  2. Welcome to the fleet! Glad to have you all here writing with us.
  3. Lt JG Serala: The Hunt ((Bridge, Deck 1, USS Atlantis, NCC-74682, In Orbit around Lydor V)) Brell: Alright everyone, the hunt has begun. We aim not to destroy that ship but capture it and recover our people aboard. Dermont: response Serala: Au’e Riov! (Romulan: emphatic affirmative; Aye, Captain!) Brell: Take us out of orbit, signal The Observer, and our shuttle that we are leaving for awhile. :: Serala had forgotten again that she was supposed to be speaking Federation Standard, not Romulan; an old habit that sometimes reared its head when she was particularly excited or angry. Or, in this case, both. :: Serala: Au’e Riov! :: Sending the signal to The Observer, she turned her attention to her sensors, activation her subroutine and almost immediately getting a lock on the ship. :: Serala: I have them, Captain. Bearing 347 mark 065 mark 16. Range one-hundred thousand kilometers. Brell: Full impulse to that location! Gixu: Pulling from orbit, pursuit course laid in sir! Termine: Wait sir! Incoming transmission from Commander Tel-ar. Tel-ar: =/\= Cmdr. Tel-ar to the USS Atlantis. Emergency beam up authorized for Ensign Knight. Transport him directly to sickbay. =/\= oO Swell. And I was just starting to like that kid. Now he wants to go and pull a Raga on me! Oo Termine: I’ll need a few seconds to grab him captain, just one second! Brell: Take your time to do it right, but make it quick Ensign. Gixu: We’ve got to GO Dante, we’re going to loose them! ::The moments ticked by tensely. That ship with their chief Tactical/Security officer, and the their most senior Marine aboard it was slipping away, as was their ability to attempt to detect them.:: oO Come on! My dead ancestors could do it faster! Oo :: Not really, of course. Ensign Termine seemed to be quite capable at his job, but having smelled blood, she was like a shark ready to kill it’s prey. Of course, she couldn’t kill this prey. The Captain had already ordered them to take the ship, not destroy it. Still… :: Termine: Transport finished! Brell: Re-engage pursuit course. Gixu: You got it Captain! ::Soon they were open space and able to go to warp. Brell: Lieutenant Serala, focus your efforts on your cloak detection scheme. As well as be ready to target their engines. I know you will use a gentle touch to keep that thing in one piece but make sure they can’t go anywhere. Serala: Aye, sir! oO At least I said it in Federation Standard that time. Gentle touch, my rear. I guess if I must. Oo ::Pivoting to the Engineering station at the forward starboard side of the bridge near the doors to his ready room, Captain Brell next addressed the Chief Engineer. :: Brell: I need us ready to go to warp at moments notice, even if we are not yet in the stellar particle free corridor yet. Dermont: response ::Next he looked to the OPS station at the port rear of the the Bridge.:: Brell: Ensign, keep watch for the signal transponders of our away team members. We should be able to get a lock on them through the cloak that way as well. Between that, and Serala’s efforts we should be able to triaxlate their exact location and spatial alignment. oO Nice thinking. But, then that’s why he’s the Captain and You are still the Junior Tactical Officer. Oo Termine: Aye captain, ::Turning to Serala:: I’ll try to see if I can pick up a transponder lock from some long-range sweeps but if the ship is cloaked, it will be unlikely since most of the energy inside a cloak gets reflected back inwards but I think I just might have an idea. That just might do the trick. Serala: That would be extremely useful. What do you have in mind? Termine: :: walking over to join her at her console :: Well, remember the transmission from The Observer that I picked up earlier? If they’re still listening from that signal, we may be able to provoke a response from them. They’ll most likely disguise the carrier wave in the noise the same as the original. If we can pick it up we’ll be able to triangulate a rough place of origin and even may be able to find their cloak frequency based on the disturbances created then the signal passes through their cloak. Serala: That would be very helpful. Especially if they make it into that particle-free zone. My program loses all integrity if that happens. Termine: I’ll patch all my data through your console Lieutenant, and free up every joule of energy I can for the sweep, just let me know if you need anything. Serala: Make it happen, Ensign. I want this ship! :: As he walked back to his own station, she thought of the 27 lives lost when these robots attacked her ship Just a few short weeks ago. She had failed to detect the ship until it was just too late. That slip had cost those people their lives. She would not fail her ship and crew again. Nor would she let her best friend and Captain McKnight be captured during what was supposed to be a boarding action. :: Brell: I couldn't agree more Lieutenant. 4. MSPNPC Arch Captain Rrytarr - They want to start a Holy War! ((Beta Quadrant, Par'tha Expanse, Ranae Toxas System, Lydor V, Rrenkhetha, Docks, Tempest's Herald, Gangway)) Williams: Something like that?! :: he pointed at the city that was only a few hundred meters away but was suddenly covered in a large dust cloud:: What is going on in the city! :: Though they were well underway as the new arrival pointed out to the rest of them that something was wrong in the port they just left, Rrytarr cast his gaze back out at the holy city. Eyes widening as he saw dust clouds rising up from within the heart of it. :: Williams: Should we turn back captain? Rrytarr: No, our mission is to bring the truth of the Mother to others. The clergy within the city can tend to any wounded. And if it is they're time to join the Mother it is not our place to prevent it. Williams: I understand captain, but the people might need our help. Rrytarr: And there are those in Rrenkhetha who can aid them. Do I need to question my decision to bring you aboard Alik? ::Alex held up his arms, in acquiescence and Rrytarr accepted it.:: Williams: No need sir. I will follow your orders with the Mother as my witness! Rrytarr: Good. Now..let us all focus on...::Suddenly a disturbance in the city sent up even thicker clouds of dust, debris and from where they were the highest spires of the coral temple to the Mother began to crumble and fall to the ground:: Rrytarr: By the Mother! ::Tall waves began emanating from the massive island as the tremors expanded out beyond the landmass, kicking up the seas around their holy city. Seeing the temple suffer damage he stared, wide eyed at it. Did they do something wrong? Had the Mother become upset with them so much that she would destroy her own city? These questions and more raced through his mind as he watched several ships flee the docks that were breaking apart around them. Most capsizing from the high waves and turning over. But one sailed smoothly out of the turmoil. A vessel that brought a narrowed gaze from the Arch Captain. The Gub'kôj faithship was sailing out of the bay swiftly.:: oO We didn't do anything..it must have been those cursed Gub'kôji! Oo Rrytarr: Rurog! Bring us about hard! ::He pointed a webbed finger out towards the massive faithship still