Five total cadets for this week and one returning member. We usually have to do a double class once a quarter or so, so this is a little out of the ordinary :)

Hello,

My name is Preston and my character is called Reeven Merrick a Rodulan. I actually spent some time looking through the different races on here and that one looked very interesting, I look forward to playing one and I hope I do it justice.

I have been watching Star Trek since 1979 when my uncle and a friend of his took me to see the motion picture. (I might be showing my age a bit there) After that I went back and watched every single TOS ep and have been an advid watcher ever since. I look foward to playing with you guys, you seem to be an interesting bunch from all over. I see characters from all over and of every age group, from barely out of their second decade to 20+ decades. it looks like all sorts are accepted, so long as one doesn't go too far.

It will be time for training soon, but I hope to see you folks IC very soon.

- Preston

Hi all,

My name is Nicole, i'm 25 and I'm going to sim Nira, a Deltan. I chose a Deltan mostly because I wanted to add some depth to my future sims, and while it's true that could be done with any race, I like the way that Deltans, maybe more so than most humanoid races, have to cope with things such as isolation from their peers and what not, and i'm looking forward to explore that with Nira. Can't tell much about who she is right now, because usually I let my characters "write themselves" and see what they turn out to be.

I have been watching Star Trek since I was like five (TNG is my favorite. Surprisingly, I've never watched TOS. And I also liked the JJ Abrams movies. I know, take me behind the shed and shoot me :P). Personally I'm a bit reclusive, and probably a bit of an odd character. I'm the kind of girl that would rather play with legos and help my dad with his car while my sisters played with Barbies. LOL, go figure. I was a Navy Air Traffic Controller for five years and now I'm a full time engineering student (but I still have plenty of time :D).

As for Roleplaying, I've been in a range of other sims (though this is my first Star Trek one), and I also used to do quite a bit of "nation" Roleplaying (if you know what NationStates is, then you know what I'm talking about).

Looking forward to RPing with everyone here.

Hi everyone, my name is Greg, and I live in southwest Missouri. I am a Star Trek fan, and I've watched all the shows/movies of all the series, read over a hundred ST novels, was a member of the Starfleet international fan club for several years and took lots of their Starfleet Academy courses, and I have been to a few ST conventions, too. My wife and children also share my enjoyment of Star Trek, which has provided lot of family fun. I look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks!

Wow -- 100 ST novels! That must be most of them, right? :D

I think that there are over 400 ST novels including all the various Trek incarnations. If that's correct, then I've only read about 1/4. Thanks for having me, it's great to be here!

Hey there :)

My name is Kris and I'm about to start the training cruise next week. Rebellious as I am (I'm not, really), I haven't followed the instructions to introduce my character in the respective thread first, as I am not sure if I have to adjust some of the details. Let me know if it is important for the training process to do so.

I'm currently living in Switzerland and when this group was founded, I was just about being born. I used to work as an IT technician for five years, but I didn't enjoy it that much, I spent most of the time reading on Memory Alpha ;) I cannot say I have read over 100 Star Trek novels (that would be more like... two) and I have to confess that I haven't seen every episode yet, but I am working on it. After my IT days, I served as low ranked radio specialist in the swiss army, later I became a trained nurse and now, I'm working as stage manager for theatre productions, which is probably my greatest passion. English isn't my main language, that would be German, but I think my writing should be well enough. Besides that, I speak French and the most basic bits of Italian.

I have never done anything like this before, so I'm quite nervous. I played a lot of computer RPGs, always extending what the program presented with my own additional stories. I stumbled over Starbase 118 when searching for background informations I needed for one of my Fanfics, your Wiki featured some pretty useful details about the Aeroshuttle :P I wondered what Wiki it was and landed on your site.

Just starting my holidays, I'm looking forward to all this, but I am not sure if it's going to something for me. However, I'm quite positive about that, since it involves two of my favorite things, writing and Star Trek.

I'm open for any questions :)

Cheers

Hi Kris!

English may not be your native language, but you're writing it fantastically so far. You probably write it better than some people I knew in high school and university.

Welcome; hope you like it here.

Welcome to the group, Kris.

I ended up here for similar reasons, looking for some Trek-nology to use in something I was writing. That was in 2007 and I'm still here!

I think you'll enjoy yourself, this group is all about collaborative story telling and a lot of the writers here are fantastic.

Thank you both for the welcome, I'm looking forward to maybe some day meet you in the game :)

And Trellis, thanks for the accolades regarding my English skills, even though there is a whole word missing in the last paragraph :P

You'll find that there are actually a decent amount of players here who do not speak English as their first language, so don't worry. Your English is great! (Certainly better than when I attempt to write German!!)

I hope you enjoy yourself. No need to be nervous, the academy will train you on all the basics that you'll need to succeed here. If you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to ask your trainers. They'll help you out!

Just a quick hello then!

