"That's supposed to be on fire" - And other stuff you can hear on the USS Thor

Reid: I’m science officer, not a tactician.  :: Shrugging and turning to the Lieutenant ::

Richards: Beats me, Sir. We really could use a good engineer.

Don't look at Teller.  He'll make you explode! 😄

Anton then began to explain a scene that took place on the bridge of the Nashira.

(( Deck 27, Bridge of the Nashira ))

Ensign Red’Shir: Commodore, I have the report you requested.

Evil Commodore V’Airu: Not good enough! Do it again!

Ensign Red’Shir: But Sir… this is the sixth time. There is only so much I can put in a report about the cleanliness of the transporter bay, Sir.

Evil Commodore V’Airu: I’ve heard enough! Ensign, if I could demote you any lower I would… on second thought, StarFleet regulations be damned! I make the rules on the Nashira! Consider this an official demotion with reprimand, Sub Ensign Red’Shir.

The Atmosphere on the bridge was as though someone went around and turned half of the lights off and made sure the remaining half blinked intermittently.

Evil Commodore V’Airu: Alright alright… that’s enough.

Wait… that wasn’t Commodore V’Airu… that was… Teller?

Anton snapped out of it.

That's...that's uncanny.  HOW DID HE KNOW? 😄

//Ships Log, Supplemental, Stardate 239808.19, Cmdr. Geoffrey Teller reporting.
...The Thor has been effectively navigating the storms edge for the last several hours and while the ride has by no means been comfortable, our shields have held strong and we are in position to spring our little trap on the Nashira.  As this exercise was intended to evaluate crew performance in non-ideal conditions, I must take a moment to offer commendations for Lt. Jg. Reid and Lt. Jg. Richards, both of whom have performed their duties with the professionalism and creativity of officers with far more experience.  I'm also quickly coming to respect the abilities of our new Engineering officer Ensign Rocheford.  While I'm certain the next few hours will be a test for ship and crew I'm extremely confident in both.  I'm certain we'll honor the Thor's proud legacy.

And I'm going to get that damn lawn dart if it's the last thing I god da....wait is this still transcribing....

Yes, Geoff, it is. 😛

Ishani had developed dozens if not hundreds of distinct skills since joining Starfleet but one stood above all others when it came to practicality and universal utility - the ability to quickly and comfortably fall into a deep slumber at any time and in any position.

This sounds like my husband!

Almost died laughing at this one @Geoffrey Teller.

Richards: I don’t suppose someone would like to tell me what is going on? Also, don’t you guys think we should be wearing cloaks?

Yes.  This should be a hard and fast rule!  Cloaks!

Anton didn’t know the answer to this question. If only there was a retired lawyer somewhere.

This is probably only amusing to those who were a part of a plot on the Thor, but it made me chuckle.  Aton's player performed as a drunken retired lawyer during an inquiry of Commodore Aron Kells.

Lol, gotta love little pushes against the 4th wall!

Greaves: As much as I'd like a third glass, I still need to get a workout in and finish that report. I don't think you'd appreciate reports of a drunken Marine in the gym, nor do I want to see the aftermath of writing out my true feelings while less than sober.

Come on, live a little!

He burst into the door of the science lab. The box smashed into his fingers making his face contort in pain, but no sound came out -  Then they slid open; he knew the Thor was laughing at him. For some reason, he didn’t get along well with female ships. And no, he knew full well there were all types of ship genders. One understands these things when in engineering.

Corelli is a true Engineer.

Ukinix: On the USS Veritas under Captain Roshanara Rahman, she was a little beauty.  The ship, I mean, not the Captain.  Although, the Captain was a little pocket rocket too.

Don't let Nara hear you say that!

Wes wasn't sure how to respond to the man's non chalant observation of singing fuzz. For a spell he debated on digging into the eccentric response more, but decided that was a job for another time. Now they needed to restore power.

Dude, you need to get your priorities straight.  Singing fuzz TOTALLY takes precedence.

Greaves: (Stern, threatening growl) Ensign, where have you been?

Fargo: Sir, the Physician Assistant, Wong was his name, he said he would contact the Commodore and explain. But I was drugged, and robbed sir, my combadge stolen, my uniform destroyed. I was stranded until Security found us… I… I... I just would never have missed a check in sir. I am sorry, it is indefensible,  I accept whatever punishment you decide on sir.

