Tourist hot spots in a Borg ruled world

MA NO UMI — Still hiding at Nassau, the crew of the USS Gorkon (NCC-82293) seeks some distraction at different locations inside the asteroid.

After being rescued from a Borg cube, the Gorkon sought refuge at the docks of Nassau, a well hidden asteroid inside a treacherous area of space known as Ma no Umi. While the ship’s staff pondered about their next plan of action, the crew used the bit of downtime to come to terms with their changed timeline where the Borg rule.

“Even the people from Nassau take regular breaks from their harsh life,” said Will Weg, the Gorkon’s newest appointed FNS/Nassau reporter. “So now is the perfect opportunity to sum up some of those frequently visited places in Nassau.”

The Burning Hole District, with its everlasting fire pit, houses lots of merchants. They mainly sell salvaged ship parts which can be used for anything, ranging from repatching ships to spare parts for the still working vessels or those components lead a second life as part of the makeshift houses at Nassau.

Even though The Slims is currently mainly a place for paying respect to those who have been lost in the battle against the Borg, the area still holds a few bars and smaller places to eat. Several species have their own burial site, with their own traditions.

Thanks to the lower gravity of certain regions around Nassau, some species took advantage of this effect, like a surviving group of Elysians transformed a former mining cave into their own little enclave. They even managed to cultivate their own Solas Crystals. Rumour has it, each crystal sings their own song and emits a different sound depending on the person touching the crystal.

Even for the young ones, Nassau caters several options. One can play hide-and-seek in one of the many stripped and abandoned shipwrecks. Or they can opt to climb and slide down from the mountains of broken isolinear chips, under supervision, of course.

“Don’t let age stop you, even adults can have fun at those shipyards,” explains Will Weg. “Don’t wait too long, I’ve heard rumours that Admiral Reynolds plotted a plan to infiltrate a Borg installation. But how will she pull that off? The Borg will surround us, the second we leave Ma no Umi. But if she succeeds, you’ll hear about it next time!”
