  1. I love drinking. I love Star Trek. I love drinking while watching Star Trek! My wife and I went on the Star Trek cruise back in January and had an absolute blast. Below are Star Trek drinks they served on the ship and what was in them. Have fun making these at home; I know I've been! 😁 My wife's camera has a big resolution so here's a link to what the drink menus looked like if you want to see it: Page 1: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/387290274046672898/503206494108385292/IMG_0292.jpg Page 2: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/387290274046672898/503206495383715840/IMG_0290.jpg I didn't try all of them but I have a few favorites and marked those. Also note, I'm not a professional bartender so I can't really give you exact amounts of these mixes. Drink Recipes - Basics Raktajino Coffee Liqueur, Chocolate Liqueur, Butterscotch Schnapps, Cream, Chocolate Syrup Andorian Ale Raspberry Vodka, Blue Curacao, Lemon-Lime soda Picard's High Tea Gin, Citrus Vodka, Tequila, Rum, Triple Sec, Sweet and Sour, Ginger Ale Note: This wasn't bad but I felt like it was missing something; I'm not sure what though. Tranya Tequila, Grapefruit Juice, Triple Sec, Tonic Water, Angostura Bitters Risa Moon Shine Midori Liqueur, Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice, Coconut Cream Gowron's Choice Bloodwine Pinot Noir Wine, Bourbon, Orange Juice, Simple Syrup Note: Red wine and bourbon sounded disgusting to me so I didn't get this one. Let me know what it's like if you're crazy enough to try it. Saurian Brandy Vanilla Vodka, Banana Liqueur, Chocolate Liqueur Romulan Ale ((My favorite. You'll hit warp 9.5*)) Rum, Vodka, Blue Curacao, Ginger Ale Aldebaran Whiskey Jack Daniels Whiskey, Lemon-Lime Soda Note: You can just use your favorite whiskey for this one. That's just what they put on their menu. Drink Recipes - Specialties Guinan Guilty Pleasure Vodka, Gin, White Rum, Scotch, Bourbon, Tequila, Triple Sec, Brandy, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice Note: 8 different liquors. This will make you hit warp ten. Give someone your car keys because you won't be sobered up till tomorrow morning.. For The Love Of Troi Chocolate Vodka, Coconut Vodka, Caramel Sauce, Coconut Milk topped with Whipped Cream and Caramel Sauce Borg Invasion ((Favorite)) Vodka, Lemon Juice, Sweet and Sour, Beer Note: My one suggestion to this is preparing it like a beer margarita by using frozen lemon juice concentrate. Chaotica's Death Ray Coconut Rum, Bacardi Superior, Bacardi 151, Banana Liqueur, Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice Note: This one may be a pain to make. Bacardi 151 is discontinued and depending where you live, you may not be able to get something at its proof level. If you can get 151 proof, the only alternative I really know of is Cruzan 151. However, I'd imagine its taste conflicting with the cranberry juice. Orion's Belt Midori, Malibu Rum, Pineapple Juice Note: I'm not sure on the availability of Malibu outside of the US but I think any coconut rum will do. James Tea Kirk Bacardi Superior Rum, Gin, Vodka, Blue Curacao, Lemon Lime Soda, Sweet and Sour
  2. In a nutshell I had a really weird dream from the point of view of Tasha, among other things (such as my 9 year old sister driving a car) there was one part of this dream where Tasha was involved in a series of Scouting activities. We know from the Enterprise episode Rouge Planet that Scouting was still around in the 22nd century. There was a reference to them in The Wrath of Khan too. This odd dream led me to spend far too long pondering how Scouts may have evolved and changed from how I know it now to how it is in the late 24th century. Some of my thoughts were around the inclusion of other species. It makes sense in my mind that the Andorians, Vulcans, Trill and other races may have picked up on this idea. Or it could be possible that they had their own pre-existing versions? Another assumption I had was that there would be Scout troops on many Federation worlds. But, how much contact would troops have with those on other planets? Would a troop from earth visit one on Vulcan? Would a Vulcan troop go to Andoria for a camp? And what of Jamborees, we have an international Jamboree every few years, would there be an interplanetary Jamboree? How many thousands of people would attend that! My third major thought was centered around awards. How much has it changed? In Rouge Planet, Reed mentions that he received the exobiology badge, one which does not currently exist. How many others are there which are new? And which badges would have changed? One that we currently have is Aircraft Spotter, is there a Spacecraft Spotter? Please leave your thoughts below as I think it would be great to gather other opinions. Additionally, I now plan to add to Tasha's bio, it seems that she was a scout.
  3. I came across these online and thought they were fun. They are the work of user on Deviantart (https://flynebula.deviantart.com/), FlyNebula, and no, the Show/Movie is not real.
  4. @Maxwell Traenor just shared this with me. A TNG script written by a predictive algorhythm - and we can't stop laughing, so here it is for you to enjoy as well http://botnik.org/content/tng.html
  5. So I shared this on chat and folks really liked it, so I thought I'd share it here, too. I found this website/personal project some Trekkie made of trying to create an online Star Trek map, taking into account the Star Charts book and other sources. You can explore it here: http://startrekmap.com/ It has location search, zoom and pan like Google Maps, and some other neat features all packaged in a LCARS interface. It also makes me want to someday have us create our own Google Maps-like feature where we can show the Star Trek universe as simmed in the StarBase 118 universe (for instance, there is a Starbase 118 on the startrekmap.com but it's in a difference place from where we put our venerable station. I've seen other fictional maps that use the Google Maps presentation style such as: https://quartermaester.info/ https://towerofthehand.com/maps/westeros.html http://lotrproject.com/map/ But I have no idea how to do anything like that. Does anyone have any technical skill or knowledge about this?
