Gnai
Oh. My. God. @Salkath LITERALLY just posted this but I was dying of laughter so I decided EVERYONE needed to see this as fast as possible. He writes such a good Vulcan, and such a funny one. Watch as he meets the designated Good Boy of Artemis, and tries to keep up his Vulcan Decorum in the face of just the cutest little doggo. Quote ((MacKenzie Family Residence – Cambridge, Massachusetts Earth)) Salkath: And who is this? A Terran... canine, yes? I didn't think that Betazoids subjugated lesser creatures as familiars? Not that the concept of pet ownership was foreign to Salkath; though rare, there were such arrangements on Vulcan, and species like humans still widely practiced such symbiotic relationships. Adea: This is Toto. I rescued him from an accident a few years ago, and he’s sort of just stayed by my side. The engineer considered the explanation and nodded sanguinely. It could hardly be worse than caring for toddlers, regardless of one's species. He extended his hand in a Vulcan salute down to the floofer. Salkath: It is amenable to make your acquaintance, Toto. What happened next could only be described as a travesty; a mauling; the ultimate betrayal of personal space and decorum. A smaller or less strong humanoid would surely have buckled under the furry missile's onslaught, as it was, Salkath barely budged while the dog tried to communicate its manic message directly into the Vulcan's visage. Salkath merely responded with a curled upper lip and raised eyebrow. Adea: Toto, heel! ::Toto came back down and barked happily:: I am so sorry! Salkath: Certainly it is my fault. I was much too effusive with my greeting to Toto. I inadvertently invited its affections, I'm sure. These emotional shortcomings of his lately. My, he needed rest and meditation. 'Amenable', indeed! He practically begged the dog to shower him with affection! Genkos made a show of inspecting Salkath's robes, but there was no untoward soiling to be seen. Fur from the hirsute creature, however? That would take AGES to get out of the fibers of his clothes. Adea: Doesn’t look like he’s left any pawprints, you’re okay. I must apologise again. Salkath: I assure you, I am unharmed and mostly unruffled. In fact, Toto's apparent glee and carefree attitudes are a reflection that you are giving it a happy and fulfilling lifestyle. You should be commended for that. It was easy to feel forgiving on a day such as today. From the emotional ashes, hope springs anew. Captain MacKenzie and Commander Dakora certainly understood that; if that was the message they wished to convey with this meeting today then they were successful. Adea: response Salkath stood for a moment and considered the creature again, fully and completely. It was unsanitary and uncouth. It lolled its tongue in a comically grotesque manner. Its manners were... suspect, if present at all. Yet... the way it looked at Genkos. Affection, loyalty, and happiness conveyed in its dark, expressive eyes. The creature had its own strange, twisted nobility. The Vulcan could understand how a bond could be formed with such a creature. Despite the screaming objections of his logical mind, Salkath found his mouth moving of its own accord. Salkath: Consider, if you ever find yourself on an extended away mission or otherwise indisposed, that I may be able to temporarily provide care for Toto. ::slight flush again:: I'm sure you already have long standing arrangements, though. I would understand if you never need consider my offer. But, I will let it stand nonetheless. Adea: response Salkath harrumphed again and broke his gaze, looking towards the table. The scent of grilled meats hung heavy on the air, and though he did not find that particularly appealing, he still found his stomach mildly clamoring. Salkath: It is well past time for me to repast, so I will excuse myself. Congratulations again, Commander, and Toto, ::looking at the dog:: until we meet again. Adea: possible response TAG/END 3 Quote Link to comment