in the Bay of the Mother:: Rrytarr: Brothers and sisters, I do not know why our beloved city is being harmed. But I would bet my life that it is because of that! Gub'kôj has always been envious of the Mother...and now his infernal followers have attacked our holiest of cities. Williams/Sotak/Danara: responses Rrytarr: No Alik. We are not returning to the city. We're going to sink that accursed faithship! All hands, battle stations! ::The Arch Captain rushed up the steps to the helm, wresting it away from Rurog to guide their ship back towards the mouth of the Bay. His voice bellowing out far deeper than ever in his fanatical rage.:: Rrytarr: Ready harpoons and javelins! We're going to ram that ship! ::The Tempest's Herald titled from the hard turn but quickly came about and the sails caught the wind once more. Propelling the large copper clad ship back towards the mouth of the Bay. The slightly larger Gub'kôj faithship could clearly be seen now, its mass, pushing aside smaller wooden boats and rafts trying to escape the harbor. One was even crushed under its prow. Rrytarr turned the Herald so that it would be in position to ram into the starboard side of the other faithship the moment it came out of the harbor.:: Rrytarr: If the Gub'kôji want a holy war, they'll get one!! ((Tags/TBC)) ============================== MSPNPC Rrytarr Arch Captain of the Rrenkhethan Faithship, Tempest's Herald as humbly simmed by Lieutenant Toryn Raga Chief of Security and Tactical USS Atlantis NCC-74682 Writer ID: A239410TR0
  5. I'll start things off with Brell's newly made image. His suit was freshly made and tailored to fit, by a nice shop on SB118 he has enjoyed going to for years. He was pleased to find it was still there after the stations recent refit as the owner knew how to make a suit that fit just right.
  6. Heya everyone With the awards season at SB118 once again here. The question on everyone's mind is... What will you wear to the event? Your dress whites? A gown or elegant dress? A Terran style tuxedo that are so popular across the Federation? Formal wear from your character's homeworld? There is still time to make an image request if you wish to add something new to your profile wiki, and join in the fun here on the forums, sharing your characters formal wear image here, and show it off as a temporary profile pic. The awards season is filled with merriment, excitement, and fun where we come together as a fleet to celebrate our achievements of the past year.
  7. Congratulations to you both, and Welcome to the Fleet!
  8. Ensign Sotak - Adaptation (( Sotak’s Quarters, Deck 5, USS Atlantis )) (( ooc: this takes place after Sotak receives her physical alterations on the second day of the voyage to Lydor V )) :: After waking up in a biobed in sickbay, Sotak left sickbay’s alpha shift personnel to hurriedly return to her quarters, where she’d intended to deal with whatever reactions she had to the alterations. It was a procedure she would only do in her solitude and not in front of others. It could be that she had no big or relevant reactions, but whichever she did have she would rather deal with on her own. :: :: As she entered her room she stood a few metres from the entrance and breathed in deeply, eyes closed. That way she calmed her bodily reactions to her hurriedness and wonderings. Once she believed she was in the proper state of mind she stepped into her bathroom and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She knew how it was a strange experience for the brain to not be able to find itself after a dramatic change in appearance, and she preferred to go through that in her own company and not in sickbay full of expecting doctors and nurses. :: :: Her new skin was paler than Jann’s had been, a result of female Lydorian physiology, if their current information was to be believed. Their skin colour would be coherent with a nearby island to where they were actually beaming in to so as to appear as travellers for their own convenience. :: :: She touched the new gills on her neck while studying her webbed hands and feet. The nurses had removed her shoes before the procedure, and she had carried them to her quarters by hand when she left, since they were no longer usable. Every of these aspects was completely out of the ordinary for her, and yet she found the experience to be… incredible fascinating. It was not like she had wished to study the Lydorians all her life, obviously, but nevertheless, the opportunity to study a pre-warp species from the Freeworlds region… She did not presently wish to be anywhere else in the galaxy, or doing anything else than this. Of course, that was a limited statement based only on what she knew or cared to recall, but it was how she thought of her situation at that moment.. :: :: When she had finished familiarising herself with her new physical appearance, she sat down on her meditation mat to begin her mental preparation for the mission. As she sat there, she noticed for the first time the itching that her new skin gave her as Ensign Jann had mentioned the day before, but she ignored it completely. She had been trained since birth to control her reactions, and scratching would not help the newly applied skin and was therefore illogical, for which reason she avoided those actions wholly. :: :: She did not pretend even to herself to having achieved anything close to a Kolinahr level of control of her emotions. Doing so would be a lie, a deception, and that was the opposite to her way of life. If there was no logical reason for deceit, she would not do so. And so she knew just how far her control went. She was far from achieving Kolinahr. Decades away from it, if she allowed herself to speculate. Sotak was young, and she was aware of this. But her path to gaining that level of control began at the start, and she had already covered a portion of it. :: :: She would do what she had joined Starfleet to do. She was beginning this other path to understanding, another important aspect of her life she wished to improve upon. She would learn, she would understand, and she would add the conclusions to her memory for later expansion of cthia. And she would continue to do this until she was physically unable to, as the other extremely unlikely outcome would be to achieve full clarity of cthia, something no one had ever come close at being able to do in the known galaxy, nor was she likely to do it either. When either outcome came, she would share her accumulated knowledge with other people. :: oO Return to the present. Concentrate. Oo :: She strained her ears for any external sound she could focus on. She breathed deep before exhaling and listening to those sounds. After this she began to bring forth all she had learned while being in the science laboratory organising and making sense of the information on the Lydorians. :: :: And finally, at the end of her meditative process, she brought forth all her internal conflict accumulated in the thoughts she’d had during meditation and allowed herself to feel the conflict she did not even know how to recognise. She took a deep breath and allowed it to fill her, holding her breath before finally releasing the it along with (figuratively) all her conflict, leaving her thoughts at peace for the moment. :: :: She was ready for the mission. :: -- Ensign Sotak - Science Officer USS Atlantis, NCC-74682 A239503S10
