Popular Post Alieth
Do you know the best thing about pranking another writer's character? Having him follow it. That he incorporates it into his character's day-to-day life, even in a serious circumstance, and that he is capable of putting a light sim into the general narrative of the ship with elegance and humour. If on top of that the poor victim is our ill-treated captain... what more can I ask for? I think the gamma quadrant still has reserves of G1TT3RB0MB, skipper. I'm just warning you @Tony, aka Kells Quote (( Ready Room, Deck 1, USS Thor )) Aron considered the young officer who had joined him in his ready room at the mission's conclusion. She seemed a little nervous, but that was standard for a new officer. In fact, he'd have been more surprised if she hadn't seemed at least a little nervous. Kells: I like to know my officers, that's all. She met that with a deep breath and Aron steeled himself, almost unconsciously. What was he about to hear? Alexander: 6 minutes and 32 seconds sir. ::nodding toward the PADD:: What that PADD doesn’t tell you was I was dead for 6 minutes and 32 seconds. Of course It says something like “no lifesigns registered at the scene, but was revived on transport, with cortical stimulation, ionization of the my synaptic pathways and 30cc or thorzapan”, and of course that’s the medical explanation, but I like to think I came back because I wasn’t done. Kells: (tongue-tied) You -- you were-- He shut himself right up. The poor ensign didn't deserve to be gabbled at, especially after revealing something so deeply personal. Kells: (more certain; quietly) And that quest for meaning has brought you to Starfleet and service here? Alexander: ::Faltering:: a moment:: I don’t know sir, that’s what I’m here to find out. In the meanwhile, I intend to serve to the best of my ability the Thor and her crew. Kells: I have no doubt that you will, Ensign. You'll be serving alongside distinguished officers and crew on one of the finest of the fleet's ships. (beat) But not all of them have your reason for doing so. He hesitated, but only briefly. The PADD had, of course, told him the generalities, in the emotionless language of the official reports. He hadn't expected Alexander to volunteer the experience immediately, but given it was the rationale for her service, he also understood why she'd make that choice. Alexander: Response Kells: You have a guiding light, and I commend you for honoring that. (beat) Just remember that not every moment has to live up to that moment. Alexander: Response Aron attempted a light smile, though he suspected it came across more heavily than he meant. Kells: Feel free to drop by any time to let me know how you're doing. I think you'll find the crew friendly and open, and I want to include myself in that. But for now, I suspect you're eager to explore the ship, so please go ahead. Dismissed. But please come back whenever you need. Alexander: Response (( Time Jump: ...Much Later )) Once shore leave began, Aron's hope was that he wouldn't spend too much time in his ready room. Many officers were heading down to New (New) Bajor, to partake in the colonists' hospitality and gratitude following what had happened. And, of course, to celebrate the delivery of the goods the Thor had originally set out to bring to them. He'd be going down to New Bajor later, but first he had an unfortunate matter to attend to: Tidak Beru was held in their brig, but given that they were not immediately on their way back to the Alpha Quadrant, a ship had been dispatched to bring the once-governor back to Bajor. However, as he entered his office to establish a comms channel with the oncoming ship, he found it had undergone a violent redecorating. Crepe paper and streamers covered the space like a web, perhaps courtesy of several giant party spiders. Every surface was covered in glitter and he suspected that even the ship's self-cleaning systems weren't going to find every last particle. Kells: What. Despite himself, he cracked a grin. This was a prank, had to be, and he was going to space whoever had pulled it off, but it was funny. And it would have been funnier if his terminal hadn't opened in the next moment to an incoming comms call. No doubt the bridge had redirected it automatically -- and, hell, the prankster might have even been on the bridge. He tried frantically but mostly unsuccessfully to clear the glitter and streamers away from the section of the ready room that would be visible to whoever was on the other side before he opened the channel. Savinkova: USS Thor, this is Inspector Rosanna Savinkova, Federation Security Marshals Service, am I speaking to Fleet Captain Aron Kells? He tried his best to smile, though he was very aware that a streamer had just fallen onto his shoulder. Kells: You are, Inspector. Welcome to our little piece of the Gamma Quadrant. Savinkova: Captain, a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I have here a signed prisoner transfer order – for one Tidak Beru. We’re to take him into custody for transport to Bajor for trial. Aron's smile had become fixed, as the streamers continued to fall. Kells: Er, excuse the state of my office, Inspector. Yes, I received word that you were coming. We're holding the former governor in our brig and are ready to transfer at your convenience. Savinkova: I appreciate that Captain, with your permission myself and Deputy Marshal Jae’cyn would like to come aboard to take custody and perhaps speak with any of the arresting officers who are available. Kells: Of course. Please beam over and I'll introduce you. Savinkova: Response Kells: Very good. I'll look forward to meeting you in person momentarily. Savinkova: Response The channel closed and the terminal switched to black, which allowed Aron to see that glitter had accumulated on his head and shoulders. He looked like he had an awful case of sparkling dandruff. He almost slapped his comm badge. Kells: =/\= Garcia! =/\= Garcia: =/\= Response =/\= He took a short breath. No need to blame poor Garcia. Kells: =/\= Commander, can you get a cleaning crew to my office stat? (beat) They may need hand phasers set to wide dispersal mode. =/\= Garcia: =/\= Response =/\= Tags! and TBC! --- Fleet Captain Aron Kells Commanding Officer USS Thor V238208LV0 & SB118 Captains Council Magistrate (so ask me anything!) he/him/his (character & player) 4 1 Quote Link to comment
