I have to admit when I first skimmed this I thought Quentin wasn't going to like @Alyndra Syrex because she's so bubbly, but when I got around to writing my response I found he was pleasantly amused by her and is looking forward to working with her. Fantastic first meeting post

Alyndra paused to take a breath, feeling a sense of relief as she completed all the necessary formalities. With that, she was officially a crew member. Despite her qualifications, it still felt a bit surreal being here. As she looked around, she knew the next step was to introduce herself to her colleagues namely Ensign Quentin Beck, whom she would be working closely with. She found it less intimidating knowing that the current acting chief medical officer held the rank of ensign, identical to herself.

She knew that he liked coffee, so on the way to sickbay Alyndra had quickly dropped into the mess hall to get him one. Despite training at the academy on Earth, Alyndra preferred Trill beverages, so she had neither tried nor attempted to drink or replicate Coffee. The computer had many different patterns for coffee on file, so she chose one of her friend's favourite variations, a soymilk americano. Alyndra hoped that Beck would appreciate the gesture either way.

She stood outside the door of the sickbay, holding the coffee. Alyndra was sure that it had only been a minute, but it felt longer than that, perhaps it was the anxiety, perhaps it was the heat of the beverage. Exhaling her stress, she entered.

Alyndra entered the sick bay with immense excitement. Given the age of the ship, she wasn't sure if the medical facilities would be up to scratch. However, to her surprise, she found a well-equipped sickbay with everything she'd need to carry out her role effectively. As she explored the various connected rooms, she eventually arrived at an office she strongly suspected belonged to acting CMO Beck. She rang the bell, then entered. Inside, she saw a tall man with dark brown hair.

 

Syrex: Reporting for duty! :: Salutes with her free hand :: Ensign Syrex Reporting for duty. I’ve been told you’re the current acting Chief Medical Officer?

Beck: Response

Syrex: Well I am happy to be here and I am at your disposal!:: Looks at her hand::

oO Oh Shoot, I forgot about the coffee Oo

Syrex: Oh I almost forgot:: blushes slightly:: I brought you some coffee, we’ll be working closely together I’m sure, so I wanted to make a good first impression! I hope your attachment to this stuff isn’t as bad as Admiral Janeway's!

Beck: Response

Syrex: If you have time, would you mind showing me around the facilities here? I’d like to know where everything is in an emergency. Oh, I also need a physical, where can I arrange that?

oO I’m talking too much, shut up, he’s just a person like you Alyndra! Oo

Beck: Response

Syrex: Thank you Doctor, I hope you enjoy the coffee, it was replicated using the same pattern that one of my old academy friends used to enjoy :: Smiles ::. Oh! It has Soy Milk instead of Cow milk, I hope that you are not allergic, my friend had a vegan diet.
