Guidelines: To participate, create a new thread. The subject of the thread must be the title of your story. If it is a Work In Progress, denote that with the heart post icon. If your work is complete, use the horizontal arrow post icon. Items not marked with an icon or marked with the WiP icon will not be considered for judging and will be moved to the "Character Cafe" forum at the end of the contest.

Your work must be entirely your own. No co-authoring.

You are welcome to create any character you so desire, but they must be from the Star Trek universe. No "canon" characters allowed. (i.e.- No one who has been on a show.)

Challenge: "What if some race other than the Vulcan's discovered the first Human warp flight?" - As with the challenge in the same timeframe last year, we ask a "what if?" question. Don't forget -- this is about challenging yourself in your writing! Postulate what things would be like if it wasn't the benevolent and kind Vulcans who first make contact with Earth. But if not them, then who? (Topic chosen by last winner, Ben Walker.)

Length: No more than 3000 words accepted.

Beginning Date: Thurs., Nov. 16th

Ending Date: Sun., Dec. 24nd

Good Luck!

Being that the judges probably won't be doing any actual judging until at least Tuesday, due to the holiday, anyone who's sitting around bored on Monday is welcome to submit a sim. I'll accept submissions until Monday evening at 11:59pm, EST.

Happy holiday! Can't wait to see what we come up with!

Congratulations to Nemitor Atimen for his story, "En Route".

Runner-up was Julia Harden, with her story, "The Last Contact".

Thanks to the three who participated. This was a very lean response, but I would bet that was probably due to the holidays. Let's aim for a bigger response in the next round!

The winner and runner-up can find their banners on this challenge's page on the website within the next 48 hours.

Our next challenge will be unveiled in a few days.
