    Greetings

Hello Everyone! I'm super excited to submit my application. I've missed the simulation world as I retired some years ago but with the renewed love of Star Trek due to Discovery and Picard. I'd like to brush the dust off and get back to what I love. My character idea is a Bajoran/Betazoid individual who balances both cultures in an internal struggle while being the best he can be. Looking forward to working with everyone!

    Hi all

Hi all, I don't have a question but wanted to say a quick hello. I've run an RPG of a different IP for a few years on and off, and have always been interested in being a player in a Star Trek RPG, but did not want to commit to another evening each week. This is a perfect format for the character I've been developing. He's an unjoined Trill who didn't want to conform to the social traditions of applying to the Symbiosis Commission, and instead decided to see the galaxy by joining Starfleet Medical. Looking forward to beginning Cadet Training, and I'll see you out there!

    Hey All

No questions, but did want to introduce myself. I'm Ridian Harris. I going by Rid in the Real World. Once I'm that training I will be play the role of Ridian Harris a 33 years half Risian, half Terran double major in Engineering and Helm Navigation. (I could decide between those duty post, so I had him double major.) I love Star Trek. My favorite series is DS9, and my favorite Captain Janeway. I found this group through a google search, and it sounded awesome. I'm hope made tons of friend here.
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a robust, friendly RPG and found you via Google. I've been an active member of another RPG for over a decade, advancing through the ranks to Captain of two different ships; Ambassador and Sovereign class. Including a stint on their Council, Academy CO and Academy instructor. I'm experienced and would be happy to contribute in any capacity needed, but I'm an engineer and command crew member at heart. Steve, AKA, Steven Matrix.
  5. Hello everyone! My name is Justin and I am so, so, so happy to be joining up! My training starts on Monday Dec 3rd, but I wanted to at least drop a OOC line to everyone and let you know how appreciative I am for the invitation and I so look forward to getting to know everyone and telling some great stories with you all.
  6. Hello! After graduation, I've noticed some sims in my assigned ship ending with "tag/tbc". Now I've been able to (hopefully) suss out what they're used for, but I wanted to: 1. double check I had it right, and 2. point out that as far as I can tell, these specific acronyms aren't explicitly addressed in the training or on the wiki. As far as I can tell, using "tag" in a sim means you've tagged other people to respond. But I'm confused as to its use. Clearly some ships use a tag in the subject line to make clear who should respond to a sim; the Montreal's manual states that "Tag: Name" isn't to be used in email subject lines, and I have seen at least one appreciation post that does so, so that much is clear and makes sense. But what's the purpose of putting it at the bottom of an email? It seems to me fairly self-evident that a sim that contains "Name: response" is "tagging" the person named. Is putting "tag" at the bottom of an email just to make sure people know that there are spots they need to respond to? I'd also like to point out that in the training, the ((Location)) that is required at the start of every sim was referred to as a "location tag," and that the ::double colon:: was also referred to as an "action tag". It seems to me that narrative indicators and calls for a response are two entirely separate things, and should have separate names. "TBC" appears to stand for "to be continued." If that's not what it means, then I am very confused. But even if that is what it means, I'm still confused, because the nature of an an ongoing collaborative narrative sort of implies that every sim is "to be continued," right? Unless the CO makes a final sim that wraps up an adventure, there's no reason *not* to continue a story, right?
  7. Just wanted to say hello and that I am looking forward to training. Greetings!
  8. Are joint posts a thing here? I always loved doing joint post. If so, where can i request one? In my ships OOC group, or the forum?
  9. How come my latest post shows up in the googlegroup, but not in my g-mail inbox? Does that mean it wasn't sent or received properly?
  10. We just started our academy training and I'm wondering about the process for responding to tags presented by other simmers. For example, the CO started the sim with a post. I posted my sim by filling in my responses where appropriate, making sure to fill in dialog in all the tags presented for my character. Then the FO posted their sim after mine but included an additional tag for me to respond to. Should I now post an updated sim that includes everything I wrote before, add the FO's dialog, and fill out my dialog in the spot that the FO tagged me? Is there more etiquette in waiting for the rest of the cadets to add their responses and then include their dialog with my second post? Cadet Jona ch'Ranni Trainee USS Centris-A

    Back in time, again!

