Okay all, here's a tough one...

I read an article yesterday in the Salt Lake Tribune by one Orson Scott Card. You may have heard of some of his books, like Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Homebody, Lost Boys, Enchantment and some others.

I actually have to admit that I liked his stuff.

But this is taking it too far!

http://sltrib.com/search/ci_2721528 links to his article in the SL Trib, celebrating (that's right, celebrating) the death of Star Trek.

For some odd reason, this makes me a little mad.

Is this the end? Do any of the rest of you know Mr. Card and think he's wrong? Do some of you think he's right? What's to be done? Can we, the fans, resurrect Trek again?

Speak out!

And someone send a Nausican out to Mr. Card's place, would they?

I don't think this will be the end. The Star Trek franchise brings in too much money for Paramont and Viacom.

Card is jealous of the success ST has had, something that he will never have.

Who ever heard of him before this? Not me!

To heck with him. Star Trek isn't dead. It needs a vacation. That's all.

Much like me.

Well, we will be watching the last episode of ST. Sadly enough. Course, we still have the reruns and DVDs.

I've actually met him and he is a pompous jerk.

I agree with T'Lara. It just needs time off. The fan base is too large to let it just die.

It can happen. But I also think Paramount needs to back off. The fans have been smothered in bad Trek for years. They need to get rid of Piller and get someone in there who has a real revernce for the Roddenberry vision of Star Trek and what it stands for. Not someone who could have been the inspiration for the Ferengi! :)

Well, I at least can say that the Salt Lake Tribune isn't all bad...

This week we have a rebuttal to Mr. Card's article.