  9. ((Runabout USS Farrow)) :: For Dante Termine the adrenaline of open combat wore off soon after the final decompression fire from the robot vessel snuffed itself in the void of space. In it’s place, there was left only the anxieties of a new placement, made infinitely more unnerving by entirely singular arrival. After all, seeing your new ship in pieces wasn’t the homecoming any Ensign wished. Dante drummed his fingers, a bad habit he had never been able to quit. Dane glanced at his coms panel. It was still full with continual damage reports and all-green check-ins from the marines aboard the Atlantis, but for now there was nothing that anyone aboard the Farrow could do.:: Termine: oO Fighting… all this fighting. First on the simulator and the first thing I do on my new assignment is fire on an enemy ship? I joined Starfleet for peace, not for fighting… Could I have been wrong about enlisting? Was Starfleet just an army in disguise, like all of it’s opponents say? Oo :: Dante snapped back to his console when a hail came in. It was a request to lower shields and allow beam-in which Dante did, upon order from CommanderLydra. a few seconds later and Dante was squinting as a transporter beam glowed to in the centre of the room. It solidified into the form of a Bolian male, wearing the uniform from the Command division from Starfleet, and the rank insignia of a Commander. He proceeded to immediately clasp hands with Lyldra, join their elbows and press their heads together. A Bolian courtship customs, something Dante had seen before, but never quite like this. Dante watched as the two Bolians held each other close for just a moment, and in their eyes he saw only one thing, love. It was that very moment, that all the anxiety melted from Dante. If this was to be his CO, everything was going to be ok. Because even in that small moment Dante saw that Commander Brell, was a man knew love. He was a man Dante could follow. :: :: A few seconds later, Commander Brell turned Sotak and Termine. :: Termine: Welcome aboard captain! ::Dante, remembering himself, leapt from his chair to stand at full attention :: Brell: I thought I’d welcome you both to the crew here. :: He smiled at them both. :: Sotak: We understand your inability to greet us before sir, the Atlantis seems to be full of tasks to repair it and it of course takes precedence. Termine: With all this going on, thank you for taking the time to welcome us sir. What can we do for you sir? Brell: As you know towing the Atlantis back will take another day, and for the time being you likely to be more comfortable here. Sotak: About that, sir, I was wondering if there was something we could do to help the current situation on the ship. :: Dante nodded at his peer’s words before voicing his agreement:: Termine: Aye sir, I second that sentiment. Brell: If you’d really like to join in the repair details we can have one of the shuttle pilots transfer over. Sotak: Yes, sir. At least speaking for myself, I would like to be of some service with the ongoing repairs. As a science officer I'm not sure I can do much, but I am capable enough to handle basic repairs and be able to relieve someone from the engineering personnel so they can get some rest, as they will surely need. Brell: Response Sotak: Thank you, sir, I will arrange it. (( Two days later, Etherieal Pleasures bar, DS26 )) :: Dante held his shoulder as he rolled it in it’s joint. He had spent the last two days cleaning and repairing the corridors of the Atlantis, assisting in the repairs of the ship. Not being an engineer himself he had spent the better part of that time cutting and clearing debris from the halls and the strain on Dante’s muscles could be felt. On the stool beside him sat a PADD as well as a long-stemmed glass of Betazed wine. It was good stuff, and properly alcoholic too, just want Dante wanted to dull the throbbing in his arms. On his PADD was a crew manifest, faces and names of all his new shipmates and hopefully his new family.:: Termine: oO A new family huh? I wonder what they will be like … Oo :: Out of the corner of his eye, Dante noticed at a table a face he had only moments before scrolled past on his screen. Ensign Thayon Jann, the ship’s counselor . Looking for friends and noting that the ship’s counselor was probably a good person to get to know, he decided now was the time for introductions. Dante walked over, his drink in hand and approached Jann’s table:: Termine: Excuse me, Counselor Jann? Hi, I’m Ensign Dante Termine. I’ve just been assigned aboard the Atlantis. You know, one of the ones that arrived on the Farrow? Is this seat taken? :: Dante gestured to a chair beside the man:: Jann: response Termine: I hope I’m not interrupting anything, I just wanted to speak to you about the Atlantis and it’s crew. This is my first posting and I’m a bit nervous of running into any [...] pas. I’ve never been part of a crew before, or even worked on a ship so I’m a little nervous I may be out of my element. ::Dante chuckles:: I grew up around diplomats so regrettably I feel more comfortable in my dress uniform than my civvies. 10. (USS Blackwell - Deck 21 - Main Engineering)) Little: I would expect there to be little or no help from either side. ::He pulled up a short range scan and checked it out before moving on.:: I can see why you have had trouble, Lieutenant... We’ve been Raspberried… ::He looked up slightly at the confused look on her face.:: ::Once more, Rolla looked across at the engineer with a hiked eyebrow and a quizzical expression. The man certainly had a way with words.:: Little: An Earth term I picked up at the Academy. It’s of no importance… ::He continued on with an explanation.:: There isn't one jamming field in operation. ::He tapped at the panel and copied the data from his screen to hers.:: It appears there are two fields working in apparent unison. This is going to make our job of cutting through the interference that much more difficult... ::Of course there were two jamming fields. Nothing was ever going to be that simple!:: Haneer: Oh wonderful... ::her voice was thick was sarcasm and she punctuated her annoyance at the situation with a deep sigh. She looked at the information he had sent to her console.:: So how do we play this? I'm not a communications expert like I said and I'm definitely not an engineer. Too much Technobabble. ::Little looked up as a Bajoran male approached the par at the console. He seemed enthusiastic to him.:: K'Torin: Greetings... Was wondering if there was any way I could help. I sort of overheard about the jamming... :::Rolla jumped, having not heard the approach of the other engineer. She turned quickly on the spot, clutching her chest with one splayed hand.:: Haneer: Oh my! I didn't hear you approach! ::she took several deep breaths, trying to steady her newly frazzled nerves.:: Little: We need to overheat the multi-spacial gearbox. oOHe already said he had overheard us, why as what is 'up'?Oo K'Torin: I'd be happy to. Just let me know what's up. Little: ::Raising a brow.:: That was a 'joke'... Never the less... ::He continued on his explanation.:: What's you're name? K'Torin: K'Torin Raj, or just