Hi to all! My real name is Roberto, 46 years old from Italy and a long term fan of Star trek .I've loved Original series, DS9 and even Discovery! I've made the Academy here at '118, several months ago, with my once PC Kol'Vat. Then due to familiar matters I have to interrupt the game, leaving me with the desire to return to write. Now, I'm here again to join this Amazing game, in search for a ship for my PC. Exactly, my pc, this time...He's a Trill, an unjoined Trill who's lived an hard life of loss of opprtunity due to the incompatibility with the symbiont. This lack brang Jillrod to the StarFleet and (i hope) to science department. Well, that's all by now! I hope to meet here my new collegues of course. Best Trill wishes Roberto
  12. Hello everyone! I am Joe and I will be simming as Ari Tullus, a Trill. Ari knew from a young age that he wanted to be joined with Tullus and worked towards that end. When he was joined it was the greatest day of his life. Tullus has had 8 previous hosts and is nearing 500 years of life, which is old even by Trill standards. Ari was chosen as the final host of Tullus, a fact which weighs heavily on his mind. He takes this responsibility very seriously and strives to seek out new experiences so the final life of Tullus is as full and successful as possible. With the ability to access 500 years of memories and experience, Ari is considered a wise advisor and trusted friend. Because Ari has so many experiences he has been willing to accept any assignment Star Fleet feels he is most suited for, though he dreams of being a starship captain. The goal is to be the best, explore strange new worlds, and ensure Tullus shuffles off the mortal coil with no regrets.
  13. Hiya everyone, My name is Jori Nyseth, as per the title, and I'm happy to have been accepted into the Starfleet Academy. And it's so good to see so many fellow Bajorans here. I am hoping to be accepted as a Science Officer. I've always be a massive fan of Ensign Ro, she was one of the first Bajorans to join Starfleet and escape the prison which is Bajor. I believe her Pah was always clean, despite what the media at home have said. Is there any other Bajorans joining on September 18th? Anyone planning on seeing the sights of San Francisco afterwards and show these humans how to PARTY!!!!
  14. I'm thinking of joining soon, and have written my creative writing sample. Reading the assignment back, I'm not so sure what is meant with narrative style. I've interpreted it as a story with the structure of a story, i.e. Intro - Body - Conclusion. But reading it back, I think maybe the layout of the story is meant, i.e. write it like a book, not as the RPG sim style, which I've done. Am I interpreting it right? Should I rewrite my writing sample?
  15. Ensign Malko is looking forward to joining the ranks, and meeting fellow classmates.
  16. Hello all, I'm looking at playing a Trill but have hit a stumbling block: Application and training to Join with a Symbiont and to become a Starfleet Officer both occur during one's early 20s. How have previous Joined Trill players reconciled the two? I assume Starfleet doesn't just let cadets/ensigns take extended leave that may result in a totally different person than the one they just vetted and trained. Suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated, thank you!
  17. Hey everyone. Real life got in the way of things for a long while but I am back with a different Character. Looking forward to simming with you all again.
  18. I Posted this here as I am having a hard time navigating the site and forums, many I cant view or post in and I'm waiting to be approved or something 0n this site. I'm playing as T'Katt Dugoras. So here's it all. I got approved and have started training but something aren't working right it seems. 1. I got an email telling me I was added to a google group, but if I click that link it take me to a page saying I cant view the group as I am not a member and it want me to sign into gmail, but I get all the emails from that group in my yahoo inbox and replying seems to work fine. Whats the deal with this and how does it affect my simming properly? is Yahoo not a good Email for this system? 2. I noticed in peoples reply emails its listed with their names before the title or subject line example: [sb118-acedemy2] Cadet so-n-so (: or -) Title or subject But mine appears [sb118-acedemy2] title or subject Is this due to a setting I am not aware of or because I cant view the group from that link? 3. The whole needing approved for the forums thing, I hit sign up filled out the info used the name CoryCodeRed as its my generic online handle and went to my email for the verification part but it took me to a screen saying i needed approved still and today as well I can only access as guest. not sure if this is just due to some delayed reactions or something else. Other than this I am enjoying the experience and hope to get things sorted out for the future
