  1. I have to say, as Discovery went on I began to just accept it for what it was. It did take a few episodes, but I got used to it. The Klingon thing still annoys me though. 🤣 As I said, loved that they explored Klingon culture more and the season finale was great, as you say Sotak. I also liked the fact that they weren't afraid to make big decisions and kill off big characters. The whole Lorca twist was fantastic! Very much looking forward to seeing Captain Pike! Does anyone know when season 2 is due to air?
  2. Haha! Good point, well made. I agree, season 2 is looking very exciting! Hope it lives up to my expectations.
  3. Thanks! Good to know I'm not alone thinking these things. I love the fact they've gone deeper into the Klingon culture by the way, it's just that the look of them is so different to the point where I have to actually remind myself that these guys are supposed to be the same race as Worf! Also, I totally get what you're saying about the "look" of the show. Technology being what it is these days, the show was always going to "look" smoother and (dare I say it) better than TOS, but as you say, they are doing things in it that seem like they should be taking place after TOS, not before it. I am enjoying the story as a whole, it's almost Game of Thrones-esque the way it keeps you guessing as to what's coming next, so will definitely stay with it. I'm not averse to change, but I would have preferred it to be a bit more familiar so as to make it more "believable" so to speak.
  4. Hey all! So I know I'm late to the party, but I've just started watching Discovery (about six episodes in - no spoilers please!) and was just wondering how people felt about it? I like the story and when I get lost in it, I find myself enjoying it, but then certain things snap me out of it. The main problems I have with it are: 1. The Klingons. I find myself subconsciously thinking of them as an entirely new/different species. 2. The direction doesn't feel very Star Trek-y, which would be fine on another show. But I find myself having to adjust to it, rather than being able to just slip into it. 3. Considering the story takes place 10 or so years before TOS, the technology on display seems to be too futuristic (which I know seems an odd thing to say for a Sci-Fi show). Maybe it's just me and I'm not saying I don't like it, I just don't really know how I feel about it yet, so was wondering what other people's opinions are.
  5. Welcome to the fleet guys! Congratulations! I hope Oddas and Parker behaved themselves!
  6. Does anyone think there's a chance Tarantino would adapt his style to make it more palatable to Trek fans?
  7. That video is great! Especially the voice over and the "you're out of your ******* mind, Spock" bit! 😂😂😂
  8. I'd be interested to hear from a Trek fan who thinks it's a good idea. The problem is, I'm not sure there are any! 😂
  9. I've got to say, I totally agree. I like a lot of Tarantino's films, but to me his style doesn't belong anywhere near a Star Trek movie.
  10. Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but what do you fine people think of Quentin Tarantino directing the next Trek movie?
  11. Sorry for the delayed response. Just seen this post. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Having great fun at the Embassy and had a great time in training! Here's hoping I'll be seeing you all around! Ensign Fairhug
