they might not wear them in the out back where you are..but a duster is a long coat, usually floorlength, with a split up the middle up to about the waistline. This is cut that way so you can have the coat drape over each side of your horse with out the rider sitting on the coat...also makes for very easy movement and they are warn in the winter, not too bad in summer and pretty much waterproof.
