@Karen Stendhal presents her alternative version, giving us a view on her past.

((OOC Everything is IC, The alternate Karen is coming across as a bit mean. :-) ))

((Shuttlebay, USS Eagle))

This alternate Karen, though she didn’t realize it, had one thing in common with the other Karen: an innate ability to create elaborate yet useless mental musings.

Karen was renamed Sten’Kara by her Bajoran foster parents after they took her from her biological family. She wasn’t sad about the change; under the Bajoran hegemony, her life had become much better and more comfortable.
Much better than starving to death in those concentration camps where Betazoids with weak telepathic abilities or other races, only good for becoming slaves, were crammed together.
As an adult, she reclaimed her birth name. Only her Bajoran family called her by a different name.

That group surprised her a bit, though. She had never worked with so many hybrids and enslaved races as she did now. There were also rumors of a resistance and other unthinkable things.

Unlike the other Karen from the other universe, who was sweet and soft, she had a lean and athletic build. Her telepathic abilities were much sharper, both due to the extensive training and conditioning she had received and perhaps because of a slight variation caused by this universe. She looked at Peri, partially Cardassian? What a sad life she must have had. She was probably beaten more as a child than the doormat at her house.

And then there was the other one, a weaky weak human… Probably taken from some of Luma'berry's farming or
nuts and bolts's factory  just because of her skills and talent as a healer.

The Luma’berry that small, luminescent and expensive fruit native to the lush valleys of Bajor.
Now she had a craving for the expensive Luma’berry juice. Arek Vonn, the Bajoran governor with whom she had been a lover for some time, never let her go without it.

Alt Harford:  So do we wait for them to enter, or…

Stendhal: I believe we should advance and flush them out one by one. It's far better than giving them time to regroup and attack us here as a large group.

Karen swung the weapon playfully, toying with a loose strand of hair.

Katsim: Quiet.

After Karen vaporized the poor crewman Peri did the same with another one.

Katsim: Let’s move. Stay quiet. Higher ranked prisoners are more useful.

Karen watched Doc nodding at Peri as if she were a fascinating thing. She half-expected her to pull out a notepad and start taking notes on her behavior.

Stendhal didn't reply this time, when you have to stay quiet you don't talk so much.

The emptiness of the corridors was unsettling, almost amplifying the noise of their steps in the silence that seemed to press in from all sides.

Stendhal: Why does this place look so desert. Do you think that they were expecting us? They may have spotted us with the ship sensors.

Katsim: I would have expected more crew members.

Karen observed her other teammates. There was also that silent Owa, another hybrid slave indeed. She felt uncomfortable around all those she considered just slaves, conveniently ignoring the fact that she was deffo not bajoran herself.

Katsim: Split up.  Harford, that way.  Stendhal, with me.  Get useful prisoners, come back here.  We leave in half an hour.

She gazed at Peri, who seemed proud of herself. Karen caught a glimpse of a thought or look about the raider. In the hangar, there was another sort of shuttle. Even if the raider wouldn’t work without her, she could try to use that one. It had a strange shape; instead of looking scary, it had a sleek, futuristic design that seemed more scientific.

Stendhal: Dividing our forces will weaken us. :: She protested, her voice laced with a hint of resignation, for they had already split up.::

Shadows danced on the walls as she waved Karen's weapon around, its metallic surface catching the faint light. Her eyes were sharp, scanning the place for any sign of movement. She fiddled again with a loose strand of hair, a nervous habit she couldn’t quite shake.

Stendhal: Did we happen to bring one of those devices to detect vital signs and potential hazards?
Great, now she was alone with that one. Indefinable, probably a hidden rebel. That Karen suspiciously suspected about everyone.

Katsim: ?

Stendhal: My sixth sense might not be enough if the enemy knows how to shield their thoughts.
Either way, I don't like you at all!

Katsim: ?

Just then, an unsuspecting one with a respectable pins collection  on his collar decided to join their little party.
Stendhal: Well, well, well, what do we have here?

She said, aiming her phaser.

Katsim: ?
