Lt Cmdr. Avander Promontory: Boom Shakalaka

Recommended Posts

Never before has there been such an accurate read of Lhandon in a sim. Often the best way to see what is coming across in your sims is to see what other people write in their sims. @Avander Promontory's sims are like a mirror and they are shining examples of how exactly to sim, and how to take what your writing partners are trying to get across and elevate that. , while adding to the wider narrative and not forgetting your own character at the same time.

Quote

((Bottom of a Ravine, Near the Talents, Sbadni Moon))

A premature explosion, no contact with overwatch or the other marines, and now there were palace guards swarming their shuttle.

Promontory: (whispering) Careful, there may be more around.

Nilsen: Everyone one, in there. That cave should give us some cover.

He indicated a small overcropping in the rocks.

Lahl: Aye sir.

oO “Aye sir” indeed, give the man two full pips and watch him go! Oo

Well, Avander had asked Lhandon to lead the way and ducking behind some cover for a moment would allow them to get their bearings.

oO At least he’s not running off half-cocked. I’ll count that as progress. Oo

Avander gingerly hobbled after the others.

Nilsen: :To Promontory:: You should take that weight off your feet Sir, I saw that walk, and I don’t care you’re my commanding officer, we’re not making that any worse.

Avander held up his hand to caution the lieutenant. Avander would make his own judgement calls about his health. He stood for a second, out of spite, and then, of his own accord, leaned against the rock wall and massaged his busted knee.

Nilsen:: To himself:: the medkits are in the shuttle…damn. ::to Richard:: Right, I’d normally say we go for dinner first but needs must, shirt off Anton, lets sort out those shards.

Richards: Just a couple shards, and then we can skip the doctor all together.

And now Lhandon also had his tunic off, impressively ripping the sturdy fabric into make-shift bandage strips.

Promontory: Just until we can access our shuttle. Regardless of injury, we need to stay on mission.

Nilsen: In a pervious life, I wore green and was a SARS pilot, first aid was a requirement of us all. I ain’t going to remove them, that will cause more bleeding, but I’m going to make some padding around the larger ones, just incase they fall out. We need to keep them from moving and causing more damage.

Lahl: That’s impressive sir.

Despite, or perhaps, because of the treatment, the officers continued to winch in pain

Richards: Ouch! Hey watch it there pokey.

Promontory: Those shards are pretty colorful Mr. Richards. You now have a natural camouflage if you ever need to go undercover in a stained glass factory.

oO A factory that has been bombed out. Oo

Nilsen: For your ears, to halt the bleeding. Don’t shove it in.

Lahl: Thank you sir.

Richards: Yeah… Thanks.

Promontory: So, Lieutenant. It looks like you’re on a roll, what do you propose we focus on next?

Nilsen: The shuttle though. Lahl, can you check our tricorders, are any of them still working? If so, see what systems on the shuttle you can access.

Avander nodded. Another sensible move. Maybe he should put Lhandon officially in charge of an away team soon.

Lahl: I’ll see what I can do sir.

As she worked, the others continued to tend to their wounds until interrupted by an abrupt interjection.

Lahl (as Vedrin): Hold on, what am I doing here?

The ensign sounded… off, but Avander couldn’t quite place his finger on how.

Richards: ::glancing at his wounds:: I’m constantly wondering the same thing…

Promontory: Everything already Mr. Lahl?

Whatever was going on seemed shaken off.

Lahl: I’m fine. ::continuing to look at her tricorder for what systems she could connect to::

Nilsen: Right, put that back on, that’s enough showing those gains Anton, you’ll make me look like a skinny twink.

Anton slapped away Nilsen’s ministering hands.

Richards: Hold on! (beat) I’m fine too.

Avander smiled at the pushback from the patient. Perhaps the kid still had a few things to learn about leading others.

Promontory: Mr. Nilsen, perhaps you can assist with reestablishing a link with our shuttle?

But his additional help was premature.

Lahl: Alright sirs, it appears that I can connect to the internal and external sensors at the moment. If you give me some time I’m sure I can…

Lahl (as Vedrin): I must say, this is not a proper place for us to be.

Nilsen: Kim…what’s happening?

Richards: Everything okay?

Promontory: Ensign?

Lahl: Get back in the worm where you ::ancient Trill cursing ensues:: belong!

The assembled officers stared at the small, but vocal, woman.

Lahl: I’m not having too much success at the moment with accessing the rest of the shuttle’s systems, but I’ll keep trying.

Nilsen: Are you good Lahl? What’s happening?

Promontory: Mr. Nilsen’s more than capable of taking over the shuttle link, if you’d like to take a break and rest a moment.

Lahl: I’m fine! I…I just need more time to access the systems.

Perhaps Avander shouldn’t have phrased that as an optional suggestion.

Nilsen: You’re not fine, there’s clearly something wrong, can we help at all?

Richards: ::cough::

Promontory: You know your own minds Ensign, but we’d like to help, if we can.

Lahl: Unless any of you are medically trained to deal with a Trill symbiont, we have more pressing fish to fry, okay? I'll be fine.

Avander was not so trained, and the point was well taken. If they didn’t get out of this situation, it might not matter if they had untreated injuries.

Nilsen: If you don’t mind me asking, who was it that came out? Who were they?

Richards: And what did those curious sounding words mean?

Promontory: You don’t have to share personal information if you don’t want to, Ensign.

The junior officer was under enough pressure at the moment.

Lahl: Response

Nilsen: A diplomat? I like the sound of him already. ::trying to keep the mood up:: reckon he can get my course done for me. I’ve been stuck on this essay for weeks…or centuries rather.

Avander tried to parse Lhandon’s words without success, until he remembered that the lieutenant was doing distance learning courses in diplomacy.

oO Can you imagine that! Oo The overgrown puppy would make an interesting diplomatic officer.

Nilsen: Hey Commander, reckon you can sign my extension request? the assignments only about 800 years overdue.

Richards: I’m pretty sure the due date was made abundantly clear.

Promontory: If we get out of this, lieutenant, I’ll personally write you a letter of recommendation.

Lahl: Response

Nilsen: Were you able to get access to any of the other systems?

Lahl: Response

Richards: That’s a good sign.

Nilsen: Sweet that’s something. I reckon we can use that to maybe chase the guard away? ::To Promontory:: Should we go and scout the shuttle? I’m good to go.

Anton went to join them, but seemed to be having a rough time of things.

Richards: I got this, I’m fine.

oO That seems to be a theme of the day. We’re an away team of martyrs. Oo

Lahl/Nilsen: Response

But the security officer was insistent.

Richards: No really, I’m fine.

Lahl/Nilsen: Response

Promontory: So, two of us scout the shuttle whilst the other two work on a deterrent? Perhaps electrifying the hull?

Richards: Maybe it’s best if we stick together.

Avander looked at the battered collection of crew, himself included.

Promontory: Fair enough, if we have access to the shuttle’s sensors, we can let that be our eyes and initiate counter-measures from here.

Lahl/Nilsen: Response

Promontory: (smiling) Do you have access to weapons systems?

Richards/Nilsen/Lahl: Response

Promontory: Oh, go ahead and be vigorous. We want those guards gone and not coming back!

Richards/Nilsen/Lahl: Response

Promontory: Very good. Execute.

The sounds of the shuttle whirring to full power were followed shortly by the screams of the guards.

Richards/Nilsen/Lahl: Response
