USS Veritas moves to protect USS Astraeus from pirate attack

Recommended Posts

THE SHOALS – After an incursion into the Shoals by a Starfleet vessel much too massive to handle the region’s unique spacial properties, the Veritas has moved to assist.

The ship in distress – USS Astraeus, NCC-70652 – is a Galaxy class starship, one of the largest ships Starfleet has to offer. Its entry into the Shoals region is a violation of the strictly enforced limitations on space faring vessels in the region, which is normally limited to two million tonnes. For reference, the Astraeus has a mass of nearly five million tonnes. The reason behind her captain’s decision to bring the ship into the Shoals despite these limits remains a mystery.

Upon receipt of the distress call by the Astraeus, the USS Veritas, NCC-95035, repositioned to assist. Reports have been intermittent since word of the distress call was received, but FNS has confirmed that pirate activity has been spotted in the vicinity of the Astraeus’ last known location. It’s also confirmed that Veritas has declared red alert and sounded general quarters, and that both ships have sustained weapons fire. Additional details on the status of both ships are unclear at this time.

The Veritas’ acting Captain, Lieutenant Commander Mei’konda, has released a statement that the Astraeus has come under heavy attack, but that they are currently doing their best to ensure the safety of everyone on both ships. Captain Roshanara Rahman, the Veritas’ regular commanding officer, is on leave.
