS Gorkon, a Sovereign Class vessel and flagship of the fleet. While in many cases the fleets direction had shifted towards more flexible, small vessels the Sovereign held its place from it’s sheer power and size. It’s capabilities extended far beyond what it was able to do tactically and was realistically limited by the Captains imagination. Which, Kael expected would be considerable. Rear Admiral Reynolds had been in command of the Gorkon for some time now and had been heavily decorated in doing so. :: ::The small in stature officer had crossed and entered to the right of Kael softly but not understatedly. She commanded a presence even in such a place. Rising to his feet Kael greeted his new commanding officer.:: Thomas: Admiral Reynolds ::The pair had served together for a short period on the USS Mercury and Kael could probably have dispensed with the formalities.:: Lieutenant Commander Kael Thomas, reporting for duty. ::But he chose not too.:: ::The Admiral moved to her seat and cut off Kael’s opportunity to pull it out for her. :: Reynolds: Response Thomas: Well thank you Admiral. ::Pausing momentarily to catch the eye of the waiter.:: I’ve only heard good things about the Gorkon, I’m quite excited actually. ::Which he genuinely was. Kael had been assigned on the USS Ursa Major many years ago and thrived in the life of a large vessel. The opportunities, the people and the sheer difference that a large ship brings helped bridge any anxieties Kael might have had about coming back to work.:: ::A young Trill came and enquired about their readiness to order and Kael quickly fired off his Coffee and small savoury Muffin request. Well, it wasn’t a muffin but it was the closest thing that Kael could find that suited his Muffin craving. Waiting for the Admiral to convey what she was planning on ordering, Kael poured each of them a glass of water. Pushing the water gently towards the Admiral he gazed softly at her. She was probably in her mid 30’s, the same age thereabouts as Kael, although most of that he gleaned, not so much from her appearance, but rather her manner and list of achievements. :: Reynolds: Response Thomas: ::Smiling proudly.:: I’ve been her before. I’ve always enjoyed the peace and warmth of this area of town. A real breakaway from how things usually are. ::It might sound as though Kael resented life on a Starship, but that wasn’t true. Kael loved it and through his periods of absence often missed it. But he missed the opportunity to be on world just as much. The natural warmth, the feel of the air all reinvigorated Kael’s soul. After growing up spending so much time on the farm as a young boy, it was hard to leave all that behind. Which is exactly what Kael worked hard to keep hold of wherever possible.:: Reynolds: Response Lieutenant Commander Kael Thomas Mission Specialist USS Gorkon V238010KT0
  15. (( Isle of Derom, off the coast of Iklan Cape, Trill )) O. Marshall: You're a hard woman to find when you want to be. ::Jo frowned and looked up. The quiet evening she had planned to have on the little island watching the sunset was slipping rapidly out of her fingers. She was lost in her own head, daydreaming, thinking, pondering, trying to piece together thoughts that were entirely stumbling through her mind at the best of times. ::She rubbed her forehead, massaging her temple with her index finger, feeling a headache approaching with an irregular tentativeness in his usual swaggering gait. Couldn’t she just have a moment to herself? Apparently not in this Bear-centric universe.:: Marshall: Did you not think that maybe I didn't? ::Orson turned and leaned back against the railing, clearly not giving a care about her hermetic requirements.:: Marshall: Not now. I’m really not in the mood to do this with you. Transport back to wherever you came from, please. O. Marshall: That makes a change. No witty comeback? No parry of insults? Are you sick? ::She deftly avoided his palm going for her forehead and shook her head at him; she was tired, she had a lot on her mind - obviously it came across in her demeanour. She looked at her hands rubbing over one another, then clasped them together to stop fidgeting.:: Marshall: No, I'm fine. Work is kicking my aft from bow to stern. You know, that thing that everyone else does when you’re off doing whatever you do when you’re AWOL. There, shots fired. Now, will you leave me alone? ::He bumped her shoulder with his, knocking her slightly to the side. She