Raj really. :: He extended his right hand, the gloved one remaining by his side. :: Pleasure to meet you sir. ::Haneer appraised the dark skinned Bajoran as the earring caught the overhead lights. For a moment it seemed to sparkle, giving the man a luminous quality.:: Haneer: Well Raj, why don't you join me here? ::she stepped to the side, allowing him access to the console.:: K'Torin: ? Haneer: ::she looked across at Little.:: You mentioned something about there being two jamming fields in operation? Is there any way for us to ascertain their frequencies from the Blackwell? Little: Perhaps... ::He thought for a moment.:: Yes, you need to modulate the Dorsal Magnetic Pulsar. Haneer/K'Torin: ? Haneer: Alright, tell me what you need me to do. ::she added an edge of determination to her voice. She wanted to succeed in finding a way to communicate with their people. The XO was down on the planet, as was the Chief Tactical Officer and Security Chief. If Blackwell should be attacked by... whatever it was down there... she knew that they would have a harder time without three of the most importantly people on the ship. Little: You will have to wait for my signal before testing the Pulsar modifications. If we modify the Gamma Ray Bubble Matrix before we carbonate the Gamma Ray Dish, the Photon Control Circuit could be irreparably damaged. ::A resonant beeping came from the panel, he looked down, glaring at the screen.:: That's odd... I'm detecting some unusual Muon signatures in the Thorium Microfilament Conduit. Haneer/K'Torin: RESPONSE Little: Nothing I can't handle. I just don't like the look of it, what it may suggest... Haneer:/K'Torin: RESPONSE Little: Let's just say the strength of the field has increased. It's draining the Warp Coolant. Haneer/K'Torin: RESPONSE Little: I don't know yet... The levels aren't draining fast enough to cause us any concern... At the rate they are draining, it would take over three weeks to completely drain the power before moving to other systems... I'll keep an eye on it from here, but you may want Operations to run their own scans as well. Maybe they can locate the source? 11. ((Beta Quadrant, Par'tha Expanse, USS Atlantis, Deck 5, Sickbay)) ::The conflict that had consumed their small yet renowned vessel had finally come to completion. Their enemy, the one who had laid them low in a matter of minutes and ravaged the Atlantis was now seemingly destroyed. The Aeroshuttle was once more in her home affixed to the Atlantis and the recovery of their home was underway. A small part of that was the transference of Tarva and Raga from the vessel's med-bay to Sickbay. Transferred along with it was the EMH that had been tending to them both. The two resided on bio-beds side-by-side. Though, in the first few hours power was restored the room would become quite cramped with the sheer number of casualties.:: ::The worst cases laid on beds while those less so had likely been sent to makeshift triage centers in unoccupied rooms on the ship. Perhaps the officer's mess or some other location suitable. Had he been conscious, Toryn would no doubt be grateful they had survived. Or wanting to help recovery efforts. It was then perhaps a good thing he could not. He wasn't even aware of the change in location. Nor the sounds of pain coming from his fellow crew mates. He was still standing on the top of Azure Peak, staring at himself, eyes agape and utterly confused.:: Raga: Who are you? ART: Why you of course. Raga: Me? ::he shook his head slowly and glanced about.:: I don't understand. ART: I'm not surprised. ::Scoffs:: You probably think you're actually back on Devron. ::Toryn looked up at the eerie reflection of himself and scowled, brow furrowing as he walked slow circles around the doppelganger.:: Raga: But this is Devron...::His voice trailed off uncertainly:: ART: Is it? ::The double of himself shook his head and turned slowly. As he did the surroundings seemed to shimmer and the white, frigid landscape gave way to the dark barely illuminated corridors of the Atlantis. The Officer's mess, he was there staring out at space. At the alien craft that had impaled their beloved ship.:: Raga: The attack...that's right. We're under attack. I have to help the crew. ::Toryn spun around and saw the memory of the collision playing out in slow motion. Of everyone tossed around from the impact. Of the door exploding open as the robots attacked, slew one of the crew. Maimed the other. Knight. McKnight. Williams. Each one of them had a spider on them, clawing at them. The laser cutters slicing them apart.:: Raga: NO! ::Reflexively he reached out to try and help, to run to them to help but he found his movements were like trudging through molasses. Yet the doppelganger moved fluidly, merely strolling through the slow motion scene with his arms behind his back.:: Raga: This is wrong...this didn't happen this way. Only two spiders made it in...they didn't die! ::Williams was sliced in the middle, while McKnight he watched lose his head to the laser cutter of the bot that took him to the ground. Toryn saw Knight being cut apart before he closed his eyes, a well of tears in his eyes as he looked away.:: ART: They might as well have. They had you to protect them. ::The double stood beside him, a vile smirk curling the corners of his mouth.:: ART: I'm surprised. To be honest. You managed to get a shuttle. ::Toryn opened his eyes and found himself sitting in the pilot's seat of the Lyoness. His doppelganger in the seat opposite him, feet propped up on the console. Elbow on the arm rest of the chair and his chin cradled in his fingers.:: Raga: Yes...I did..Williams and I..we got outside. We took the fight to them. ART: Mm, you did. For all the good it did you. ::The two spider bots that had stowed away on his shuttle encroached on him as he spun in his chair. He saw the transporter beam that he was using to relocate the bridge team appear in the open cabin. Seeing their outline a moment. Only to hear a heavy thud on the front of the shuttle. When he spun around, Toryn saw them materialize out in space before the Lyoness. Serala. Brell. Logan. Jann. And he screamed once more in terror. Rage. Anguish.:: Raga: STOP IT! I saved them...they made it to Engineering. ::He snapped his head towards his double as the bot leaped onto his back. That painful burning of the laser cutter he could feel once more in his shoulder.:: ::The readouts on his bio-bed sounded an alert that had the EMH rushing to it, the red-haired hologram quickly inspected the readouts. One of the nurses beside her. :: EMH: There's a registered spike in his brain activity he's going into cardiac arrest. Get me twenty milligrams of lectrazine! Nurse: Yes, doctor. ::he quickly loads a hypospray and hands it to her.:: ::The EMH quickly injects the medicine into the side of his neck, the tell tale hiss of the contents being thrust into his bloodstream. A few seconds passed before the alerts silenced and the readings on his vitals returned to their weak, but momentarily stable levels. The holographic physician sighed and handed the empty hypo back to the nurse.:: EMH: That worked. He's stable again...for now. Lieutenant JG Toryn Raga Security Officer USS Atlantis NCC-74682 Writer ID: A239410TR0 Great sim @Toryn Raga!
