USS Resolution dispatched to locate missing science vessel Hanno in Briar Patch

BRIAR PATCH — The Hanno, an Oberth class ship, transmitted a distress call indicating a crash was imminent and launched an emergency distress beacon, which successfully transmitted a signal to Deep Space 224.

Starfleet Command immediately mobilized the USS Resolution (NCC-78145) to locate the science vessel in distress.

Initial long-range scans of the Briar Patch revealed no signs of the Hanno, though the Resolution’s helmsman believed it possible to predict the ship’s location based on the trajectory of the beacon.

The Hanno’s mission in the Briar Patch is unknown, though because of the ship it was presumably scientific. The crew complement of the vessel in its last report was 82.

Many of the Resolution’s senior staff have concerns about prolonged exposure to the volatile nature of that area of space, both for their own crew and the potentially stranded crew of the Hanno.

“The Briar Patch is infamous for its unpredictable effects on physiology,” said Genkos Adea, the Resolution’s Chief Medical Officer. “And I hope that wherever the crew of the Hanno are, they continue to age normally and have the correct number of limbs for their species.”

Out of an abundance of caution, the Resolution’s medical staff inoculated the crew with Hyronalyn as a preventative measure against radiation poisoning and recommended evacuating nonessential areas of the ship. Engineering teams made appropriate modifications to the ship’s power supply to ensure that shields remained reinforced.

Before departing Deep Space 224, the Resolution also welcomed aboard Romulan Senator Vreeya. The senator appears to have a friendship with Resolution CO Fleet Captain Kalianna Nicholotti, though it is currently unknown what interest the Romulan government may have in this mission.