resisted the temptation to just slide under the railings and into the sea, beating a track out of there and try to drown herself in the process.:: O. Marshall: Come on, Lieutenant Targface is here. What's going on? Marshall: I’m not going to spill my guts for you, vulture. O. Marshall: ::He shrugged.:: Try me. Marshall: No. ::Silence slipped into the cavern between them, a respite from the prodding, before a smile that broached on sympathetic but didn't quite reach it crested the mouth of the bearded man stood beside her..:: O. Marshall: Someone's on your mind. ::Her lack of answer told him he was right; she didn't need to confirm it, he was practically gleeful.:: O. Marshall: I'd know that look anywhere. ::then, he frowned:: It isn't Sera, is it? ::Jo rolled her eyes. Oh yes, a perfectly reasonable leap in cognition to make. Idiot.:: Marshall: No. While we're on that subject, get your own friends. Better yet, get your own ship. Do me the favour of disappearing for another year. O. Marshall: That might be a reality sooner than you think. Marshall: Great, let me know when and I'll pretend to care for the evening. ::Bear grinned in response beneath the beard, knowing full well she didn't mean it as much as she actually did, then turned and focused his attention on the small island they were stood on, lights and the rousing sound of music coming from the city on the mainland. A beat echoed between them, his hands drumming an off rhythm on the railing before continuing his line of invasive questioning.:: O. Marshall: Tell me about them. Is it someone I know? Marshall: Thankfully not. O. Marshall: You've never been very good at lying. Your nose crinkles. ::He poked her ruffled feature and earned a death glare in return.:: O. Marshall: It's the Scientist, isn't it? The blonde one that looks just like the... Marshall: No, it isn't. O. Marshall: Crinkle. Marshall: Bear. ::The death glare amplified.:: Please stop with the wild accusations. O. Marshall: Stop trying to deny them. ::he waited for a split second:: Talk to me, Josie. ::He hadn't called her that in *decades*; since he'd left their home on Volan III for Starfleet Academy. A nickname she had unceremoniously dropped when she was permitted to do so. It pained her to hear it in a way she didn't think was still possible; a remnant of a time when they were close.:: Marshall: I’d rather be shot at dawn than hear that again. That was a jerk move. O. Marshall: I do what I can to get what I want. You know that. ::the bastard chuckled:: Who is she? The Admiral's cousin? Sister from another marriage? A twin? Word is they don’t get along. Marshall: Something like that. Don’t think too much about it, you’ll give yourself a haemorrhage. ::Jo exhaled and tongued her cheek. It was likely that Bear already knew - he just liked seeing how far he could push.:: O. Marshall: Look, whatever it is, you need to get it off your chest and who better than your flesh and blood. Marshall: I suppose I haven't spoken to George in a while... O. Marshall: Very funny. You can talk to me. ::She exhaled a sigh and angled an eyebrow.:: Marshall: There's no need to repeat yourself. I ignored you perfectly fine the first time. O. Marshall: I'm trying to have a heart to heart with you. Marshall: I know, I'm trying to avoid it. ::Her thoughts had been unravelling long before he showed up in her little slice of paradise. By no means was he getting under her skin again. She narrowed her eyes at him.:: Marshall: And, just to make where you stand perfectly clear, I don’t trust your intentions as far as I could shoot them out of the torpedo launchers. ::Orson laughed and mimicked her lean on the railings.:: O. Marshall: Who am I going to tell? Everyone avoids me. It's like I've got the fabled albatross tied around my neck. Marshall: I don't care. I'm still picking out the shrapnel from the last time you destroyed my trust in you. ::He dropped his head, looking almost like a little boy again.:: O. Marshall: Come on. Hit me. Marshall: Oh, don’t tempt me. ::She blew out a heavy sigh and looked out at the crashing waves. The knife to the stomach was that he wasn't wrong. Her heart spun in confusing circles for the displaced Lieutenant that had put up with an Ensign for a shadow on a limping ship, constructing a slow and steady friendship. ::They were so different. Erin was brave and resilient, an inner strength like wool wrapped around a bat’leth, steel and grit in her blood, with galaxies in a