  12. Congratulations and Welcome to the fleet! Very happy to have you all here writing with us.
  13. ((USS Atlantis, Dermont’s Personal Quarters - Deck 4)) (OOC:The day they were scheduled to depart the moon) ::Three hours ago, Dermont had walked into his quarters after a full day of finishing the refit to deck thirteen. He had been pleased with the results, despite having to give a Romulan a secure, unmonitored comm line off the ship. That hadn’t set well with him, but he was learning to get over it. Of course, some brig time thanks to his overly paranoid self had begun to teach him a lesson about assumptions.:: ::He had entered his quarters, rather exhausted, but in surprisingly good spirits. He still hadn’t really bonded with the engineering crew at a personal level, but professionally they were really hitting a stride and that was really all he wanted. They still came to him with issues more often he really wanted, so he had made crewman Yelchin a sort of middleman to filter out the garbage.:: oO The man should really consider becoming an officer. He’s got the knack for paperwork…Oo ::He tossed two PADDs onto the chair in front of him and glanced around at the bare walls. His luggage with his personal belonging still sat by the door to the bedroom. He had barely brought anything out since he had boarded. He clapped his hands together and made his way over to the bags. He wasn’t going anywhere any time soon and it was time he made this place a bit more personal.:: ::So the three hours had passed and now the place had a bit more life to it. He had reached out to Toryn and had the other man shoot him a copy of the holopic taken from their trip on top of the mountain. The Al-Leyan had sounded rather surprised at the request, but had sent it over almost immediately. It was not in a frame right beside his favorite chair. Raga, Lambert, Serala, and himself in the front with a backdrop of a majestic mountain range. Off to one side you could see rows of beautiful ice palaces and the Atlantis set down among them. It was quite an image.:: oO See, I’m growin’ up. Even got me a picture of a Romulan in the livin’ room! Oo ::He touched all the items in the room one by one. A painting his daughter had made with her watercolors. A model of the Enterprise NX-01 pieced together by him and his son back when they were much closer. His old Klingon disruptor, now completely useless as all the internal components were missing. Now it was just a piece of junk on a wall, but he was glad to see it nonetheless.:: ::He stopped on the wall next to the door. On it was a large holopic. The men and women in it were all smiling. It had been a big day. They dropped the largest cargo they had ever hauled that morning and fortune had favored them when their original buy had backed out. The new buyer they had found had paid thirty percent more and they made enough profit to begin plans to turn the unused Captain’s mess into a small holosuite. Of course the actual refit would have been a nightmare and they never got around to it, but just the idea was enough to put everyone into fine spirits.:: ::He reached up to put on hand on the edge of the frame. Three humans, one Betazed, two half-betazed children, six Bolians, one Andorian, one Catullan, and one Klingon...the finest crew he had ever worked beside. They had been his responsibility. And with the exception of his now ex-wife and his two children, they were all dead. Only luck had them off the ship at the time of the attack. He put a finger to each of his crew as wished them luck in whatever came after this world.:: Dermont: Norman...Chesh...Preena...Prium...Gloria...Chel-var...Meudar...Dolmak...Ciat...Gard…::A pause at the Bolian with the wildest and most alive grin he had ever seen.:: Maz… ::It was time he moved forward. Time to stop hiding what had happened behind anger and hate. These men and women had been his family for years. You don’t bury that kind of love and connection. You celebrate it.:: ============ Lieutenant Valin Dermont Engineering USS Atlantis A239410VD0

  16. ((USS Atlantis, CMO’s Quarters)) ::It was almost time and Isabel was hurrying towards her quarters. She had never seen a mighty starship like the Atlantis land, especially not while she had been on board. She wouldn’t miss the sight for anything.:: ::Unfortunately, this had required some meddling with the shift plans, as she couldn’t be on duty while it happened. That would mean that she had to be in sickbay and there were no windows.:: Brell: =/\= Brell to all decks, Blue Alert, we are preparing to land the ship, report to your code blue stations. =/\= ::Now, Isabel’s station was her quarters. She had to live with the bad consciousness while thinking of the two poor souls damned to stay in sickbay, just in case. However, she had made sure that they would be able to enjoy the ascent, while she would man sickbay herself. She didn’t know which was the more impressive sight, but she would argue that a launch would probably at least from the outside be a greater attraction.:: ::Hastily, she changed into something more comfortable, which could easily be a slight bending of the rules already, ordered a hot beverage from the replicator (for once not coffee but a chocolate, but with an equal amount of sugar), took the blanket from the bed and sat by the window.:: ::With a voice command, she lowered the room temperature a little and tucked herself in quite tightly. From this position, neither the moon nor the planet it was orbiting was not yet visible, but it must have been already on the screens of the bridge for a while.:: ::She tried to imagine the ship and the dorsal position of her window. She’d imagine that the ship would plunge belly first through the atmosphere, which would mean there were literally nothing to see until they would level out for the final approach.:: ::The Trill decided to take it as it would come. At the moment, there was nothing unusual to see, except the blackness of space and the occasional star, round as they should be, as they had dropped out of warp some time ago.:: ::After her redeployment to the Atlantis, she had tried to catch up on astrology to determine which star was which, of course with the intend to find the one where Randal was at the moment. However, even though it was easy enough to get the information about the whereabouts of the Blackwell, the identification of white dots out of the rather restricted viewing port of the window was a challenge to great for Isabel.:: ::As she had done before, she picked one at random, deciding that this surely would be the one where her boyfriend was at. Time and time again, she was wondering if he was looking to the stars as well, perhaps more adeptly determining her location and waving her, across the stars.:: ::She waved back, just in case.:: ::While trying to keep the fake location of Randal in sight, which was not easy with the movement of the ship combined with the sight obstruction of a couple of tears, she