The basics about building a character are found on the Your Character page on our website. You can also read ahead to the tutorial you'll receive in training about your bio, found here. You do not have to have your character bio built before training, as we'll walk you through that.

If you're really ambitious, you can also start reading about how to build a bio on the wiki, but you won't receive your wiki account until training is done.

Normally a wiki-savy crew member will create the basics of your character's wiki page after being assigned to a ship, too. :)

I am not a cadat, but, I remembr we had o have our bios written before gradution. I found out the Academy instructors were helpful, and there to nser your questions, and even gave out a fewideas and choice ptions. Yo uhad to do there rest. It is not that hard. Wht's hard is keeping it updated as yourcareer takes off. Hope this helps

Now, I would like to ask a question of my own Since, a writer has to write a bio (it took me three days to write up one that truly reprsents you.

Why does it have to be that way for PNPCs and NPCs? I believe there should be a bio for any character being used on a ship. But, can we adopt a shorter, condensed version, one that is precise, well thought out, and to the point. If it is an NPC for the ship's record it should be even shorter than an PNPCs. Is there such a bio form, or does one need to create one, then sell the idea to the Captain, and crew of a vessel.. Then have the new form brought before the council for final ideas, and votes to make it offical.

We already have the "basic character bio," found here: http://wiki.starbase118.net/wiki/index.php?title=Basic_Character_Pages

The character I have in mind is a former marine that was transferred to fleet following the drop in hostilities and as a way to bolster the fleets preparedness with experienced combat personnel. I'm thinking modern day MACO. First off would this be a problem? Second, any thoughts on bio timeline? I'm thinking he had to go through star fleet marine boot camp, then some type of NCO training, maybe during battle time? Then obivious battle experience and then the academy. I'm thinking with all this he would b an older cadet, maybe late 20's. Any thoughts our guidance from the brass?

Things work a little different in our fleet, which is one of the ways that our story diverges from the main-line Trek canon. Marines are a part of our fleet and can be placed on some ships. The barrier between Marine and non-Marine officers is thin, and many people have moved from Marine to non-Marine roles depending on available positions, ship transfers, etc.

You can play a Marine, or you could play a former Marine who has transferred into a non-Marine role. If you want to give him a history in the Marines, you could certainly make him older than the normal ensign.

How do I write the professional history of my character? By writing the courses they've taken and their specialisations? I don't know what the format is for that part.

Professional history is generally an ongoing record of your postings following graduation from the Academy. However, you can fill it with information (such as courses like you mentioned) pertaining to your characters time in the workforce, or perhaps they obtained a degree prior to Starfleet Academy.

You can also check out the fleet roster and click through the links to any of the profiles for some inspiration: https://wiki.starbase118.net/wiki/index.php?title=Member_Directory

Thank you, I was really lost about how to create this part of the bio. Perhaps I could add the programs, courses, etc my character has been on during the Academy?

Totally. Check this out: https://wiki.starbase118.net/wiki/index.php?title=Starfleet_Academy_Curriculum

(And once you finish training and get a wiki account, you can use the info at the bottom to add your curriculum to your wiki profile!)

That's perfect, thank you! There is just too much to choose from, it's overwhelming.