soft and kind heart, gentle smiles amidst orderless freckles, while Jo was stuck being all dumb jokes, laid-back, no game plan, tripping over herself in her own uncoordinated manner. She was never any good at any of it. ::Bear's voice cut through the noise in her head, guessing at her thought process while she chewed the inside of her cheek.:: O. Marshall: Many before you have fallen for their superiors, Jo. Many after you will do the same. ::She rarely blushed to any magnitude that was perceivable, but it spread through her cheeks like she’d had a heavy night with a tank of rum. As soon as they heated, her walls were back up.:: Marshall: I haven't and I wouldn’t tell you even if I had. ::It was just another chink in her armour to him; something to poke and prod. Bear was a born manipulator, whether he liked it or not. She could use a phaser as a paperweight but it wouldn't change what it was inside; a fact she had forgotten on too many occasions. A chuckle rippled from the man.:: O. Marshall: No, I'm sure you haven’t. Deltan pheromones are all mixed up in your system. ::Jo said nothing, and stared at her hands clasped together on the railing. Maybe the attraction had started out as just that - a complicated concoction of chemicals. Then another year had flown by while Erin was on The Ark Project, and her affection for the woman hadn't lessened any. She was still wrapped around her core. ::Bear slipped his hand onto her shoulder and she shrugged it off.:: O. Marshall: Do you want to go grab a drink with me? Marshall: No. O. Marshall: One drink. See what kind of trouble we can get into like we used to. ::There was a momentary spark of the old sibling banter she couldn't deny, and spending time away from her own thoughts was appealing. However, "like they used to" was a very broad term.:: Marshall: One drink. I actually have to function tomorrow, not laid up in bed with one of your style hangovers. O. Marshall: It's the first day of leave. I know how to restrain myself. Marshall: ::She snorted:: No, you absolutely do not. You never did. --- Lieutenant JG Jocelyn Marshall Operations Officer USS Gorkon G239304JM0 & (PNPC) Lieutenant JG Orson Marshall Former Logistics and Communications Specialist Former 451st Ranger Platoon USS Gorkon

  17. ((Genkos Sim's Quarters, Deck 8. USS Gorkon)) :: Returning back to his quarters from his busy day carrying out medical exams, Genkos plopped his cane into the rack he'd had made specially before plopping himself down on the bed. As much as he fancied sleep, he thought he had better check his messages. Shifting himself over to the monitor, he tapped at a few buttons. There were a couple of messages, one about how the Rangers were going to be folded into the rest of the crew, another about the shift patterns in sick bay, and the last one was from somebody called Tillul Sim.:: oO Dad! Oo ::Reading the message it was an incredibly formal enquiry into Genkos' health and time aboard the Gorkon. Genkos smiled - his father was incredibly personable in real life, but on paper (or PADD) he wrote in an oddly staccato manner. He thought about writing an equally staccato response - mum would like that - but checked the time. He had ages until his next appointment - the CMO had postponed their appointment, so he had the rest of the day off. :: oO Do you know what, I'm going to call them! Oo Genkos: =/\= Computer, connect me to the house of Tillul and Laxe Sim, on Betazed. Put it on my monitor. =/\= :: After a brief pause, his monitor flashed and the friendly face of his father appeared. :: Tillul: Genkos! What a pleasant surprise! Genkos: Well I have some time, thought I'd give you all a call. Tillul: You're looking well, wait until your mother sees you! ::calling off:: LAXE! GENKOS IS CALLING! ::Just off-screen, Genkos could hear his mother's faint response.:: Laxe: What? Tillul: Just a second son. ::Tillul stood up and walked off-screen, leaving Genkos to mull over his decision - he'd not really spoken to them since joining the Gorkon. Did he give them the abridged version, or the warts-and-all tale that might not paint himself in the best light. But before he could make a decision, his father returned, this time with his mother. Tillul was a tall thin man, much like Genkos, but with white hair and a face line from smiling and laughing so much. Laxe was a little fuller, but not what one would call fat, and was a little sterner of temper. Not much, but still. :: Laxe: Hello my