suddenly noticed that the stars got fainter. Also, the blackness of space seemed not as black anymore.:: ::Futilely, she tried to see the edge of the saucer section. If what she had read about the atmospheric entry was true, there should be a couple of flames, as the atmosphere itself pushed against the super fast vessel. However, it would be nowhere as much as in the early times of each space program, as the thrusters would do most of the breaking, instead of the air resistance.:: ::Slowly, the space between the stars turned from black to blue, a blue that swallowed one star after the other, until even the brightest disappeared behind the reflected sunlight. The ship was rocking and rumbling a bit, but nowhere near as much as Isabel had expected. It felt more like the regular slight hiccup of the warp core than falling back unto a planetary body. This surely was due to the excellent piloting skills of the person at the helm.:: ::The person at the helm. It used to be Randal she was referring to with this. But it wasn’t anymore. If she thought about it, it was kind of unsettling not knowing who was pushing the buttons that determine their fate, more or less. At least she knew that Brell had the threads in his blue hands.:: ::Did it make sense anymore? Practically from the first time she and Randal kissed, she knew how the proposal would happen, how the metaphorical wedding bells would sound and what the name of their child would be. Of course these were all subject to change with any input from his side, but the bottomline was: She wanted all this, and now he was somewhere, orbiting a tiny white dot which had just vanished in a blue ocean of sky.:: ::The Atlantis leveled out and a continent came into view. It was all covered in snow. Isabel loved the sight of it, but really did not enjoy it for its properties. There was no snow on the tropical world of Trill, at least not in the regions she had ever visited. It was cold and stingy and wet in the wrong way.:: ::Soon, the continent filled the view screen, later small towns and cities became visible. The helmsman buttered the landing, as pilots might say. Pilots like Randal Shayne.:: __________________ Lt Isabel Pond Chief Medical Officer USS Atlantis D239212IP0

  18. ((Holodeck 1, Deck 6, USS Atlantis)) :: After completing his discussion with Lt. Logan, Knight had just managed to make it to his holo deck program on schedule. Sparring with the holo program never seemed to get easier he thought as he parried and traded blows with a simulated human opponent. He suspected his days as a novice were nearing an end and the term sex might be more accurate. The match was interrupted as his holo instructor called for a halt and he and his opponent withdrew from each other keeping their guards up. :: Fiore: Excellent :: Clapping his hands together :: that is all for today, in our next lesson we will cover counters with daggers Knight: thank you, Fiore :: He said as he swung his sword upon his shoulder and exited the holo deck. Headed back to his quarters for a quick sonic shower and change into his uniform. He had just enough time left to perform his own sweep of Atlantis before its arrival at the Caraadain winter festival. All he would need would be his equipment in Science lab 13 and his favorite music program. He still Found it funny that the ships intelligence office was on of all places deck number 13, unlucky 13 that is. :: ((Science lab 13, Deck 13, USS Atlantis)) :: Compiling security reports and starting one of his favorite lists of classical earth music, making mental notes to check certain areas in person. But the majority of his security sweep consisted of a sweep of the main computer systems which triggered two separate security alarms both of which he reported immediately as false alarms. He was sure to catch heat from Lt Danara because of this maybe even from the XO. But unauthorized intruders would find it much harder to access the Atlantis computer system and might even trigger a trace back program, that would plant a tracer virus in the computer of origin. It was always better to ask forgiveness than permission he thought as he triggered another alarm. :: Knight: =/\= Knight to security, disregard system computer alarm =/\= Porus: Response Knight: =/\= Understood, won't happen again =/\= Porus: Response :: Just as well he thought, he had just completed his sweep of the ships computer system.:: o0 Almost, done now just for some final touches. 0o :: Standing from his console and stretching, he grabbed his PADD and strode into the corridor. Returning moments later. :: Knight: Computer, end music program Knight 1 (( Deck 4, Corridor )) :: Walking along the corridors of deck with his PADD in hand he couldn't help but hum to himself as he made it to the last check on his list. Shore leave would start soon and he looked forward to experiencing Caraadain culture customs himself,he had made no concrete plans but would roll with the punches and would remain flexible as the time at the festival moved along. Everything is in order here he noted as he inspected a access console to one of the ships secondary systems, it never hurt to double check he thought. Checking the time on his PADD he noted he had just enough time make it to a veiw port, before the ship was scheduled to go on blue alert. Taking off down the corridor to reach one of the view ports on the deck. He just made it in time for the blue alert to sound. :: Brell: =/\= Brell to all decks, Blue Alert, we are preparing to land the ship, report to your code blue stations. =/\= :: The Atlantis made its decent through the atmosphere, the beauty of the landscape was notable as snow covered mountains dominated the terrain. Taking note of a group of fighters paralleling their course, he could almost see in the closet one's [...]pit and would swear the Caraadain inside was looking at him. The Caraadian military presence at the event was certain to be a large one, as it was a show of not only force against the Valcarians but a symbolic show of independence form them as well. He also noted a large portion of the colony seemed to without power, no doubt the cause of the Caraadian request for aid. There was little doubt in his mind that the Valcarains were not involved in this in some way. The Fighters broke off as the Atlantis made its touch down on one of the larger landing pads. :: o0 Time to start the festival 0o Ensign Knight Intelligence Officer U.S.S Atlantis A239412DK0