As the man stammered out his response, the chime of an incoming message rang on the Major's desk and Wes spun on his heel, marching to his chair. With a forceful motion he pointed at the chair in the corner of the office.

Greaves: Sit.

He didn't watch the Ensign to see if the man did as instructed, and instead the Marine pulled up the message that had populated on his padd. It was addressed from the Amity Chief Medical Officer. As he read, Wes let the silence and the tension in the room build before he finally dropped his padd on the desk with a metallic clank.

Greaves: You know Ensign, when this happened to me, two of my friends ended up getting engaged.

Starfleet Matchmaking Services is a thing.

An updated version of the Marines' hymn from our very own IC and OOC Marine, Wes Greaves!

Quote

Greaves

♫...From the halls of Valles Marineris, to the shores of Nimbus 3

We will fight the Federation’s battles, in space, on land, and sea

First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean,

We are proud to claim the title, of Federation Marine

Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze, from dawn to setting suns,

We’ve fought in every clime and place where we could take our guns,

In the snow of far off Andorian plains, to sunny Betazed scenes,

You will find us always on the job, the Federation Marines

Here’s to health to you and to our Corps, which we are proud to serve,

In many a strife we’ve fought for life, and never lost our nerve,

If the the rest of the federation ever looks on heaven’s scenes

They will find the streets are guarded, by Federation Marines...

They probably want all the gold for themselves” Anton thought.

Richards: They probably want all of the gold for themselves.

Internal dialect wasn’t Anton’s forte.

Anton's father would be having a meltdown right now. He would be so proud that his son was doing something that at least sort resembled archaeology.

Richards: We could find some really interesting things, things that could actually change the representation of history regarding this place.

That was to say, if there was any history to be written. Anton paused. Remembering that he was a security officer, not an archaeologist.

Anton’s metaphorical dad was back to being angry.

Anton's metaphorical dad is about to have a conniption fit.

The sound of a sharp clink shot through the shuttle as a sheet of alloy debris could be seen twirling away from the Tigris through the aft window.

Garcia: (With a sheepish grin.) Raise shields.

She chuckled.

Dar: Shields raised, you scratch it buy it sir.

No wonder Ben's always broke!

Rouiancet: =/\= This is Rouiancet on the Thor to the Tigris, requesting clarification on the signal you sent. =/\=

Which was, of course, a polite way to say "what the hell is this?"

Being polite is always best practice.

Kel:  Just be careful not to send the wrong signals. I heard a swarm of space-born life forms tried to mate with the USS Voyager. I’ve never delivered a starship before.

This had me rolling!

Sinkholes?! Waves!? PARTICLES?! Just when Anton had thought he had escaped into a world prior to the “larger” and more complex portion of the English vocabulary, it all came rolling back like a… wave… or something.

Luckily Anton was a “Starfleet Officer”, and therefore could take any obscure situation and put it into perspective.

Richards:  Oh yeah! This is kind of like the ending to Captain Cool Guy 2, where he destroys the giant tower, only to have the tower come back again!

Peri glanced at Anton, but she offered no further commentary.

She clearly hadn’t had the absolute pleasure of escorting the entire intergalactic alliance to victory against the plague demon monsters… Whatever.

Peri turned to make sure Wes was truly on his feet and unharmed before she listened to her own advice.

I’m sure Anton is fine… no really. Don’t worry about it.

Who cares about Anton, right? 😄

Brodie: That’s weird…the ship's chronometer keeps jumping around…like it’s trying to calibrate and failing every time.

Kel: ::looking around at the senior staff::  That can’t be a good sign.

oO Just a sign of the TIMES I guess...Oo

Katsim: Semiconductor.

Greaves: Huh?

Katsim: To gain some control over the electrons, we could use a material that acts like a semiconductor.

Richards: Response

Their upward trajectory angled slightly with the tube. By the shape of the metal and the uneven nature of the bend, Wes assumed it was not part of the original design, but was instead due to damage to the hull. Regardless, they had reached two decks above, and Wes turned them 90 degrees to follow the length of the deck, watching carefully for some kind of exit hatch.

Greaves: Okay, so fuel and a semiconductor. Grocery list is growing, but where is the grocery store?

Isn't finding one YOUR job? 😄

From the narrative of Aron Kells:

For a moment the commodore seemed to be pleased, even smiling.  Then his smiled disappeared.  No CO anywhere wanted to be in the same position as James Kirk.

To which position are you referring?
