+ Vitor S. Silveira
@Gila Sadar has given this fleet one of the best "one episode" species. Building up her character with so much attention and detail. Keeping all of her traits here we get a glimpse at how much Lieutenant Doctor @Gila Sadar has grown. And that she doesn't need to pull her teeth out to "give a bite" Quote (( Primary Sickbay - Deck 7, USS Artemis-A)) Adea: Ah, what can we do for you? Salkath: Apologies for our intrusion, Doctor. The three of us spent an extended amount of time just now in the sensor pod, and with the state of radiation in this sector of space, we thought it prudent to ensure we weren't overly irradiated. Bergman: response Considering that, just before Lt.Cdr. Salkath and the rest of the sensor pod team’s arrival, Gila and Commander had been given express orders to start inoculation procedures as quickly as possible, their appearance would have been quite fortuitous under normal circumstances. Today, however, were not normal circumstances, and the Vulcan’s observation in regards to their presence being an intrusion into the business of Sickbay’s preparations was not entirely misplaced. Regardless, the three of them had sought them out in the capacity of potential patients, and as such, they required their aid. Sadar: Of course. Hold on just a moment. ::picks up a hypospray:: Excuse me, Commander. It was the age-old adage of ‘save yourself first, before you save others’. It was a logic that Gila had had to struggle to internalize - it felt natural to focus on those who were not intrinsically capable of doing their own treatment first - but it was also an infallible reasoning that, should the Doctor become incapacitated while treating patients, they would be unable to treat any patients arriving after the fact. Working from that logic, Gila and Commander Adea exchanged doses of radiation medicine, before getting to their patients. Adea/Bergman: response Gila fetched the required hyposprays, and when decided on who to call on first, she noted Lt.Cdr. Salkath doing a subtle motion of his head. Was his neck cramping up? No, unlikely. Instead, it was far more likely that he was acting on the initial indication he’d made when first entering Sickbay: that the gold-shirted Ensign walking with them was of particular priority. Sadar: Ensign Bergman, if you please? Bergmen: response Upon receiving permission, Gila walked to the humanoid Ensign - a Gideon, if she recalled his files correctly - and administered the required medication. Adea: response Salkath: I will take treatment next, Doctor. That would be... easiest. Gnai: Are you done preparing to treat the crew…? Gila looked up from the display of her tricorder, verifying that the Hyronalyn medication had made its rounds through the Ensign’s system and was bestowing its shielding effects on him, when she heard the mechanical voice of Lieutenant Gnai’s new suit pose a query. Sadar: Just about. Commander Jovenan’s asked about the possibilities of disguising the away team as the native population, but disguising a group of five to six people as reptilian humanoids is... Complicated, given our current resource situation. The Lieutenant shimmered with light in response to her, and she smiled slightly at the comment it made in response to her. Gnai: Well, this certainly won’t be going down on any away teams. Well, usually, that’s what Gila thought too, and yet somehow, she always ended up on the most nonsensical teams. Salkath: Such a need would only present itself if we have to interject ourselves in their society for some reason. To retrieve crew of the freighter or salvaged technology from the wreck. That isn't a risk yet, is it? oO I hope not! Oo As far as Gila knew - from knowledge imparted entirely through theory and history books - interacting with pre-warp civilizations rarely ever turned out positive. Adea/Bergman: response Finally, both she and Commander Adea were satisfied that their initial patients responded well to the treatment, which prompted Lieutenant Gnai to attempt a rather familiar form of exfiltration from an unwanted situation. Gnai: Is that all? ::gesturing to Salkath and Bergmen:: This didn’t likely get as high a dose, so… Salkath: Agreed. We do not wish to interrupt your efforts more than absolutely necessary. Gila shook her head. Sadar: Our directive from the Bridge was to inoculate the entirety of the crew. ::looks to Gnai:: That includes you, Lieutenant. Adea/Bergmen: response Gnai: ::holding up its suit’s arms:: This isn’t sure how this is going to work… ::turning to Salkath:: This suit wasn’t designed with methods for dispersing medication… was it? It wasn’t… oO WHAT!? Oo Gila stared at the Vulcan Engineer in confusion, refusing to believe that such an entirely logical and necessary part of maintenance had been overlooked, and yet the Vulcan’s expression - while still decidedly Vulcan - was just stiff