What would our response be if a ship of a design that we did not recognize came alongside and sent a boarding team onto our ship? A rescue mission even though we did not think we needed rescuing? An attack? I suspect that our response would be more along the lines of defending ourselves than simply watching to see what the invaders managed to do. Perhaps Eridani is simply defending itself. To Ensign Semara's point more directly, have we tried communicating with Eridani? It would cost us nothing. At worst, we would be ignored. At best, we might gain valuable information about what is happening.

This is a great snippet- inventive dialogue and delightful characterization. Awesome stuff, Stephen!

Like, I laughed after cause it's funny, and cause it put me in the mind of Mike the TV. If you know, you know. But upon first read when the mind made the connection, and with the ship seeming a little crazy. I just read this as an allusion to Hexadecimal and was like. Oh shoot we are in trouble. 

But then I just started laughing again.

Having just finished Dune (oy, what a homophobic but fascinating slog) I find myself appreciating worldbuilding references to the universe that may never be mentioned or contextualized again. Shawn has always done such a good job of this- he's taken the Kressari from background scene filler to fleshed out civilization, and it's through little snippets like these that he makes the world, its people and his character in particular take on a life of their own. Great stuff, Shawn.

It's inspiring right? Like, seeing a writer getting into not just their character's backstory. But getting to do a little world building and lore building. Who else sees this and kind of wants to get a character from an obscure race to do this sort of stuff with? I'm eyeing those dinosaur officers now more and more.

All caught up on sims and just going to put it here. Amelia Semara, all their character interactions and descriptions. I'm loving it. I can't copy whole sims into a post, and don't wanna pick and choose little gems at the moment. So just a general it's all good for now and will quote later.

The writer for Talia does a scary ship, and now I want star trek horror stories. Like I've never entertained the idea of horror in trek. But now that it's been pointed out to me by, chucky ship, I kind of want it.

Jacin shuddered at the mention of peach cobbler. The exact dish that the Sheliak who had impersonated Connor had misspoke with. For the briefest of moments she wondered if she was still there and this was some cruel simulation of freedom. 

o0 No. No way. This is real. 0o

I don't know if this was intentional, or accidental, but either way it's a brilliant snippet and passive use of dialogue. Well done.

If he looked at the swirling prismal cloud long enough, he thought he might see Vanta in there. Right next to the crew of the Eridani.

Routine is often to blame for losing the zest for life. In Ras’s scenario, he had begun craving the mundane. The expected. The…well, routine. She clung on with her feet, and rooted through the thick hair with her beak.  Perfect.  Many beakfuls here today!  A throat full of crunchy, ripe food clinging here.

 

Better still, excellent bedding!  Sated, she clung to the side, and pulled out wads and wads of shedding fur, holding them in her beak as she launched herself headlong into the air once again.  Home wasn’t far.

 

She cut a straight line back across the glittering pond, and dropped into a tree’s branches.  A bunch of twigs were already anchored into a solid knot of branches, but it was nowhere near complete.  More would be needed, so she set to work.

Gosh, but again, could quote whole sims with how much I like them. I have to ask if I can do that. That be an appreciation post right? 

Also, if I made Sonya the pet psychic jokes. Would anyone get that now in the year 2025?