boy. Don't you look well? They feed you well on that spaceship? Genkos: They do mum, I'm getting my three square meals. Laxe: But you do get to eat non-replicated food sometimes right? Tillul: Laxe, replication is just as safe and nutritious as grown food. Laxe: I'm not so sure. ::Genkos smirked. Some things never change. :: Genkos: So, how are things with you? Tillul: With us? We're just the same as the day you left for your ship. Nothing's changed here. Laxe: But what about you? What's jetting around space like? Genkos: Pretty exciting. I - ::Without meaning to, Genkos gave them a complete history of the his time aboard the Gorkon. Starting with the tail end of the rescue aboard Starbase 173, the construction of Tasha MacFarlane's arm, shore leave aboard the Cloud Skipper, and then a detailed retelling of his time at the Sikuna colony, from his first encounter with the Governor, to his harsh words to Dhisuia and the beating she received because of it, and finally telling them all about the fight for her life that followed. His parents laughed and cried along with him - feeling immense pride when he detailed just how he designed and attached the Ensign's new arm, feeling appalled at his harsh words to the Romulan, expressing anxiety as Genkos described his and Commander Vess' struggle to keep Dhisuia alive. At the end of it all, Genkos was an emotional wreck.:: Tillul: Son, I cannot pretend to be proud of what you said to that Romulan. But - and I'm sure your mother agrees with me here - you did everything to atone for your words. Laxe: Actions speak louder than words Genkos. And you saved that woman's life. You kept your oath and kept her alive. She wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. Genkos: But she might never have been in that position if not for me. Tillul: That's a mighty leap of logic son. A Vulcan would scold you for that. What's to say that she, or somebody else, wasn't going to get beaten bloody that day? Tempers were running high. Laxe: It was inevitable. Genkos: Thanks guys. I miss you. Laxe: We miss you too. Maybe next time, convince your CO to have shore leave here. Genkos: Maybe I will, maybe I will. Laxe: We love you son. Genkos: I love you. Tillul: We'll have to love you and leave you though - we're going for dinner at the Costanz's and I'm not ready. Mentally or physically. Genkos: ::laughing:: Have a great time. :: And with that they were gone...:: Ensign Genkos Sim MD Medical Officer USS Gorkon G239502GS0
  18. ((Sikuna Colony, Administration Centre)) ::The comm chirped and conversation started with the officers.:: Vess: =/\=Vess to Sevo.=/\= Sevo: =/\= Sevo here, Commander. =/\= Vess: =/\=What’s the ETA on those supplies? We have a very sick woman over here.=/\= Sevo: =/\= Yea...um. We hit a little snag. We made it to the clinic, but came across a very distraught man whose wife is in labor. =/\= ::Eerie understood the concern with the man. During an alternative reality Eerie had almost lost his emotional center with the birth of a child and death his Bolian partner Peiy. She had been lost during childbirth and had sent Eerie into a semi - recluse state for a long time. Eerie knew that emotional support could assist both of the for a long time in the future. While he wasn't keen to assist, he knew that the more support for them could be critical for a long time in the future.:: Eerie: We will take care of situation. Vess: =/\=And yer sure there’s no medical perssonel over there?=/\= Khaveid: =/\= They all evacuated a while ago, Commander. This is a general practice, not a hospital. It's not meant to be staffed during a storm. =/\= ::It was just a few moments later, the Governor had left to get supplies. Eerie had moved up to maintain a more close and personal contact with the woman. He was trying his absolute 'soft' face. Working on those soft skills was he was actually pretty rusty with, but he was going to do his best with her and to assist with the instruments. Eerie had gotten another crash course with his training with the Rangers. It had been a good supplement for the standard Starfleet Emergency Medical Course, but he was happy he wasn't doing the actual delivery. Sevo had much better fine motor skills that Eerie for one.:: Theletha: AAARGH! ::Sevo was actually sweating, but Eerie didn't blame her in the least. Eerie forced a smile on his face and looked into the woman's eyes and was trying to be as non threatening as possible. He lightly touched