  7. Now that's a "good job guarantee" post @Geoffrey Teller!! ((Starfleet Administrative Complex, Cait)) ::Stepping out of the Starfleet Administration Building on Cait, Geoffrey Teller had a massive headache. It had been nearly four days since they arrived back on Cait courtesy of a shuttle borrowed from the Stevenson, and while he'd be absolved of any wrongdoing due to the extenuating circumstances of their recent pirate activity, Starfleet Security still took an inordinate amount of time debriefing him about ever conceivable detail of the incident. Finally done, and with the firm impression that Admiral Washington was watching him closely, Teller stretched his legs and soaked in a bit of the local sun. After everything that had happened during his leave, Teller felt a bone deep exhaustion and wanted nothing more than to find a dark local pub and drink until he couldn't remember his own name. Walking across the grounds of the Admin facility, Teller saw numerous officers and crewmen, traveling in pairs or small groups, moving briskly between one part of the complex or another and was briefly reminded of his time at the Academy.:: Teller: oO Seems like lifetimes ago. I wonder if this is how a Trill feels all the time. Oo ::Teller made his way to the guest accommodations he'd been assigned until the Veritas arrived. He was still technically on leave and briefly mulled the idea of visiting the famed Caitian space dock, one of the largest in the Federation. A few taps on the console in his room informed him that the USS Astreaus, a refitted Galaxy class, was sitting in dock at the moment, undergoing the Warp XV upgrades that would soon be executed on the Veritas. Yawning, Teller was about to turn the console off and crawl into bed when his heart stopped.:: Teller: oO The Montreal. Oo ::A high priority fleetwide notice flashed across the screen, flatly stating that the USS Montreal had been lost. Teller gripped the edge of the desk so hard it creaked. Almost half of the command crew were former comrades aboard the Veritas, and several had become close friends in the short time they had spent together before being reassigned. Now, Teller wasn't sure if any of them were still alive. The notice was infuriatingly short on details, but indicated that the ship had been abandoned shortly prior to its destruction. Having barely survived two such evacuations himself, Teller knew all too well how much could go wrong in a ships final moments and desperately prayed that his friends were somehow unharmed. Teller re-read the notice, hoping to wring some additional information from it that simply wasn't there. Finally, he slumped into the desk chair and put his fingers to the bridge of his nose, trying to keep from venting his frustration by smashing the console to bits.:: ((Flashback, USS Artemis)) Computer: All Hands, Prepare for Slipstream in t-minus three minutes. Warning. Slipstream corridor instability detected. Warning. Do not engage Slipstream drive. Warning. Automatic Safety Interlocks Non-Responsive. Warning. Do not engage Slipstream drive. Warning. Slipstream jump in t-minus two minutes and fifty seconds. Warning.... ((Cait, Guest Quarters)) ::Teller felt his chest tighten as memories of his first near death experience washed over him, unbidden and unwelcomed. His pulse accelerated and a bitter taste filled his mouth.:: ((Flashback, Corridor - Deck 9, USS Veritas )) ::Teller, G’var, Doctor Maxwell and party headed to the shuttlebay as the ships lights flickered around them. Teller could hear systems failing and rerouting, the dip and hum of the power system struggling vainly to meet demand. Teller knew that whatever was overwhelming their ship was doing it with shocking speed. Teller tried to open a comm line to engineering but only got static..:: ((Cait, Guest Quarters)) ::Teller desperately tried to push the memories back but the [...] had broken and he sat sweating, gripping the arms of the chair with white knuckles:: ((Flashback, Secure Cargo Bay, The Bolian Rose)) ::The air grew thin as the doors continued to separate. Teller looked to the far wall, expecting Mistress IA to reset the door controls, but she was nowhere to be seen. Teller’s eyes went wide as he struggled across the nearly silent, airless bay, his lungs bursting and vision going red. He was only about halfway there when his legs buckled and he collapsed to the deck, gasping.:: ((Cait, Guest Quarters)) ::Teller pitched forward in the chair and forced his breathing under control. He tried to think back to Jansen's Orrey's advice about keeping the panic in check, but too much had happened lately and Teller's mental reserves were exhausted. He stumbled to the replicator and quickly produced a large glass of cold water, which he drank in several desperate gulps. He could feel his heartbeat slowly slightly but still felt deeply rattled when another fleetwide notice splashed its way across the screen.:: Teller:: oO Please be good news, please. Oo ::It was. The crew of the Montreal, including its Captain, had been recovered successfully by the Colonial Marshalls and were even now on the way to Cait for debriefing, recovery and reassignment. The casualty list was thankfully short and didn't contain any names Teller knew. Teller skimmed the list a second time then turned off the display, rubbing his temples. Life in Starfleet was never easy and there were days that could absolutely shake a man down to his very core but today, at least, the fates had been kind and, several replicated beers later, Teller fell asleep sitting upright in the small bed with a smile on his lips.:: [End] =============================== Lieutenant JG Geoffrey Teller Chief Engineer USS Veritas - NCC 95035 Capt. R. Rahman, Commanding V239509GT0
