Welcome to the Poll of the Week!

It has been a scorcher this week where I live. As such, I have been looking for ways to cool off in my free time. The other day, I went into a local coffee bar and decided to get myself a drink to do just that. At the counter, the person in front of me ordered a tea, turned to me and said that a nice, hot tea actually cools him down. When my turn came up to choose what to have, I tried the same and ordered a tea. Then I had to choose.

I am not a tea drinker and apparently there are quite a few choices when it comes to tea. Instead of pondering, I decided to go with what I know. I chose the Earl Grey tea.

As I sat sipping on the tea, I realized why I chose that tea. It was the first one that came to mind from my days of watching the Next Generation as it was also Captain Picard's favorite beverage. I smiled to myself wondering how many other things I chose based upon influences from pop culture and was certain it was quite a bit, and to tell you the truth, I am not a big fan of Earl Grey tea.

So that brings us to this week's multi-pronged Poll of the Week. Have you ever had Earl Grey tea? If so, did you try it because of Star Trek? Did you like it? If so, how often do you drink it? The pollsters here at Poll of the Week are eager to find out, so vote away and don't be afraid to leave your comments below.

Tried it in school because of TNG. Drinking it black was weird, but that was how Captain Picard did it, so that was how I had to do it.

And it was good!

I love Earl Grey - it's great before bedtime, and I now sometimes have it with milk, without milk, or with lemon (which is particularly nice!). Recommend!

I like Lady Gray more, because of orange aroma in it, but I always have Earl Gray at home, too. And yes, I like them both sweet with either lemon or rum.

I prefer either Irish or English Breakfast Tea with milk and sugar piping hot....and NEVER in a Styrofoam cup.

I discovered Earl Tea Grey while watching TNG, and these days I have it once a week. Other than that I also drink coffee (and trying not to over do it), and all sorts of herbal/fruit teas, my favorite being one made with grapefruit.

I tried tea as a teenager because of Star Trek. My first tea was Earl Grey, hot. I like Earl Grey - though it cinnamon is no longer a favorite or a common drink. I prefer ginger black, English afternoon, cinnamon sunset or herbal infusions like Tazo's wild sweet orange.

Unfortunately I started drinking less tea and more coffee when I decided to cut all added sugar from my diet. I like black coffee, but tea needs to have cream and sugar in my book. So now tea is a treat rather than the rule. :(

I was a tea drinker before TNG came along. I liked the sound of Earl Grey and tried it and liked it. One of the few teas I drink without putting anything in it.

Then I moved south and discovered sweetened tea. I tried EG with sweetener, but kind of messes with the taste.

Currently I stock my EG standby along with Green Tea.
