A slender sapphire digit reached out to tap at the screen to shut it off before the voice over prattled off the small print. Sinking back she reached to pick up a long, crystalline pipe, and set the prismatic tablet on top. With a small tap of a well hidden button, the tablet briefly ignited into rapidly color changing flames before simmering into bubbling liquid. Contently she sighed, enjoying the moment of peace before tilting her head back to release a small hazy purple smoke ring that dispersed as it made contact with the ceiling. 

 

Beeping from another device on her carved desk broke the momentary peace. Strikingly upturned, youthfully large and wide set onyx voids flicked towards it with indifference before she wordlessly  reached to lightly tap it in response. 

 

Security Office Vizit: Chairman Ualara, the interlopers we were warned about by the Supreme Director are in waiting room 4B.

 

Ualara: All alive I presume? 

 

Vizit: Yes Chairman. Would you like us to have them shipped to the Supreme Director’s Royal Headquarters? 

 

Inhaling slowly and exhaling another smoke ring, a muted satisfaction appeared on her lips, before Ualara rose up from her chair. Turning to a full length body mirror, Ualara took a moment to admire herself, as she considered her next steps. The Chairman's skin was a brilliant sapphire blue with deeper royal colored markings dappled pattern along her cheek bone and ridges, and iridescent glitter like markings were painted across her features. Along her contoured browed ridges and under her eyes were a few well placed diamond like stones fixed in place. Fitted to her frame immaculately was a reflective powder blue jumpsuit with a studded belt around her middle to accent her slender frame, a standard of beauty unreachable by most Danni without the resources she had, but of course, it was all natural. 

 

Lifting her wrist, she fiddled with a device gifted to her by the Grends and did a quick visual recording of her outfit, striking a few muted 'hardly trying' poses. How could she forget her outfit of the day for Tidbitter, after all, she wasn’t only the chairman of Korelite Jewels but she had also become a viral sensation that the Zet were starting to enjoy. She was good for business and she needed to make sure this new king was just as aware as the old had been.

 

Vizit:  Chairman? 

 

Ualara: No. ::she dropped her wrist once satisfied:: I’ll be sending a message directly to the Supreme Director regarding their capture. 

 

There was an opportunity in this to make a good impression on the new king, to keep her position she’d secured, and push the Danni forward in the galactic community. 

 

Vizit: What about the protesters?
 

She sighed, that was an issue wasn’t it? The flooding had been an unexpected complication none of them could have predicted and with King’s death made it all the worse. Now they had the Supreme Director to adapt to in the midst of the natural disasters and dissatisfied people. All this worrying was going to dull her glow. 

Ualara: Interrogate them for any information they have regarding possible underground organization or if they have any information on our guests. ::She pauses:: Offer their family higher rations and better lodgings if we can get any specific names or affiliated companies funding them. We can also offer monetary compensation for any suffering they have if they agree to sign a non-disclosure agreement. ::stands straight up suddenly inspired:: Use the new template King  Ma'det'ain'ths'ng'in'Grend sent over from their PR company.

 

A hint of a smirk spread at the thought. She needed to show the Danni could keep up with the Zet, and could use their methods to help with stability in the region. 

 

Vizit: Understood, Chairman. 

 

With another beep the communication ended and Ualara was once again left alone with her thoughts. She needed to prepare, collect and control her excitement for what she was about to do next. The previous King had been easy to appease so long as his ego was fed, his ideas were complimented, but the Supreme Director was still an unknown factor. Where one Deathless fell another took its place and so long as she kept herself on the good side and proved herself invaluable, she was certain their dealings would continue uninterrupted. Clearing her throat, made a soft ‘hmm’ before deciding she was satisfied with the presentation of her voice. 

 

She unhooked the device on her wrist and moved to set it on the front of her desk.

 

Ualara: Zi’ri, begin recording. 

 

A light flickered to life from the device. Ualara took her seat once again in her chair, but this time she made certain she was posed gracefully with her pipe, legs crossed over the arm, her crystalline wedge platforms in view to show there was no aspect of her image ignored. Beside the film could be reused for tidbitter content if synced to proper music or reactions, whichever was trending. Everything about her was planned and yet she made sure she slumped just enough to make it all look completely effortless.

 

Zi’ri: Recording…

 

Ualara: Supreme Director Toal’Dius, this is Chairman Ualara of the Korelite Jewels rightful owner to the Maiton mining operations. I wanted to personally reach out to say that we have detained four individuals that match your descriptions of interlopers. ::she shifted a little to take an elegant draw from her pipe:: We will be questioning the individuals here but I am afraid we cannot provide transport due to ongoing protests that while under control, we believe these people to have used to their advantage. 

 

Calculatedly she’d look towards the window with a view of the mines before blowing another smoke ring and returning her attention to the screen. 

 

Ualara:  Operations to break down the protests are in action but these things take time. Perhaps I could use my personal security to deliver these individuals once our interrogations finish and we could arrange a business meeting? After all, I'd like to know the Dynamo these advertisements speak of after having operated as one of the previous King’s contacts in influencing my people to see the larger picture. You and I could be of great help to one another. I look forward to your reply and I hope to meet your eloquence

 

After a few moments she’d sink back in her chair and finally breathe. 

 

Ualara: Zi’ri stop record. Edit out all footage three seconds after vocals stop. Send directly to the Royal Headquarters. 

 

Zi’ri: Message edited. Message Sent to the Royal Headquarters of King Toal’Dius. 

 

What was next on the checklist? Right, post the outfit of the day to Tidbitter, record some inspirational message of unity to the people regarding the mine’s closure and management of the floods. She had a board meeting or two but she could always send her assistant to take notes while she did the fun part, interrogating their guests. Plucking up her Zi’ri she reattached it to her wrist and began rearranging her schedule. Again she’d reach out and push a panel on her desk. 

 

Ualara: Merna, could you please have the hospitality staff prepare a few diamond dust cocktails for our detained guests and have Officer Vizit and his team escort them to my office? ::pauses and leans forward to add firmly:: also make them take their shoes off, they were near the mines, and I just had the floors polished. 

 

Now the real challenge, how did spin this so she earned both the favor of their guests and the new King.
