  5. ***MORE SPOILERS**

    Tucker and T'Pol - the first pairing I've actually agreed with, and enjoyed...and they couldn't even get that right. They couldn't stay together? What was the problem there? So it was touching, but wouldn't it have been sadder if they had stayed together? Even had a family?

    I thought the ENT/TNG mix was a little cheesey, but I liked the fact that they fit it into the background of an already aired episode (even if it was obvious that Riker and Troi were older here). Whoever thought of that had a good idea.

    As for how I feel about the end...don't know. I just hope that when/if Trek ever makes it back to TV, that they don't start it off by contradicting established history like ENT did.

  8. Okay, this is a general question for everyone out there: Who has what episodes of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and any/all of the movies on DVD? The reason I'm asking is quite simple - picture resources.

    We have a huge number of people in this organization who want information on a topic where a picture could help. Or they want to modify a uniform for their own picture. Or they're working on a website and need a specific picture. The internet is great, but limited. You're looking for something in particular, and get the same picture that doesn't quite work from 48 different sites.

    I'm wondering if it would be possible for people with the episodes and movies on DVD, and who have DVD-ROM drives on their computers, to act as a sort of resource for those of us who might have need of a picture. Anyone willing to be "on call"? Kind of like a library, we can keep a record of who has what, so we know who to ask for something.

    Any volunteers?

  9. Okay, after those last two posts, anything I have to say is going to sound boring and unintelligent. But I'll say stuff anyway. :P

    First, I agree with Wolf. As I read OSC's Opinion I couldn't help feeling that he totally missed what Trek was/is about. After every sentence I had a "well, what about this" comeback ready. I might not go so far as to say that Roddenberry was a genius (which some people believe), but he had a vision. And it's a heck of a lot better vision of the future than things like the Matrix, or the Terminator have. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like to live in a world where there's no suffering, no discrimination, no rich and poor, no persecution, and no good reason for mindless agression and violence. Warp drive, transporters, holodecks and the rest would just be icing on the cake. It's the changes in society and humanity that I'm interested in.

    Now, a little back on topic (not that everything else was off topic) - Is it just me or did anyone else VASTLY PREFER the theme from the "In the Mirror Darkly" episodes over the soft rock ballady garbage that they've played for 4 years?

  10. TNG: "Darmok" and that one where Picard is taken to live a lifetime on another planet.

    The other episode was called "Inner Light", it was also one of my favourites, and it won an award (Golden Globe, I think).

  20. Back to the original idea of this thread... :P

    CO = Captain Styles (Excelsior, STIII)

    XO = Commander Benjamin Sisko

    2O/Deck Off. = Commander Chakotay

    COO = LtCmdr Data

    CEO = LtCmdr Montgomery Scott

    CTO = LtCmdr Worf

    CMO = Dr. Julian Bashir

    CSO = Lt Jadzia Dax

    SC = Lt Tuvok

    CHO = Lt(jg) Tom Paris

    Counselor = none (due to the fact that Deanna Troi and Ezri Dax were the only two we ever had, and I can't stand Deanna, and I would have chosen Erzi, but I already have the Dax symbiont present with Jadzia - can't have it twice, right?)

  22. Hell Year - Voy

    You mean "Year of Hell," also a 2-parter.

    My favourites are:

    the Trouble with Tribbles - TOS

    Trials and Tribble-ations - DS9

    - because the first was quite entertaining, and the second was fabulous at splicing the two together, and funny in it's own right.

    QPid - TNG

    - because Q is my favourite, and I love the lore of Robin Hood

    ("I am NOT a merry man!" - Worf)

    Lower Decks - TNG

    - because you never get to see everything else that goes on onboard a starship.

    Relics - TNG

    - because bringing back Scotty was a great idea, and the concept of the Dyson Sphere

    -and most of the Voyager episodes

  23. Okay, you've got Cpt. Spock, and Cpt. Riker, two guys who we haven't really seen in any kind of captaining capacity. So then why didn't you have Captain Sulu? We've seen him "captain" more than Riker! Or how about Captain Montgomery Scott? Or Cpt. Geordi LaForge? Or my personal favourite, Captain Styles of the Excelsior during the transwarp testing. Cpt. Clark Terrell, Cpt Matt Dekker, his son Cpt. Wil Dekker, shall I go on?

    More importantly, please define "best". Best tactician? Best Diplomat? Best explorer (quantity or quality)? Best at protecting/utilizing/respecting his/her crew? Best in multiple of these categories, or others I haven't mentioned?

    :blink:

    Seriously, I just like being a pain in the...you know where. :D

  24. I have Starship Creator, and Admiral...you're not the only one who thought it was bad.

    I also have:

    ST: Judgement Rites (TOS) - lost interest (older game)

    ST: Starfleet Command - didn't really like the controls

    ST: Starfleet Academy - wasn't bad, could've been better

    ST: Armada (I and II) - haven't played yet

    ST: Elite Force - awesome game

  25. Alternately, you could ask any engineer you come across ('cos most of us have all the books you could think of) :P

    If you'd like, you can email me with any questions you have about whatever, and if I don't know I can consult our wonderful SCE-SB118 group right here in UFoP land!
