StarBase 118 Staff Posted January 29 Posted January 29 HERMES STATION – Changeling and Lattice Alliance Threat to the USS Constitution has been neutralizedThe situation aboard the USS Constitution NCC-9012-B remained dire. The changeling masquerading as Lt. Cmdr. Laria Herren made a final, desperate attempt to deceive the crew. Shifting into the form of a young boy, Rol’Q, she tried to mislead Lt. Lystra and her team. But when her disguise faltered, the changeling doubled down, transforming into Commodore Jalana Rajel in a last-ditch gambit. Instead of sowing confusion, the ploy only strengthened the team’s resolve. Led by Rol’Q’s aunt, Lt. Anath G’Renn, and Lt. JG Lystra they fought back fiercely. G’Renn herself fired the stunning shot that incapacitated the intruder. The changeling was secured in the brig, while the team headed to Sickbay for treatment. Meanwhile, the crew faced a new wave of pirate attacks. On the bridge, Lt. Commander Diz’mim Ch’Nilmani, Lieutenant JG Daniel Cain, and Lieutenant Terpes worked frantically to regain control of the ship. In Engineering, Lieutenant Rachel Flores and her team restored critical systems, enabling the Constitution to fire makeshift weapons and maintain its shields. Meanwhile, Lieutenant JG Chandni Kapoor devised a clever ploy, tagging hazardous waste containers for transport into space. The containers tricked the locked-in ship’s autopilot into evasive maneuvers, buying the crew valuable time.Above the fray, Lieutenant T’Aven launched the last operational Valkyrie fighter. Using its stealth systems, she sowed chaos among the pirate fleet, even tricking them into firing on each other. But the pirates quickly regrouped, forcing the crew to adapt. Cain and Kapoor collaborated on a bold countermeasure: deploying hydrogen-filled containers into the pirates’ path. On Cain’s signal, Ensign Ba’el detonated the containers, creating a massive explosion that disabled several pirate ships and drove the rest into retreat. At Hermes Outpost, the away team followed a trail of clues to locate the real Rajel and Herren. They found them trapped in an ODN junction, plasma burns marking a failed escape attempt. While part of the team escorted the injured officers to safety, the rest continued searching for other missing crew members (Lieutenant JG Eleanor Park and Lt. Cmdr. Lida) and successfully bringing them back on board as well.Still on the outpost, Rajel confronted Captain Va Remy, demanding answers. Va initially denied everything but eventually revealed herself as a changeling, shifting into Rajel’s form to confuse the team. Using the real Rajel as a shield, Va injured her with a shapeshifted blade. Acting quickly, the team shot both figures. After confirming Rajel’s identity, they transported her to Sickbay, where doctors treated her injuries but couldn’t save her eye, promising an artificial replacement. The changeling was secured in the brig. With the pirates defeated and changeling operatives captured, Hermes outpost is working on restoring their own facilities with the help of aiding personnel sent by Headquarters, and the USS Constitution-B returned to Drever IV for repairs and retrieval of equipment that had been left as the ship had to hurry for Outpost Hermes’ aid. The crew received word of Frontier Day’s resolution—the Borg threat had finally ended and a general green light was given to anyone who wished to visit home to check on loved ones. The rest of the crew was invited to Drever for their shore leave and is looking forward to the naming ceremony of one of the younger inhabitants, as they were personally invited.