  6. Hey, guys. I was putzing around on the internet and found out that Star Trek Adventures by Mophideus has merchandise nao. Pre-order your shiny star trek things here.
  7. It's on Netflix now! Has anyone watched it? Just finished it myself. I thought the format was manic and strange - reminded me of a crazy, disjointed and confusing story that Shatner tried to tell at the convention I was at last month - but one thing that really stuck with me was the stuff about Star Trek's optimistic vision of the future. We need that right now in uncertain times! Makes me hope, desperately, that the reason the new show is delayed is so they can retool the concept to be less technocratic and more about that vision of hope for humanity. Anyway, if you've watched this documentary, what'd you think?
  8. 50 years ago today Star Trek premiered on television! To celebrate, let's share our first Star Trek memories! Mine was flipping through channels one day and discovering the funny head of Mr. Worf. I stayed to watch and got hooked. The sad thing was it was 1994, right at the end of the series. Fortunately though it was still early into the 90s golden age of movies, multiple series, and more! And yup, over twenty years later, I'm still hooked. What's your first Star Trek memory?

  11. I'm wondering if there's a fleet-wide consensus on how synthehol works? How has everyone been playing synthehol in their sims? I didn't find anything in our wiki or forums, and Memory-Alpha is vague. The best answer I found draws from TNG episodes and an interview with Roddenberry: Synthehol is intoxicating. However, any rise in a person's adrenaline counters and eliminates synthehol's intoxicating effects. An officer summoned to the bridge in Red Alert will be almost instantly sober. Synthehol is non-toxic (there is no "synthehol-poisoning") and is non-addictive. It looks, smells, and tastes similar to alcohol -- to all but a connoisseur. Any thoughts?
  12. I would watch this show. Made by the same guy who did the Worf of Wall Street trailer:

  15. Reading about the upcoming UFP presidential election has left me with some questions about how the Federation is constituted. I know the Star Trek version of the UFP was modeled after the UN, perhaps with a stronger central government, but how does the Federation operate in our SB118 variant of the universe? Is there in existence an in-character UFP constitution or basic law that outlines the various organs of government, and how the member planets interact with it? I've seen some other Trek sites that have a Federation constitution or Articles of Federation that seem to fill in the blanks. Obviously the Federation has a (mostly) common economic and defense policy, but has there ever been a discussion about the degree of federalism that exists? Are some worlds more autonomous than others? Surely the vast network of small colonies must have a different organizational arrangeemnt than planets like Earth or Vulcan. Judging by the news articles about the election, it appears the UFP President is popularly elected, and that the functions of head of state and head of government are both vested in the President, like in the U.S. system. There exists a Federation Council in canon, but is this a legislature comprising representatives from all member planets, or a cabinet? Any insights, or opinions, or suggestions, are welcome!
  16. Happy birthday to Grace Lee Whitney, AKA Yeoman Janice Rand on Star Trek: TOS and several movies. I didn't know that she was written out of TOS after less than half a season. According to a convention she spoke at that I saw her at, she was the one that came up with the miniskirt idea for TOS, to add some "Va-Va-Voom!" to the show; in her own words! Star Trek.com doesn't have a news post for her, as they are too busy with April 1 pranks. -- I feel a special connection to her as she is a local celebrity here. She lives in the same housing association as my parents do (and myself, when I lived with my parents through high school and college). I live in a nearby town, it is still only 20 minutes away. People see her all the time at our local supermarket, diner, and at the local church. She is a very down-to-earth lady. I almost had the opportunity to have lunch with her once as a teenager, but I came down with the flu and had to miss it. Regret that to this day. Still, I got an autograph of her when she attended a small Fresno Sci-fi convention when I was even younger!
  17. Yay! Fun fact: we are closer to First Contact then we are to the premier of Star Trek in 1966!
  18. Despite what I erroneously said in the chat this past weekend, it looks like Creation Entertainment is celebrating Star Trek's 50th anniversary at 2016 conventions (not this year's 2015 conventions). Here's their list of conventions they're doing in 2016: Dallas, TX: Apr. 8-10, 2016Las Vegas, NV: Aug. 3-7, 2016Cherry Hill, NJ: Aug. 26-28, 2016Chicago, IL: Sep. 9-11, 2016I'm definitely considering the Las Vegas convention! Anyone else planning on attending any?
  19. So, my question is pretty straightforward. What do you guys think the Federation uses as currency/money, if any? I know Gene Roddenberry has emphatically said "no money in the future," however, some producers such as Ronald D. Moore disagreed and have tried to vaguely imply that there is some form of currency and economy in the Federation, or at least on Earth. There are numerous examples of characters using or mentioning money in some fashion on this page: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Currency I'm kind of leaning towards the Star Trek: Online route - where people have "Energy Credits." This would be a numerical value representing the amount of energy needed to replicate an object, modified by some number or formula calculating supply and demand. I doubt Latinum would have penetrated deeply into the Federation or on Earth as much as it did on the fringes like on Deep Space 9. --- The Victory is being hauled in for a major refit, and the crew is getting a few weeks of shore leave. I want my characters to tour Earth!
  20. It's Valentines Day. As I was leaving the house this morning, I was wondering which main character throughout the Star Trek franchise I would want to send a Valentine's Day gift. So, who would you choose? Let's keep it limited to the main characters of each show/movie series. Me? I'd probably send some flowers to Doctor Crusher.
