Welcome to the Poll of the Week!

As we come to terms with the loss of a member of one more of the Star Trek original series greats, Leonard Nimoy, this week's Poll of the Week will focus on a few of the more memorable scenes of that of the man who portrayed Mr. Spock in Star Trek throughout the last forty nine years. This is by no means a complete list, and as always, don't be afraid to add to the list.

It is hard to imagine that such an iconic character was almost scrapped after the original pilot aired, for being too demonic looking. But his character was kept, albeit changed somewhat from the original portrayal, and as such, became one of the most famous characters in Science Fiction lore. No matter how far the actor, Leonard Nimoy, tried to separate himself from the character he created on the small screen and later on the big screen, he found himself drawn back into that character, and embraced him as the years progressed. And right to the end, with his last tweet spelling the acronym LLAP or better known as "Live Long and Prosper".

And so, as a memorial to the passing of a Star Trek legend, this week at Poll of the Week, we will look at some of the most memorable scenes from Star Trek which featured Leonard Nimoy's Mr. Spock, and you may choose your favorite. If not there, please feel free to add to the list.

(Thanks to Lieutenant Johanna MacLaren for suggesting this poll!)

AAARGH!!! Why did you have to put us through this? Some of those scenes are heartbreaking!

I had to give a narrow lead to his death scene <cry!> in ST2, though I think his meeting himself in ST2009 was a close second.

Wrath of Khan, always.

It has always been one of the most powerful Star Trek moments for me anyway, and now it takes on an even more emotional significance.

So many to choose from, when I got the news, the tears came for a while. I knew he was in hospital, but I wasn't prepared for it. He has made a lasting impression on me and the world.

NOT BAD.

Not at all.

So many wonderful scenes and episodes involved Mr. Spock, but the deep pathos of Wrath of Kahn cannot be equaled. It is why the new movie's role reversal of the scene was such a flop. Leonard Nimoy was such a talent, and I'm grateful that he gave me so many hours of entertainment.

Prior to his portrayal of the intellectual Vulcan, alien species were always the enemy, entities to be feared. With Spock came the idea that the universe might just be filled with truly interesting beings of integrity. I'll miss him.

Of course, one of my happier favorites is Spock giving the neck pinch to the obnoxious guy with the boombox on the bus in The Journey Home. Goodbye Mr. Spock.

I loved so many of the light hearted moments of Spock's character. The bus scene is great in Star Trek 4. And "Are you sure it isn't time for a "colourful metaphor"?" and the colourful metaphor conversation between Kirk and Spock is comedy gold! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKNw2YmnjgY

Such an epic actor. Couldn't believe he'd passed away. Always wanted to meet him.
It just didn't feel right to linger on the sadness of his passing-I doubt he would have considered it logical- so I chose the bus scene. The first time I saw it, I laughed myself to the ground. Didn't recover for half an hour.

Personally, my favorite scene of ST4 is the Italian dinner scene. "Do you guys like Italian?" "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." Yes...and so do you." "...Yes."
