StarBase 118 Staff Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 AZURE NEBULA, ZETA IOMIS IV — After the Followers of Molor’s primary ship and base succumbed to a fiery blaze of glory, the crew quickly realised someone had escaped, but they were unable to pursue. The followers of Molor, the radical cult of Klingon’s determined to overthrow the Empire, have been driven to the extreme. Following discussions between Captain Sal Taybrim and the one believed to be the leader of the cult, unrest was evident. The man who called himself K’Nubis made a glorified decision to drive his ship at ramming speeds into the USS Narendra (NCC-26595). All braced for impact as communication ceased between the two ships. At the very last minute, and for reasons unknown, the cultist’s ship changed course and dealt only a heavy glancing blow. Speculated suggests that someone decided they wanted to live among the cultists, however, that didn’t stop them from activating the self destruct sequence shortly after. Captain Taybrim ordered an immediate emergency transport of those from the cultist’s ship. Countless lives were saved. LtCmdrs Taelon and Ishani Kasun found themselves in league with a young cultist, in order to get their hands on the Death Fog. A young Klingon, whom, in a split second, decided to make a life-altering choice. He abandoned his cause to help the Starfleet officers. Remaining at arm’s length and under armed guard, the team made their way further into the cultist’s base. The goal was to rid the universe of the toxin to ensure it wouldn’t be used to hurt innocent lives. They decided a well-placed series of explosives would render the toxin and the base unusable. Without their foothold into Klingon territory, it would be harder to push the cultist’s cause – at least for the time being. In a mad dash to return to safety, the team transported just in the nick of time back to the Narendra. LtCmdr Nijil and his team were constantly faced with foot soldiers, who at every turn worked to stop them before reaching the computer core. The team learned of a new weapon development by a mad scientist and saw just how disastrous it was to Terran flesh. Lt. Maxwell was injured in the line of duty, taking a direct hit from this new weapon, comparable to a fireball, leaving in its wake all severities of burns. They managed to download every scrap of intel they could before Cmdr. Killoy rescued them in the shuttle, minutes before the base went up in flames. The Narendra’s sensors picked up a fleeing shuttle on their sensors, yet after the blow dealt from the attempted ramming of the ships, they were unable to chase. The unease of who managed to escape left everyone on edge. “We did good work out there,” explained Petty Officer Ton Ladin. “But, the work never seems to be done.” Once back on the station, the crew found themselves with a moment to breathe. Taybrim ordered all to shore leave, with a prescription for some much-needed rest and relaxation. Cmdr. Killoy found herself struggling with the weight and burden of the Executive Officer post of Starbase 118. In light of this, Taybrim offered her an alternative, which suddenly left him without an Executive Officer – but, rumour suggests he has a new candidate waiting in the wings.