the shoulder to indicate that everything was just fine.:: A. Sevo: C’mon, Theletha! He’s halfway out! Eerie, how’s she doing up there? Eerie: We are doing just fine.::Quietly.:: :: Eerie didn't tell white lies ever often. However, sometimes if say something others might start believing it as well and that could be very important at time like this. A. Sevo: Did you manage to find a laser scalpel and blanket? Eerie: Here you are. These will help a lot. Eerie: oO Perhaps you should be come a use car salesman? Used cars? Where did that come from?Oo ::Eerie blinked at sometimes his alternative personality would drop interesting thoughts or comments into his reality.:: A. Sevo: A couple more pushes, Theletha, and she’ll be out. ::There was a push and Eerie put his hand into hers a bit awkwardly, but the meaning was apparent.:: A. Sevo: I’ve got her! She’s beautiful. ::The baby started to breath on its own and Eerie gave her a nod to let her know that she had done a good job.:: A. Sevo: Eerie, laser scalpel please. Eerie: Right.::Getting the scalpel and handing it over.:: ::Eerie took a quick glance to see the newborn and it being presented to the mother.:: A. Sevo: Your daughter, Theletha. ::The mother took the little baby. Eerie was happy for both of them. Perhaps this was not as bad as he had thought it would be. At least he didn't have shoot anyone and every seemed to be happy.:: Theletha: Th-thank you! Eerie: Congratulations, you did just fine.::Smiling a bit.::You are both little troopers. 19. BACK - Antidis Memorial Medical Center, Lyaksti’kton (Alpha Sauria IV)) :: The sun’s golden rays danced across the labor room and lit up a few of the shiny metal instruments displayed on the table. The nurses were walking around, with purpose, carrying several tools and sterile cloths. Yiggtissi stood next to the bed. A slight look of confusion on his face. He was positive that he was somewhere else a few minutes ago. He couldn’t quite remember but it he was swear he remembered seeing himself lying on a bed. Something was happening. He felt a hand on his shoulder. :: Dr. Yogish: Yiggtissi! It is time.. :: The Saurian looked down and was met by the smiling face of his wife. As quick as they came, his previous thoughts vanished and all that mattered was this moment. It had taken almost ten months to find and isolate the gene that was responsible for Innuoasag’s infertility but with his mentor’s help, they had done it. The research team, led by Yogish and Yiggtissi, put to bed the nasty DCOP syndrome that had plagued many female Saurian’s over the centuries. It had been a win for the entire species. The Saurian Science Academy had awarded Dr. Yogish with ribbons and plaques and the all the glory that came with it while Yiggtissi had only one motive. Was it selfish? Absolutely. He didn’t care. Curing the terrible disease for the whole, of course, was their intended result but Yiggtissi only had one thought in mind. And I was this moment. :: :: Innuoasag was in the final stages of labor. Sweat had beaded up on her forehead which Yiggtissi carefully wiped way with a sterile cloth. His smiled lovingly at her, knowing that any second, the beautifully speckled egg that would hold their daughter would enter the world. A daughter they thought they would never have. They had spent weeks trying to settle on the perfect name and they always came back to one word. The Saurian language word for miracle. Jainnorra. He glanced up and saw a large group of Saurian’s plastered against the room’s window. Both families of the coupe had come together and were watching. Smiling and laughing at the pure joy of it all. :: Dr. Yogish: Ok Innuoasag, now one more small push and we can greet this wonderful miracle. :: After several seconds, the room was full of happy chatter from the female nurses and the deep chucking of Dr. Yogish. He held up the blue and white speckled egg in a large blue cloth. Yiggtissi leaned down, placing his forehead against Innuoasag’s. :: Yiggtissi: She is here my love. :: Innuoasag could not contain her happiness. Tears of extreme joy ran down her cheeks. Dr. Yogish handed the egg off to the nurses who placed it on a small bio bed. They began various scans as Dr. Yogish came around to the side of the bed and joined Innuoasag. :: Dr. Yogish: ::Whispering.:: We must thank the First One’s for this incredible miracle. I am so happy for you both. Rest and we speak later. :: Dr. Yogish stood tall and gave Yiggtissi a