enough that Gila realized Lieutenant Gnai’s query was a valid one. Did they not realize that LIEUTENANT GNAI was an organical entity!? It wasn’t like you could throw a hypospanner at it and expect that to fix bell rot, membrane inversion or any of the other organical maladies that could affect a cnidarian such as the Lieutenant. Gila had to resist the urge to cross her arms to show her dismay with these new suit specifications. Salkath: I had mentioned this suit would be a work in progress. This is one of those oversights I was alluding to. oO Rather a significant oversight there, Lt. Commander! Oo Sadar: ::to Adea:: If I may, Commander? ::to Gnai:: I have experience treating cnidarians. Considering the significant ambient radiation in this area of space, I think it’s worth giving it a shot. I-If you trust me, of course. She wasn’t interested in telling anyone why she knew quite a lot about typical cnidarian ailments or the most effective ways of administering treatment to cnidarians without affecting taste and texture, but all that really mattered was that she knew how to administer the medication... Right? Adea/Bergmen: response Salkath: If you require privacy, then that is certainly understandable. Gnai, ensure you discuss methods of administering treatments through your suit with the doctor so we can implement them at our earliest convenience. Gnai: response oO Well, that sounds perfectly logical, now doesn’t it? Oo Gila guided Gnai towards one of the wall consoles, bringing along a hypo filled with the anti-radiation treatment. As she did so, she heard Lt. Commander Salkath offer his services to Sickbay, in the interest of lightening their load. Salkath: You have your hands full with replicating medications. Ensign Bergmen and I can certainly assist. If you have the associated file handy, we can utilize the industrial or cargo replicators to join in. Adea/Bergmen: response ((OOC: Feel free to continue your chat here.)) Meanwhile, Gila turned her attention to Gnai. Sadar: Now, perhaps it’s best if you tell me how you’ve handled medical care at the Academy first? Gnai: Response Sadar: ... Yes, that does make sense. My experience says that solidifying medical agents into a gelatinous agent onto the top of a water basin is the best way to administer artificial medicines. By repeatedly submerging and raising you through the gelatinous film on top of the water, the medicine is absorbed into your natural collage. It won’t be as effective as the intravenous application of most humanoids, but it will have an effect, especially in terms of protecting your protein balance and temperature from the ambient radiation. Gnai: Response Happy to proceed with the plan, Gila started preparing the coagulating agent, when she heard an unmistakable voice, even this far across the Sickbay. MacKenzie: =/\= MacKenzie to Adea. =/\= Gila looked over towards the Commander, her tympani acutely aware that the Captain calling down at this junction had to mean that something was afoot. Adea: =/\= Response =/\= MacKenzie: =/\= Doctor, I need you and Doctor Sadar to prepare to beam down to the planet. You’re to locate the crew of the freighter and either render medical assistance or engage in recovery efforts. Commander Jovenan will assist you. Ensign Kel will also provide an extra set of hands. =/\= She sent a look at the Commander, indicating that she’d overheard the message. Adea: Response? Sadar: Into the thick of it, then. Adea: =/\= Response =/\= MacKenzie: =/\= Please prepare to inoculate the members of the senior staff before we beam down. =/\= While it could just be her imagination, Gila thought she could hear the collective stress level of the Pharmacological team next door rise by several magnitudes. Adea: =/\= Response =/\= Adea / Salkath / Bergmen / Gnai: Response Sadar: Fortuitous that you decided to get ahead of the turn. They were about to get very busy indeed. MacKenzie: =/\= MacKenzie to Salkath and Gnai. =/\= Gila startled slightly when the Captain’s voice this time was a great deal louder, sounding from the combadge attached to Lieutenant Gnai’s exosuit right in front of her. Salkath/Gnai: =/\= Responses =/\= MacKenzie: =/\= You’ll be joining Ensign Lyara and me on the surface – we’ve got to figure out how to either repair the freighter and get it spaceworthy again, or try to recover as much of it as we can. =/\= Salkath/Gnai: =/\= Responses =/\= Well... That meant quite a few more than five people going planetside. Gila sighed as she prepared the medication for Lieutenant Gnai, when the Sickbay doors started unceremoniously opening and depositing patient after patient starting to report for those anti-radiation inoculations. Gila looked at the already-inoculated senior staff members, her usually lavender blue hue paled to a greyer nuance. Sadar: I think I speak on behalf of all of Sickbay when I say: please help.