  8. Congratulations and welcome to the fleet! You all did a tremendous job! Happy simming!
  9. Congratulations new ensigns! Welcome to the fleet!
  10. I chose Harry Kim because not I feel bad for the guy not being promoted, but he had some great moments in the show that I'd like to see more of. There was a glimpse of his command style in the finale that would be great to watch in a series. Also Lieutenant Barclay. He was the more real of all the characters in my opinion. Whereas when a new episode happened it was as if the main cast forgot what happened, but Barclay's approach to things was more cautioused anxiety because of the past.
  11. Congratulations guys and it was fun training you all! Welcome to the fleet!
  12. I was browsing around youtube and found this little gem! Reserve your tickets now for May 13th! https://bit.ly/2Gb3pIu <--- website to go to.
  13. Congratulations to the both of you! Welcome and have fun!
  14. Great job, everyone! Keep up that enthusiasm! This class was fun and welcome to the fleet!
  15. ((Intergalactic Comm Link Show)) ((OOC- Thanks to @Chloe Waters for humoring me with this! ((Chloe’s Quarters, Deck 3 – USS Eagle)) ::The young ensign didn’t know why she agreed to this. She was told it was… an honor to be featured on this… Intergalactic Comm Link Show. Perhaps it was. But Chloe still felt… uneasy about it. The woman slowly paced around the room, waiting. Then the hologram appeared in the middle of her quarters. Chloe watched on quietly, though she could hear Mandy starting to stir in the other room. Any time now.:: Mitchell: Welcome to another stellar episode of the Intergalactic Comm Link show! As always, I’m your host the amazing, incredible and stupendously modest Dresdon P. Mitchell! We incredibly fortunate tonight to have another very special young officer speaking to us from the USS Eagle! Please give an Intergalactic welcome to Ensign Chloe Waters! Mitchell: Welcome to the show, Ensign! Since the good folks at home don’t know you as well as I do, why don’t you tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do out there on the Eagle? ::Chloe heard Mandy barking quietly in the other room. The doors hissed quietly open and Mandy padded out of the bedroom, looking to Chloe and the hologram with her. The dog walked up to them, and gave the hologram a confused sniff.:: Waters: ::in an obviously artificial voice as her mouth remains motionless:: I am Chloe Waters. I have been assigned to the USS Eagle as her helmsman. ::she reached down and stroked the golden retriever’s smooth coat of fur as she continued, the dog looking curiously up at her with big brown eyes as she continued to address her invisible audience.:: More or less, I pilot the ship and make certain that we do not crash into anything. Mitchell: ::chuckles:: I’m sure your crewmates appreciate your diligence avoiding all those rocks and blackholes out there. Now I’m sure my viewers are wondering about that remarkable voice of yours...mind telling us about it? ::Chloe looked down briefly, Mitchell seemingly forgotten as she stroked her dog’s fur. After a few moments she slowly lifted her head,, seemingly caught off guard by the question that was now posed to her.:: Waters: ::huffing softly:: I cannot speak. This device is extremely experimental. It converts my thoughts to speech. ::A brief look of disbelief crossed Chloe’s face as she delivered this news, as though disbelieving she just told lord knows how many people about the device she uses.:: Without it, I am mute. ::Chloe blinked once.:: Waters: oO Wait a minute. He is not really here. No one is here. He is just a hologram. Not real. He is not real and will disappear soon. You can do this… Oo Mitchell: ::nods:: Isn’t that incredible folks? Why, I couldn’t get through a shower in the morning without talking to myself - I’m my biggest fan! Lets give her a real big hand foks! The Academy must’ve been some mountain for you to climb. I see that Commander Jocelyn Marshall was your training officer. Is she as tough as they say? ::The golden retriever continued to bump Chloe with her head. The human looked down at her and smirked before looking up again.:: Waters: She was… I could not envision my training going any differently. ::She paused.:: I could not have asked for a better pair of senior officers to lead our exercises. Mitchell: ::smiles:: Always fantastic to hear that the folks on the ground are every bit the heros that you folks out in space are. What can you tell us about your class? Any exciting stories? Waters: ::seemingly more at ease as her dog’s phead nuzzles Chloe’s leg:: I fell, mostly. My short height poses some challenges which I was… unequipped to deal with in our training scenario. In which we had to intercept a runaway starship and ensure we could stop its deceleration before we boarded it, in our attempt to discover what was causing significant control malfunctions. Mitchell: Yet