Popular Post Serala Posted August 18 Popular Post Posted August 18 I have been so impressed with the sims from @TAma representing President Antov Chekov during the Frontier Day Blockbuster and wanted to share them with the entire fleet. I don't know about anyone else, but I can literally hear Walter Koenig's voice as I read these. This is the first of several that I am going to post to showcase the great writing Melissa has done. Quote (( President’s Office, Sol Station, In Orbit of Earth )) (( Time Index: 2 hours ago )) Chekov: =/\= We have not been able to find a way to stop this Borg signal and unassimilate our young. But I know if my father were here, he’d remind us all that hope is never lost. There are always possibilities. Until then, I implore you: save yourselves = /\= Gallagher: Mr. President, we need to get you to an escape pod! Chekov: =/\= Farewell. =/\= Anton Chekov clicked off the recording for the message and tossed the PADD with the speech they’d hastily written onto the desk in disgust. He hated it. The whole situation made him sick - not just from the horror of it all, but by what he was being forced to do. Chekov: I am not going to run away in an escape pod, Sarah! Gallagher: Mr. President, now is not the time. You have to- She was interrupted by a loud bang and several screams from the antechamber outside his office. Kellner: ::yelling:: They’ve breached the antechamber doors! Ch'asherrak: We have to evacuate! Now! His two bodyguards - one tall, burly human man and an equally tall, burly Andorian chan with a buzzcut - quickly barred the door to his officer and strode across the room to hustle him out of his seat. Gallagher: Please, Mr. President! We have to go! Anton looked up and caught the look of fear in Sarah’s eye as flashes of phaser fire lanced out from Sol Station towards the Federation starships now attacking it. He hated it, turning tail and running, but the Borg were almost upon them and he didn’t think he could stomach seeing another aide murdered in front of his eyes. He stood as Ch’asherrak approached, intent, he was sure, on dragging him into an escape pod regardless. Chekov: ::grumbling:: Fine, fine. They bundled him out a secret back entrance of his office - one of those wall panels that lifted and slid away to reveal the escape tunnel for just such an occasion as this. It went straight to a private escape pod that they all but shoved him into and launched before he could even get strapped in. The tiny four person pod shot out from Sol Station and into the absolute bedlam of almost the entirety of the Federation’s armada fighting amongst itself. Anton watched out the pod’s small window at what little he could see of it as the escape pod’s autopilot worked overtime trying to avoid the numerous hazards in orbit. His lips pressed into a grim, thin line. Gallagher: ::hopefully:: At least we’re alive? Chekov: Yes, we’ll live. But I won’t enjoy it. Sarah’s mouth dropped open in shock, and the longest two hours of his entire life then passed in gloomy, moody silence. The bodyguards checked and rechecked all the equipment they had managed to bring with them, and his aide fidgeted with anxiety. Anton stared out the window, remembering the horrible black eyes and veins of the 21 year old intern who had turned to them and announced “WE ARE THE BORG.” She had then snatched a bottle of vodka off the bar cart, smashed it, and stabbed his aide Michael Ferguson in the neck. Kellner had then shot her in turn. He shuddered. That one was going to keep him up at night. He could really use some of that vodka right about now. The day had only gotten worse after that. The initial attack had been beaten back, and he had been removed to a more secure location. He was assured that made tactical sense. However communications were in chaos - everything was in chaos. Half their people had turned against them in a surprise attack. He had wanted to stay. A good leader would stay and rally people and lead by example. Show them that he wasn’t giving up and running away. Instead he’d compromised his values and delivered that absolute travesty of a speech. He’d told people to run and save themselves if they could. Don’t come help. Hell, they probably heard Sarah say that he needed to get to this god damned tin can of an escape pod. He dragged a hand down his face. Why the hell had he let that damn Vulcan strategist convince him that was the logical thing to do? He hated this. The escape pod rocked suddenly. They’d managed to avoid most of the stray shots, and only been rocked a little by nearby explosions, but this was different. Sustained. Gallagher: ::panicked:: What’s that?! Ch'asherrak: Feels like a tractor beam. Anton craned to see which ship had caught the pod. The ship slowly rotated into view of the window. The lettering on it said USS Chin’toka NCC-97187. Kellner leaned forward to peer out with him. Kellner: Looks like an Akira class. Chekov: Let’s hope they haven’t been taken over by the Borg. The escape pod floated gently into the shuttle bay and Anton stood, ready to face whatever awaited them on the other side of the door. Maybe he could make his father proud and salvage this day yet.
