Popular Post Dekas Posted September 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2022 @Kettick, The vibes on this one are absolutely immaculate. In the most flattering way possible, this oozes questionable Ferengi energy in exactly the way it should and I'm about it. I don't know what it is, and maybe it's that it's like 6am where I am so I'm slightly tired, but this is really good writing and I needed a moment to calm down because I'm stoked. Quote (( Ferengi Outpost "Staffordshire Hoard" - Aturn VII )) Rule of Acquisition number seven: Keep your ears open. Rule of Acquisition number twenty-two: A wise man can hear profit in the wind. Rules to live by. Of course, all Rules of Acquisition were, but these three had served DaiMon Kaybay especially well in the past few years. From owner of a near-useless planet to head of several very successful mining ventures and landlord of a Free Jem'Hadar outpost, that was not the kind of trajectory many, if any Ferengi could boast of (and let it be known that Jem'Hadar were surprisingly unproblematic tenants). All because he had kept his ears to the ground, and jumped on the right opportunity as it presented itself. Rule of Acquisition number nine: Opportunity plus Instinct equal Profit. As such, he had invested a significant share of his now not-inconsequential fortune into developing a network of informants, and added information brokering to his growing portfolio of profitable activities. And right now, he had his eyes on a very interesting nugget. Thrice interesting, in fact. One, the Federation had set up an outpost on Ring 42. A marvel of engineering in itself, that hinted at the quality (and price!) of the alien technology one could salvage from it. Two, if some of the names the civilian freighter captain who reported to him were anything to go by, the outpost was starting to develop a budding underworld, and he wanted a slice of that pie as well. And three, the outpost - Denali outpost, named after a mountain on Earth, for whatever reason - was led by no other than his old business friend captain Oddas Aria. Fleet Captain Oddas Aria, now, even, everyone moved up in their world, it seemed. And in his book, specifically the accounting one, the former crew of the Juneau still owed him one favour after that Jem'Hadar lark. The DaiMon pushed a button on the latinum-colored surface of his desk. "Prepare the Gold Feather. I will need to scout an opportunity for investment in person." And of course, if all else failed, there always was good old Rule of Acquisition number fifty-two. Never ask what you can take. -- DaiMon KayBay Owner of Aturn VII Commanding officer, FMS Gold Feather As simmed by Ensign Kettick Engineering Officer Denali Station G239107LR0 4 1 Quote