another complaint about the chairs in Starfleet::chuckles:: We’ll be sure to pass that along to our friends in Starfleet Engineering. ::glances at the dog:: Chloe, are you cheating on poor old Dresdon? Who’s your cute furry friend there? ::Chloe looked down at the playful, curious creature as it stared at where Mitchell stood, looking at that space with confusion. Chloe scratched her ears and the dog looked back at her, consumed by her owner’s attentions.:: Waters: This is Mandy. She is about two years old. Full golden retriever. I have had her for about six months. ::She smiled down at the creature.:: She helps me destress and deal with most social situations off duty. Mitchell: What a dynamite team! Starfleet got a fantastic two for one deal with you, that’s for sure! My producer tells me that you just completed your first mission. What can you tell us about that that won’t cause an Admiral to yell at me? ::chuckles:: Oh, it wouldn’t be the first time, folks. ::Chloe took several long moments to consider. She didn’t know what she could, or couldn’t, say at this point. Still, she had to say something… right?:: ::Chloe looked down at Mandy, who nuzzled her hand affectionately.:: Waters: We were sent to recover an artifact and ran into some… difficulties. The crew of the Eagle… minus myself, Lieutenant Drex and otherswere thrown back in time, and we had to bring them home. Mitchell: As they always say, There’s no time like the present! ::laughs:: Or whenever you are! It’s been a real pleasure speaking with you and your golden buddy, Chloe. Usually I’m the only dog on this show.::laughs:: That’s our show for tonight folks, make sure to tune in next time as I continue my insightful interview series with the most incredible young officers the Fleet has near a comm terminal. Don’t miss me too much! ::laughs::
  16. Welcome to the fleet! Glad you guys graduated! Congrats!
  17. I couldn't bring myself to vote because there's no science option. We are such fragile creatures!
  18. I liked how at first Captain Pike was thinking this was all some sort of Divine intervention. As if God was the reason that led them there. Then once they were on the planet, seeing how affected everyone was by the religious cult was quite the ride once the religious lady actually saw the transporter beams and still had it in her mind that some omniscient being was still at play. I was hoping they'd recruit the guy towards the end, but instead traded for the camera.
  19. ((OOC: A few months ago, I thought it'd a neat idea for IC interviews. With the help of @Kayla Drex and @Geoffrey Teller, we were able to come up with this! Thank you guys and if anyone else wants to be interviewed by a flamboyant and eccentric TV host, let me know!)) ((ICL Broadcast 27, Studio 9, San Francisco, California, North America, Earth)) ::The camera pans down on a modern news studio, replete with an enormous anchors desk, couch and chairs. Upon the desk, next to the oversized microphone is an assortment of sleek, hypermodern PADDS, all in the most fashionable colors, arranged in an eye pleasing rainbow. Entering the studio to raucous applause we see our host, Dresdon Mitchell, an almost artificially handsome human male with perfectly coiffed hair, an exceptionally well tailored, multi-chromatic suit and a high voltage smile.:: ::He strides to the desk confidently, clearly the Captain of this particular ship, and takes his seat with a dramatic flourish and crosses his leg over his knee with gusto. Behind him, the majestic San Francisco skyline twinkles like the stars and the Golden Gate bridge is perfectly framed. The camera settles on Dresdon as he, with false modesty, accepts the adulation of the crowd and settles in.:: Mitchell: ::smiles wide:: Hello, my name is Dresdon P. Mitchell and this is ICL, or the Intergalactic Comm Link if you've been living on Rura Penthe! On tonight's special episode, I’ll be showing you the gift of gab with a splendid young woman aboard a distant Starfleet vessel so you, my wonderful audience, can see where they've been Boldly Going and what they've been Boldly Doing! ::He then turned a quarter way in his chair and tapped a few demands on his PADD. The San Francisco skyline blurred as the image of a beautiful young officer wearing a teal Starfleet uniform was superimposed.:: Mitchell: ::smiles and arches both eyebrows:: Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between, I'd like to introduce you to my most special friend, Lieutenant Kayla Drex! Kayla is currently a science officer aboard the USS Eagle and she's doing a great job! Let's hear it for her folks! ::The crowd cheers enthusiastically:: Mitchell: Wonderful wonderful. How are you tonight, Kayla? Drex: I'm doing very well, Dresdon, thank you for having me on! How are you? Mitchell: ::chuckles:: My viewers already know how great I am! ::laughter from the crowd.:: So tonight is about you! How are you enjoying