  19. ((USS Atlantis, Main Engineering - Deck 11)) ::Bags under his eyes, Ensign Valin Dermont looked even grumpier than usual. He had his coffee set off to the side, daring anyone to challenge him that it wasn't supposed to be there. The warp temperature had continued to rise another three degrees, and while still not threatening, he just didn't want to push it much longer.:: ::All of engineering was abuzz with movement. Ensign T'Bel was still MIA as she set herself towards the task of getting her mind right. He could sympathize with that. Anytime Dermont almost died, he liked to take a bit and get his mind right, too.:: oO Of course, we usually do it with an ale or three. Oo ::Ensign Dia was on standby with two teams of technicians. They were going to patch into the colony's power system with a lots of cables and a power converter based on the specs sent by the Caraadians. The younger engineer was to get them set up ASAP. If the situation was as bad as Dermont had heard, they were going to be lighting fires in the streets to see soon.:: Dermont: Alright now. Last checks. ::Pointing to a young man idling too long.:: Get with all teams and make sure everyone's in place! I'm sure everything's workin', but I want tech teams within arms reach of anythin' we might need to bang with a hammer durin' descent! ::The young man nodded nervously and walked away, tapping his commbadge. Dermont almost wanted to grin. That particular crewman had been here at least a year longer than Dermont...:: oO Oh, but I went to that fancy officer school! Oo ::He stood over his console, with two crewmen close by. He would call out for a number every few minutes, making sure his reading aligned with theirs. Occasionally, he would ask for a tweak to a variable and they would nod and get it done. He rubbed his eyes, grabbed his coffee and stepped away. They were as ready as they could be. He sipped his coffee as he stared as the slow pulsing glow of the core, letting the minutes count down.:: Brell: =/\= Brell to Engineering, we are approaching Tiruelle. Please take the warp core offline, vent all plasma from the nacelles and standby to engage atmospheric thrusters. =/\= ::He strutted over to the warp console as he tapped his commbadge.:: Dermont: =/\= Aye, Captain. =/\= ::As he brought up the display to shut down sequence, he glanced wildly about, he eyes darting and glaring.:: Dermont: Alright, that's our song! Get movin'! Yelchin, double check the core stabilization durin' shutdown. We're had a temperature increase and I can't pin down the problem yet. Novek, begin plasma vent, and make sure McGregor's team is visually checking to make sure the valves are open! Last week diasnostics had the port nacelle's plasma flow a little under-pressured... Brell: =/\= Brell to all decks, Blue Alert, we are preparing to land the ship, report to your code blue stations. =/\= ::The running lights about engineering began to flash a deep blue.:: ::The orders rattled off one by one, with Dermont trusting the team leaders to keep their techs on task. He wasn't worried. This group of engineers had worked so long without a chief, they had long-ago learned to rely on each other. His shouting was more for his benefit than theirs.:: ::He stood there and watched as the core's glow faded and then went dark. He glanced over at crewman Yelchin and received a thumbs up. Dermont's eyes strayed to Novek, and the young vulcan nodded. A quick look at the screen, everything went just fine.:: Dermont: =/\= Engineerin' to bridge. We're all ready down here. =/\= ::Dermont took another sip of his coffee as he headed back over to the large display he was using earlier. It gave him at a glance the most important numbers. He gave himself a small smile the was mostly hidden under his beard as everything fell into place.:: oO Thirty-six hours of non-stop...even Novek looked ready for a nap and vulcans hardly even needed sleep! Worth it. Oo ::The was a small and rumble as they went into the upper atmosphere. The deck plating beneath his feet seemed to rumble. He had landed his old hauler a thousand times, but never something as large as the Atlantis. There was a nervousness through the crew. This was new for everyone, it seemed. The rumble subsided quickly and everyone took a moment to exhale. The atmospheric thrusters kicked one as one and he watched on the screen as power levels dipped just a bit as the thrusters did their job and slow the intrepid down through the skies of Tiruelle.:: oO I'm sure it's a beautiful sight, coming in through the clouds...wait...what's that? Oo ::The temperature in thrusters two and six were spiking on his screen. Before he could open his mouth, Yelchin called out.:: Yelchin: Sir! We're got sudden power surges to the thruster! Dermont: Where's it coming' from? Yelchin: Look like a regulator failed from power junction oh-six on the secondary grid! ::Dermont glanced at the spike on his screen and knew that they would burn out those thrusters longer before they would land. He brought up a schematic of the available power. With the core offline, his options were a tad bit limited.:: Dermont: Bypass oh-six and reroute from the oh-eight junction! It's got the juice. Tell Brandie he's got less than a minute to get his [...] down two decks and install a pair of shunts around oh-six! With the regulators out, I don't trust the relays down there to get the job done. ::The seconds ticked away and the overload seem imminent. He could call the bridge and tell them we needed to flounder in like a wounder gull. It would be no real issue other than pride to back off their landing and recalculate a less-steep descent taking into account the two offline thrusters. Dermont shook his head to nobody but himself. That thought was dismissed almost as it formed. He glanced at Yelchin and the crewman was nervously hovering over his alcove, just waiting on Brandie. A light on Dermont's console flashed...safety protocols were informing him they were about to automatically shut down the thrusters in question before they failed. A few button later the light went off and the alert just disappeared. Hopefully before anyone on the bridge noticed. He ran his hand through his hair anxiously.:: oO About a minute...ten...fifteen...come on...Oo ::Yelchin whooped out loud.:: Yelchin: Yeah!!! Shunts installed, rerouting power and deactivating oh-six. Brandie is beginning repairs to the regulators. ::A big grin:: He did it sir. Dermont: ::another grin, but he turned his back to the crewman so he wouldn't see.:: Of course he did, boy. That was his damn job. ::A pause.:: Good work everybody! Tell Brandie an ale on me. ::The rest of the landing went without issue and as far as they knew, no one was the wiser on the bridge.:: Yelchin: I though we were going to botch that for a minute, sir. Dermont: We succeed, Yelchin. That's the only option. We keep the Atlantis together and in one piece. We keep her flyin' and the helmsman gets all the credit for such a perty landin'. Brell: =/\= Brell to Engineering. Good work, prepare to establish connections to the local power gird and begin augmentation as soon as you are able. =/\= Dermont: =/\= Thank you, sir. Easier than I thought it'd be! And aye. =/\= ::commbadge tap.:: =/\= Engineering to Dia. =/\= Dia: =/\= response =/\= Dermont: =/\= It's all yours now. Let's get hooked up and save a party. =/\= ::Dermont began issuing final landing orders to the crewmen around him. The teams were already moving, but man...he sure did enjoy yelling at people.:: Raga: =/\= Raga to Dermont. =/\= oO(Busy day...)Oo Dermont: =/\= Dermont here. What can I do ya for. =/\= ::Sip of coffee:: Raga: =/\= How good are you at climbing? There's some mountains out there that need taming. Assuming you can be pried away from the ship or tinkering with something. Care to join me for some mountaineering? =/\= Dermont: =/\= Um, right...kinda busy. Saving Christmas and all that. They've no power here!=/\= ::Brell had assured all the engineers that they would have time to fix the power here and enjoy their leave, but no reason to let Raga know that.:: Raga: =/\= I promise to pack whatever food you want to bring and can fit in a pack. =/\= Dermont: =/\= Gah! Fine, fine! Nothin' would please me more. I'm sure we can find the time. =/\= Raga: =/\= Great, I'll come find you when shore leave starts. Raga out. =/\= Dermont =/\= Oh joy. =/\= ======================= Ensign Valin Dermont Engineering USS Atlantis A239410VD0