  19. Just wondering is the training for the 12th still on? Im from the UK so for me the training might start later in the day but just wanted to know if its still on as cant wait to get started with my fellow cadets today
  20. Hey folks, As a newly accepted eagerly awaiting my training cadet, I would like to say thank you for the chance to join this crew. I am a hardcore sci-fi fan, star trek being top of that particular pile. I would have to say my favorite is DS9 and Voyager. I have never actually simmed before but i have been involved in various forms of online rp, so I am hoping the shoe fits. Regards, th'Zarath Keval.
  21. Hey there, I'm Dave Young from Scotland and this will be my first ever role play haha I have been an avid fan of each of the Star Trek series since I was very young, particularly TNG and VOY. I also enjoy creative writing so naturally when I stumbled across the existence of this community I applied immediately! I'm really looking forward to participating in the training sessions to learn the ropes, then progressing into a role within the United Federation of Planets. My plan is to create a character of the same name as myself who specializes in the sciences. Perhaps a stellar cartographer. At the very least I would love to play the part of a character holding a tricorder rather than a phaser on away missions haha
  22. Hi there, I recently applied and was accepted into the Sim. I'm Lex and will be playing a Bajoran medical officer. I'm a massive Trek nerd and grew up watching TNG and DS9, I stumbled across your group on a facebook banner ad and thought I would give it a go. I am super excited to be part of the fun Lex (Lesko Aika)
  23. Didn't see a thread relating to starting characters, with this subject, so I was curious about it. I'm aware most you (besides NPCs) are all officers who went through the usual Academy process. But, do you have an option for someone that may be prior-enlisted, or who's enlisted or might seek a warrant or commission that way? Reason I'm asking is that your rank chart has enlisted/NCO's and Warrants. Nothing wrong with being an Ensign (if one graduates.), but I was thinking of my own character being enlisted years beforehand, and then choosing to attend the academy, in his backstory. Not attempting to be over-experienced, it's just a thought, given some long-lived species. Take Tuvok, joining Starfleet in the 23rd century, leaving, and then re-joining in the 24th for instance. I'll be young, relative to an El-Aurian, but older then a Human for instance (50-odd years old). So something similar wouldn't be unexplained. But if it's too complicated then that's all fine. I'll go the typical route, since simple is good. Back to the overall subject though, maybe someday someone new will just want to start out as a Crewman eh? That may not be the most exciting or interactive experience I realise since most seem to focus on the senior officers, but not everyone is keen to be the Captain. (Well, only if we can be like Scotty and Spock with the rank, but not the position, heh.)
  24. Apologies in advance if this isn't the correct area to post this. I applied to join a few days ago, and have training scheduled on Monday I believe. A few minutes ago I was browsing through the Lifeforms Index, to see if there was any species that'd be fun to play and I spotted the Xindi, after having a laugh picturing an Aquatic trying to go through a Jeffries tube, I started reading up on them and the Xindi-Avians caught my eye. However the Cadets area of the main website states that abilities such as flying aren't allowed, but the ILI (correct term) has them under allowed. Is this just a mixup or are they actually allowed? As that'd be a very interesting, albeit difficult, choice. Thanks.
  25. Hi guys. I have a small confession to make.... It took a full 2 weeks after finding this group deciding if I should join or not because I was unsure if I would be able to give good quality simulations and I am quite shy at first about new people. That being said...now that I 'pulled the trigger' and joined up...I'm having a blast in the training sim and am stoked to start simmimg on a ship itself. The training CO/FO are great and my simming is going well. I believe I made the right choice in signing up. See you out in the galaxy.
