StarBase 118 Staff
SHADOW’S EDGE — In the midst of a murder investigation and pirate attacks, the government of Shadow’s Edge declared a state of emergency. “This is only a temporary measure,” said government spokesperson Gerald Nielsen. “The government is doing everything possible to ensure law and order.” Late last year, Captain Rosa Carrero of the USS Veritas was having dinner with the governor of the Federation colony known as Shadow’s Edge when the governor’s residence was attacked. Carrero was killed, but the governor was left unharmed. Captain Rahman of the USS Syracuse was ordered to assume command of the Veritas and to investigate Carrero’s death and the current situation at Shadow’s Edge. One of her former shipmates Evan Delano was assigned as an undercover Federation Security operative in the Shoals, infiltrating the Reya-Laialara Vulcan sect and is believed to know who is responsible or may even have some connection to the attack. Rahman and the Veritas arrived at Shadow’s Edge, where they interviewed the governor, investigated the crime scene, and also encountered Lenik, a Vulcan extremist who attacked a shuttle from Veritas before fleeing in his ship. After going over their findings in a staff meeting, the crew planned their next steps. Two teams returned to the planet Shadow’s Edge. One went to continue interviewing the governor of Shadow’s Edge and investigate the government’s response thus far to the attack. The other team is going undercover to see if they can gain any additional information from the locals. Meanwhile, those remaining on the ship have responded to a distress call from a freighter that was attacked. The freighter is badly damaged with many crew members dead. The away team has discovered one of the attackers who boarded the ship, a Klingon woman, wounded and left behind after the attackers left.
