StarBase 118 Staff
THE BORDERLANDS — The Q, appropriately named “CloQ,” had a penchant for time manipulation and repeatedly forced the crew of the USS Resolution (NCC-78145) to replay the same five minutes in which they had to witness the ship’s demise. The crew of the Nova-class vessel found itself cut off from the time-space continuum and under fire from a Klingon D7 battlecruiser that was over 100 years old. Believing they were still at war with the Federation, the Klingon crew opened fire on the Resolution, causing a warp core rupture. With just five minutes to repair the breach, they destroyed the Resolution after the crew found themselves unable to eject the core or fix the breach… until they weren’t. Instead, they were sent back in time to the instant the core breach began, but this time they remembered everything that had transpired before – including their deaths. Meidra Sirin, the Resolution’s half-El-Aurian counsellor, was able to telepathically reveal that a Q was behind their dilemma after numerous repeats. They might confront the creature, who appeared to relish replaying the destruction of the Starfleet crew. “At first I was afraid, I was petrified. Disaster after disaster kept repeating itself. Then we learned it was a Q… now I’m just angry.” Lieutenant JG Aine Sherlock, a security officer, properly summarized the crew’s emotions. The Klingon and Starfleet crews used anti-graviton beams to create a split in Q’s reality, allowing both ships to return to the present. They have placed the Klingon crew in touch with the liaison in Deep Space 224, who will assist them in adjusting to the present timeframe. Chof Nusin, a nurse on the Resolution, experienced a pulmonary haemorrhage at the start of the adventure and died just before the ships left the Q universe. Condolences are extended to their family.