your time aboard the Eagle? Drex: I'm having the time of my life. I grew up hearing about all manner of deep space phenomena, and now I get to actually see and study it up close and personal! Maybe I'm just a huge goober, but this is like a dream come true for me. ::The crowd laughs supportively and finishes with an appreciative 'awwww':: Mitchell: Stop it, you'll make me blush! ::smiles and winks, crowd laughs:: That's wonderful to hear though, it's so moving when a young person like yourself has their dreams fulfilled by a life out there in the stars! Now, I understand from my notes here that you grew up with a very interesting family. Your father, Dr. Gulliver Drex is a renowned Quantum Physicist, winner of the 2261 Hawking Prize for his work in...particle...sya...well...folks I can't pronounce this!::laughter from crowd:: What was it like growing up in the presence of such a famous figure? Drex: I had the best of everything - not possessions; mom and dad always the value of living with a minimum of baggage, but as far as opportunity, I was never lacking. Between Dad, Mom, and my four brothers, there was never any lack of something … interesting happening. ::smiling to herself as though at an inside joke only she knew:: Mitchell: ::smiles and covers his mouth as if something was shocking:: Gasp, sounds like someone was playing with wormholes at home! ::hoots and laughs from the crowd:: My research team also received a note from one of your colleagues, a Lt. German Galven. ::a chorus of ascending ooOOOOOs from the crowd:: He said to make sure we ask you about your time together at the famed Starfleet Academy! Can you tell us what happened, KayKay? Apparently you two shared some classes but Mr. Galven says he graduated faster than you! ::shocked laughter and amused boos from the crowd:: Drex: I bet he did. I'll have to send him a message thanking him for his delightfully sharp memory. ::a little chuckle:: The Academy was honestly very different than I originally envisioned it being. In my mind, I imagined some cross between an ancient campus of brick buildings, state-of-the-art technology, and military boot camp. What I experienced however was a place where literally anything can and did happen. My last two years were actually self-directed study, because they didn't have classes for my specialization. That's what I mean though: they didn't just say, “Sorry, kid, you're just going to have to take the same thing as everyone else.” They heard my ideas, gave me guidance, and let the ideas grow. It was … incredible. Mitchell: Sure sounds that way! I do self-directed study myself all the time, mostly on the mating habits of our alien friends. ::raucous hoots from the crowd:: So, after the Academy, you went directly to the Eagle? Take us there with you, KayKay! First thing. Go! Drex: The first thing I did when I got on-board was introduce myself to the ship. That sounds kind of weird, but I used to walk around the woods by my house growing up, and I always kinda felt like they were watching over me - like they had a form of consciousness I couldn’t quite understand. The Eagle - and I guess all ships - she has a personality - I wanted her to know me, and know that I’m grateful for her. ::realizing this isn’t a 1-on-1 conversation:: Aaaaaand now everyone is going to think I’m crazy. Mitchell: ::laughs:: I’m sure nobody here thinks you’re crazy ::looks offscreen with a smirk:: Oo, it seems we only have a couple minutes left - before you go, I understand you’ve been promoted recently. Congratulations! How'd that feel? Drex: I was pretty surprised it happened so quickly to be honest. When Commander Oddas pinned on my new pip, I felt like I was flying. I’m starting to feel the weight it carries though. Mitchell: ::more awws from the crowd:: Aw, smart, lovely and humble! Starfleet sure knows how to pick them! Final question - After everything you've experienced, what’s the one piece of advice you'd like to pass on to all the impressionable young Kaylas watching right now? Drex: Never stop dreaming, always try to see from new perspectives, and never believe anyone who tells you “It can’t be done.” It just hasn’t been done. ::The smiling young officer is replaced by the circling Starfleet logo before it fades completely, again revealing the majestic San Francisco skyline. Dresden turns to look directly at the audience and camera.:: Mitchell: ::smiles wide:: Inspiring words from an inspiring young woman. Here from all of us at ICL, we wish you luck on your journeys, Lieutenant Kayla Drex - make us folks on the ground proud! That’s all we have for tonight, everyone. Tune in next time when ICL will once again bring the furthest frontiers of the Federation right into your living room with absolutely zero chance of getting space sick! GOOD NIGHT! ::the crowd cheers as the set lights come down and Dresden dramatically tosses his PADD aside, waving excitedly to the camera.::