pat on the shoulder. With that, he made his way over to the nurses to assist them in their scans. Innuoasag closes her eyes as the two shared a kiss. Yiggtissi heard his eldest brother shouting from the outside the room. He was dressed in his Saurian Defense Fleet bdu’s and pounded on the glass. :: Guzk: Way to go little one!! :: He grabbed a passing nurse, who was clearly shocked. :: That’s my little brother and his wife in there!! :: The nurse freed herself from the brute and quickly scurried down the hall. Yiggtissi had finished his intimate kiss and was watching the interaction. He chuckled. :: Yiggtissi: Well it appears that Guzk is very happy for us. Innuoasag: :: Laughing. :: So I hear. Why don’t you greet them? I need my rest. :: Yiggtissi nodded and planted one more kiss on Innuoasag’s forehead. As he made his way to the door, he caught a glimpse of his daughter’s beautiful shell sitting on the warming bed. For Saurian’s, the coloring of the egg would be talked about for years. There were various meanings for various egg colorings that had been passed down from generation to generation. It was customary to save the egg, as Yiggtissi’s mother had done with all of her children. They were displayed, proudly, on a shelf in her home. The door’s swished opened and the Saurian doctor joined his family in the hall. His father, Tukmeeh, was the first to greet him. :: Tukmeeh: :: Grabbing his shoulders. :: I am so proud of you my son. Treasure this moment in time. :: His mother, Cairittin, was next in line. :: Cairittin: Look at that beautiful coloring. With those deep blues, she is going to be very athletic. :: Being a man of science, Yiggtissi dismissed the old “wives” tales surrounding the coloring of the eggs. Of course, there was no way to tell that just by looking. Or so he thought. Later in life, his daughter would prove him wrong. She would become the most athletic in the family, even besting her uncle Guzk in several hunting trips. :: Yiggtissi: Mother, you know I do not believe in those superstitions. Cairittin: You will see. :: She kissed his cheek and wiped away her tears. Yiggtissi made it through the rest of his family as well as Innuoasag’s, until he came to his brother. :: Guzk: Well look at you Doctor Yiggtissi. Yiggtissi: I am glad you could be here Guzk. I did not think you would be able to attend. Guzk: There was no way I would this the birth of my only niece. :: His smile faded. :: I love you brother. :: Yiggtissi was taken aback by the show of affection from Guzk. He remembered as a child, this was the Saurian who thought it was a good idea to throw Yiggtissi head first into the deep end of a large river. Simply because he thought it was funny. As he stared at his brother, he noticed the hallway fading away into nothingness. Just as before, it was happening again. :: :: Yiggtissi stood in the vast of nothingness. The previous incident before he found himself in the labor room quickly filled his mind and it all came back to him. He felt a presence but was hesitant to turn around. His wasn’t quite sure he could stand seeing the mythical God he had seen before. Slowly turning his head, he was face to face with the glowing figure of Mellitt once again. :: Yiggtissi: Please….What is this? Mellitt: These are the points in life that you hold dearest to your heart Yiggtissi. These points in time are simply what you have allowed me to show you. I am here only to help your transition easier. Yiggtissi: I have no intention of transitioning…into whatever you think you are preparing for me. If that is your only reason for existing in…:: He waved his arms in the air.::…whatever this is, then you have wasted your time. Mellitt: Your alien friends are very assiduous in saving your life. However, time is not a luxury you have. Your physical shell is dying and if you do not prepare yourself, you will not be allowed to transition and your essence will be lost forever. :: Yiggtissi rubbed his forehead in frustration. :: Yiggtissi: I grow tired of this game. Please just….leave me alone. Let me be. Mellitt: You are preparing to show me one more vision it would seem…. :: The white room began to change into something else. Walls and various other objects began to materialize around him. He closed his eyes hoping that it would all go away, hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home. But it would not be. :: (To Be Continued) Lieutenant (JG) Yiggtissi Medical Officer USS Gorkon G239406Y10
