The Star Trek universe has unlimited potential for storytelling.

Even with The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager all taking place within the same time period each show had its own unique premise but thanks to shows like Enterprise (later Star Trek: Enterprise) and Star Trek: Discovery, the Star Trek timeline has expanded beyond the 23rd and 24th centuries explored in the TOS and TNG eras, now featuring the 22nd century and, if including the ‘Short Trek’ episode ‘Calypso’, the 43rd century respectively.

We know that the Section 31 TV movie is set during ‘The Lost Era’ (the time between the original Star Trek movies and The Next Generation), there’s been a lot of talk of the next Star Trek cinematic release being a prequel and there are multiple shows in the works including Starfleet Academy which takes place in the 32nd century as well as the Tawny Newsome penned live action comedy, potentially in the vein of Parks & Recreation, that is believed to take place on the planet Risa in the 25th century.

With the Star Trek canon increasing to expand with new shows and movies, we’d love to ask you what era you would want the next Star Trek show or movie to take place and why?

Do you want to stick with something familiar or go where no one has boldly gone before?

I want something that is post-Nemesis, but pre-Picard. And more Romulans! Always more Romulans.

I myself am going with The Lost Era.

Largely for aesthetic reasons. I love the uniforms, the classic blue and green LCARS, the refit Connie era ship designs.

A lot of big stuff happened during that time; the Khitomer Massacre, the Tomed Incident, the Betreka Nebula Incident, the Bajoran Occupation, the creation of the Federation-Klingon Alliance.

Plus I want to see more Alan Ruck as Captain Harriman!

I'm torn. On the one hand, I do want to see the further developments. What comes next. On the other hand, I'd really like to see how the Federation became what it is. When did they meet the various member worlds? What were the growing pains like?

That said.... I'm happy getting any new trek.

Wondering how well that will age when the Section 31 TV movie comes out 😬 I hope it's good but the trailer hurts me.

What is it about your chosen eras that appeals? Or alternatively, what eras have you no interest in seeing any more of, and why?

Don't worry... you won't be judged.

Voted for the TNG era, my favourite Star Trek era.  When I was young!

I'm really not a fan of Discovery and the far-far future.  Much prefer the established galaxy from the TNG era when it took crews working together to solve problems and not just one seemingly amazing character to fix everything...

I'd really enjoy seeing more from the Post Nemesis era. Partially because that's where we are writing in the timeline here at 118. Also, because I find the "legacy" references to the older eras immensely entertaining. Besides, while filling in the gaps from the early years adds flavor and is immensely enjoyable time watch, Star Trek has always been about setting sights on the future.

Post Nemesis, because I think we need to connect it to Discovery far future.

But honestly as long as we have Trek shows I will take them in any timeline. My now favorite is Strange New Worlds so I will take that step back into the past.

I'd preface with "unpopular opinion" but according to the poll, it may be a commonly shared opinion... I don't want to see more in the far future. We aren't there yet and it feels strange writing from both ends of the timeline to meet in the middle. Knowing the "end" or far future, sort of boxes in the possible stories for where the timeline currently is. It's like reading the last chapter of the book first.