  24. ((Caradiaan Colony, Devron, Marketplace)) ::Kali walked off to Gendra, which he referred to the foreigners as “the old man”. The man was old but not stupid or weak at all. Gendra was the one in charge for their upcomming rebellion. Kali and his mom were the first to support Gendra and in time the group grew rapidly:: Gendra: You're late Kali. ::The aged man glanced over Kali's shoulder towards his cart and the three strangers next to it.:: And you're not alone. I don't recognize their uniforms... Kali: ::he sighs:: I know, they’re watching over my cart while I’m away… ::he pauses for a moment and whispers:: they are from some kind of Federation. Their ship is orbiting the planet. The woman is a doctor and she said that they’re scientist striving to learn more about new places and offering help wherever needed Gendra: The Federation? So they're not taking things at face value. It's good to see they are willing to do their own investigations. Kali: ::he frowns:: you seem to know more about this Federation… why are they here? Gendra: ::He laughs loudly. All for the show. He knew these people from the Federation were staring at them and they had to act friendly and calm:: If I understood it correctly from our informant, they've been asked to mediate between our two groups. I assumed they would just listen to the nobles and take that for granted::he smiles:: but it seems these Federation gals aren’t as stupid as they look like. Kali: ::he nods:: Good to know… so the nobles are stepping up their game, so should we. oO perhaps we can use their help when time comes Oo Gendra: It's good you found them. ::His gaze fell to the bag Kali held towards him.:: Good, you have the weapons. We're going to need these when the time comes. ::They walked a little out of sight. As if Kali was about to bring the bag with fruits and vegetables to the man’s home. In the alley the older male partially pulled one of the concealed weapons from the bag, a romulan disruptor, and examined it.:: Gendra: It's a bit old and worse for wear but we do what we can right? Kali: We don’t have any other options. It’s the best I could find and you know who has the best weapons... ::Raga observed all of this from the cart Kali left behind, relying on his exceptional hearing to let him pick up the bulk of what was being said. He’d hear it more clearly if the market qasn’t quite so loud.:: Gendra: Do not worry my young friend. They are not aware of this meeting and we have the support of the nobility. We are in the right Kali, this is our world. ::In the alley behind Gendra a few other figures stood obscured from view. They were other members of the resistance, like Kali, they were civilians. Of varying ages, men and women. At Gendra's prompting, they all came out and began conversing among themselves Kali looks around, hoping to see his mother. But again it was in vain..:: Kali: ::he turns towards the people and says with a loud voice:: TODAY IS THEY DAY, WE WILL PREVAIL AND CLAIM WHAT IS OURS AGAIN!! ::he puts up his arm and clenched his hand in a fist:: ::In the meantime Marw walked through the marketplace on the far side near the alley where the resistance members were clustered together. He someone who seemed to be his brother but he wasn’t sure about it….not until he saw the bruise on his face.:: Marw: I didn't want to believe it....you're working with the nobles. ::He gestured to Gendra, who was among the older generation of House Beruna nobles.:: Kali: ::He turns around and sees his brother. Anger rages through his veins after their fight this morning. There’s a growl in his voice:: As if you didn’t know that already. What are you doing here? Gendra: You're Kali's brother, Marw, right? There's no need to be angry with Kali. We're all working for the same goal. Noble or commoner, Devron belongs to Caraadians. The VIR have no place here. Marw: No! The Valcarians will make our world better. We won't be oppressed by you nobles anymore! Won't have our mother's taken away to be nothing more than servants for you! The Valcarians will make our world better! ::Marw showing up and making a scene was putting their plan in danger. The vehement tone of Marw was shocking to Kali and the anger in his brother's voice was enough of a shock that they didn't notice that a dozen of individuals rushed over the marketplace towards their alley:: Raga: Doctor, we should take cover now. ::He said as he watched the armed individuals, some of which were among those that had been watching their away team since planetfall.:: :: From behind him he heard one of the Federation people scream and Kali knew that there was no more time to lose… but he was too late. A phaser beam struck one of the resistance members beside Kali. A woman not much older than him, she screamed as the energy disintegrated her painfully. The dozen Valcarians and their sympathizers closed in towards the alley, firing their weapons at the resistance members who ducked back into the alley for cover. Kali quickly dropped the bag on the ground and the people around him took up arms to defend themselves.:: Kali: This is it guys!! Not the way we planned it but it’s now or never! ::Raga drew his Type 2 Mk VII phaser from its holster and crouched down behind Kali's cart. Screams resounded throughout the marketplace as people not involved in the fighting fled in a panic, knocking over stalls, merchandise and one another in their fear. A handful of people were caught in the crossfire and their ashes scattered across the ground as the high powered weapons struck them.:: Pond/Dermont: responses Raga: Sir, we should do something! ::The security officer's head was whipping back and forth watching the chaos and stared at trio of Valcarians that broke away from the others and moved across the market towards their away team.:: ::A phaser beam struck the stall with the food that Dermont had been admiring a moment ago, vaporizing all of it.:: Dermont/Pond: responses Tag and TBC ========= MSPNPC Resistance member Gendra, Beruna Noble.