My name is Mide, I just joined up the other day and am extremely excited to give this a go. My character is Edison Naquin (I just added an introduction for him on the Forums as well) and he and I both will be starting our training on Monday. This is my first ever round of simming, or gaming in any real fashion! Also only ever written stories I read to my wife as a hobby, so open to hints and pointers as needed. Please let me know if I do anything wrong!

I live in New York now, but grew up in the barren Australian Outback, where I spent my youth plying my time to astronomy, building toy rockets and playing Star Trek! My room was set up like the bridge of a ship and I spent hours inside exploring the Galaxy! No real favorite series, love them all for different reasons. I cut my teeth on TNG when I was around five. I do adore the original movies a lot, aside from the Motion Picture and the Final Frontier!

I'm an Engineer by degree and Mechanic by trade, but have worked in Hotels for some years thanks to this city! Although you'll still find me regularly on the tools or the drafting table, I'm always pulling something apart or attempting to put something else back together! For a time I was consumed with traveling, but since settling here I've remained in one place, which is one of the reasons I now have time to try my hand at something like this.

I'm a veracious reader, am amassing a small library here in this cramped old apartment. Aside from books have a huge interest in short wave radios and I restore old ham sets and typewriters in my spare time. I'm also a nut for pre-GUI computers, which is just another hobby that fills the apartment with clunky old gear of little real use!

Married 7 years now to the most amazing and beautiful woman. That's about all I can think of!

Helloooo~ I'm Brenda. I was named after my grandmother and over the years, I've developed a severe hatred towards any and all attempts to try and shorten my name. My family calls me Scooter, and you guys and gals are welcome to, as well. I'm originally from Conquest, NY (a town so small that people don't know of its existence, unless they live or have lived there) and now, I'm living in Kings Mountain, NC... Another small town that almost nobody has heard of. See a pattern? There are times when I think I'm funny but usually, according to my gran, I'm a miserable cow. My online persona is completely different from my real life persona so if you ever have the displeasure of meeting me in person, you've been warned.

Yeah, that was a joke... Or rather, an attempt at a joke. I'm twenty-one years old (not young... I hate whoever coined that wretched phrase). Believe it or not, I'm socially awkward and usually wind up making a fool of myself. As for a job, I don't have one. It's not because I'm too young or because nobody's hiring. It's because I have severe anxiety attacks when in public and after trying to go through college to work from home... Well, let's just say that I'm a community college drop-out with a huge debt and no income to speak of, haha. My life is pretty much writing, reading and video games and because of that, I'm developing carpal tunnel but when you can't leave the house, what more is there to do?

As for my experience with the Star Trek franchise, I used to watch TOS with a friend. The only thing I really remember from it was that I cried a lot, and I developed a deep, disturbing attraction towards Spock. Before you give that gross look at the computer screen, I was more attracted to his intellect than anything else. When I turned thirteen and was deemed old enough to do a lot of the things online that I do today, I went on a frenzy and made up all of this spockequalslove craziness. I got funny looks, and people whispered quite a bit behind my back but otherwise, I was content. It's next to impossible to make friends in a small town when your first love is a fictional character and theirs is Aaron Carter. Not to mention, heavens forbid, should I bring shame to their reputation... Can't have that, now, can we?

To wrap up this exhausting novel, I'll just say that I found you guys through Google and that I chose a human because they live their lives, for the most part, in shades of grey and are more morally ambiguous than they are anything else. Oh, and if you want to get in touch, you can do so via the thingamabobs in my profile. I have everything listed, so don't be afraid to hit me up for a chat. I don't bite... Hard. I kid, I kid but seriously, I'm all for chatting, as you can probably tell, just from this rather long introductory post. I'm one of those people that can talk about seemingly nothing and before you know it, the day's flown by. Just ask my friend, Yulia... Who I may or may not tempt into joining... Mwahaha.

I apologize... I'm not normally this weird. I'm just sleep-deprived. Also, for those of you that looked at my name and wondered what was up with it, it's sentimental. My very first friend in the RP world gave me the idea when we created our matching email accounts. I no longer have the email account, but I cling to the name, regardless. The 94 at the end is just something I tack on, in case CrimsonZ is taken. It also happens to be my birth year.

Hi Brenda! Thanks so much for the detailed and interesting introduction! I'm from a tiny, pretty much unheard of town in Scotland myself so I know how that goes. I think we probably all have a Star Trek crush we could talk of. I first got into Trek when Voyager first aired over here in the UK so my first Trek crush was from that series. I think the next one came from Deep Space 9 and there was even an ENT one at one point, although there may have been more spanning my teenage years. *cringe*

Anyway, you've found good company here and I'm sure you'll enjoy the game! :D

Maybe we should start a club for small-town Trek fans?

I grew up in an English village even I would struggle to find on a map (Leek Wootton - although Google makes these things much too easy now).

I think my only Trek crush was (is?) from TNG.

Brenda - happily writing, reading and gaming form 99.9% of what we do here, so you'll not find your time wasted.

It's also an incredibly supportive community of fellow geeks.
