USS Veritas investigates damaged outpost

Recommended Posts

THE SHOALS – The USS Veritas crew is rethinking proven technologies to increase their effectiveness in the Shoals.

The USS Veritas, NCC-95035, recently featured in the Federation News Service for the ship’s response to extremist attacks on Antor II, departed the capital of the Colonial Coalition central to the Federation presence in the Shoals region. Now, Veritas has turned its attention to a badly damaged Shoals outpost, Outpost 3.

Starfleet personnel have had no comment thus far on any possible link between the attacks on Antor II and the attack that nearly destroyed Outpost 3, but a high-ranking source from within the Colonial Marshal Service indicate that the commander of the Veritas, Captain Roshanara Rahman, has taken a personal interest and is leading away teams herself to assess the damage.

Meanwhile, the starship’s crew has also been pouring resources into an experimental shuttle refit project. The project is centered on the development of modular attachments for two of the Veritas’ type-10 shuttlepods. If successful, the redesigns ships would have access to a variety of interchangeable loadouts that would allow for extreme versatility when dealing with the region’s unique physical properties and challenging political situations.

“The Shoals present unique challenges when it comes to power management,” remarked Lieutenant Commander Mei’konda, the Veritas’ Caitian first officer. “Our ship carries Type 10 shuttlepods, which handle those difficulties well, but which have a limited range of missions they can handle. We’re attempting to expand the shuttles’ capabilities through modular additions.”
