Lt JG Arthur Strathmore - Huh? What Was That?

Recommended Posts

We are not all heroes, sometimes we do mistakes or be in our best shape. @ArthurStrathmore simmed a very realistic situation. I just don't understand if he is really at the Engineering console or not, but if it is the case, he is a genius. :D

((OOC: Apologies for lack of narration. I am trying to catch up. Also, Arthur is concussed very badly. He’s not an idiot. Most of the time…))

((Bridge, Deck 1, USS Eagle))

Arthur felt like he was swimming through soup; the chunky kind. Or is that a stew? Arthur was having trouble thinking, existing, comprehending. Voices came and went like murmurs. Sounds that had little meaning. Fog fell over. Arthur saw lights, faces, but didn’t recognize them. Until he did, suddenly. Time was so slow before and now it was getting faster and faster. The speech that was incomprehensible could not be heard and he understood.

Falt: Lieutenant Strathmore, I’m going to need you to step in at tactical. You up to that?

He had to go. He had focus.

Strathmore: Tactical?

Arthur asked with a confused face. He felt like he had woken up from a deep sleep. He grasped his head.

DeVeau: Giving us insight in the minds of those we’re dealing with will be extremely useful.

Tomas gave the young Lieutenant a smile of encouragement.

Arthur nodded. He moved forward.

Falt: Just do your best, Lieutenant. That’s all I ask.

Time went wonky again. He didn’t remember walking to a console but here he was. Was it tactical? It glowed and blinked like a tactical station would. It even had the words “Engineering” on the top just like tactical would.

Strathmore: Tactical?

DeVeau: They're definitely not standing down.

Falt: No, but they’re not attacking either, which might just give us an opportunity.

oO We’re not safe though. I thinking. I’m thinking. It’s hard. Oo

Strathmore: We’re not safe.

Arthur mumbled as he spoke. It was hard to project. He felt so tired.

DeVeau: Arthur, any thoughts on how to negotiate?

oO Negotiation. I know about that. Oo

Strathmore: Confidence is always important. Remember to believe in yourself.

oO I am helping. Oo

Tomas quietly listened to the Lieutenant’s assessment.

DeVeau: Arthur, can you direct all the power from non-essential systems into the deflectors.  If I can gather enough energy, I can emit a powerful electromagnetic pulse at the ship and short out their systems.  It won’t last very long, but it might buy us some time.

oO Buttons. Oo

Arthur pressed some. Memories of the academy came back. Simulations he ran over and over. It was muscle memory at this point.

DeVeau twisted to look directly at Tomas before continuing.

DeVeau: We’ll need them to lower their shields.  Tom…can you tell them we’re lowering ours and surrendering? If they want to board, they’re going to have to do the same.

oO That won’t need buttons. Oo

Falt: To what end? At the moment they clearly don’t see us as a threat, but I guarantee that will change if we hit them with an electromagnetic pulse. How long would such an attack affect them? Would we have enough time to jump to warp before they recovered and simply destroyed us?

DeVeau: I’m planning on a hefty one.  It won’t be deadly, but should knock out their systems for several hours.

Strathmore: Confidence.

Falt: Okay. Stand-by to execute that plan. We’ll attempt it if we have to, but let’s try talking first. If we don’t talk to them soon I’m sure they will fire again anyway… I don’t think the Oddas in this universe is as patient as ours.

DeVeau: I don’t think so either.

Strathmore: Talking is important.

Tomas took a quick breath as the channel opened.

Falt: =/\= BDS Kai Ircash, this the Eagle. Hold your fire and retreat to a safe distance. We have sustained damage and are now experiencing a significant radiation leak. =/\=

Oddas.U: =/\= Eagle, I do not believe you.  You are required to stand down now.  If you do not, the consequences will be dire. =/\=

Strathmore: My head hurts.

DeVeau: Response

Tomas knew he had to double-down on his bluff if it was to have any chance of success. The problem was he was also painfully aware of just how bad he was at poker.

Falt =/\= I repeat, we are now experiencing a significant radiation leak. For the welfare of your officers do not attempt to board. =/\=

DeVeau: Can you make it look like that?

Falt: Hopefully that is exactly what Kettick and Zevash are doing right now.

Strathmore: Kettick and Zevash are engineers.

Oddas.U: =/\= I'll take my chances, you have 3 minutes. =/\=

DeVeau: I suppose that’s one way to respond.

Tomas nodded in agreement.

Falt: =/\= I would not presume to tell you what to do with your own crew, but I must impress upon you that the leak has the potential to be very dangerous. I currently have engineers keeping it contained, but if they fail many decks will be flooded with lethal radiation. =/\=

Strathmore clutched his head again.

Strathmore: I’m gonna throw up.

Arthur’s voice was a mumbling mess.

Oddas.U: =/\= 2 Minutes. =/\=

DeVeau: Standing by, just in case.

Tomas gave the Commander a nod of acknowledgement.

Arthur dry heaved.

Strathmore: Engineering!

Whether it was something he thought of randomly or something he read off the console, Arthur couldn’t say. He was too busy gagging.

Oddas.U / Any: =/\= Response =/\=

Falt: =/\= At the moment your demands are secondary to making sure this ship doesn’t explode. My crew need five minutes to get the situation under control. I will contact you once the situation has stabilised.  Eagle Out =/\=

DeVeau: Response.

Strathmore: Lights.

The screen had lights indeed.

He flopped back into his chair with a bump.

Falt: That conversation wasn’t going anywhere. Besides…

He was interrupted by a sudden, and unexpected, intruder alert. He pulled up the details on his monitor. Sensor data was still garbled, but the visuals from the shuttle bay showed a foreign shuttle had docked.

Falt: How did that get past the point defense cannon’s and through the shields?

Arthur leaned against the console. Things were pressed. He didn’t know what.

Strathmore: They’re smart. But they’re in our place.

DeVeau: Response.

Tomas grimaced. If that was the case they had more to worry about than he’d realised.

Falt: If this data is reliable it seems they’ve only sent four boarders? They are either very sure of themselves or not used to encountering resistance. At least they shouldn’t give Kettick and Kendrick too much trouble.

Strathmore: Kettick and Zevash are engineers.

DeVeau: Response.

Falt. Is there anything we can do from here? Space the shuttle bay perhaps? ::blip:: regardless, it seems only fair we respond in kind. I think it’s time we implement your plan Commander. Since we’ve already been boarded does anyone have any other ideas to get them to lower their shields now?

oO Thoughts. Oo

Strathmore: Think like them, but don’t do like them.

DeVeau: Response.

Arther was getting very sleepy.

Hetz/DeVeau/Falt: Response

Arthur began to drool. He was leaning a lot on the console now, pressing goodness knows what.

Hetz/DeVeau/Falt: Response

Strathmore: Medicine.

oO Yummy. Oo

Hetz/DeVeau/Falt: Response

DeVeau tapped her combadge and called up the Nurse

DeVeau: =/\= Response =/\=

TAG / TBC
