  2. Hurrah! Thanks to you, Admiral Wolf, for the warm welcome. And also a big thank you to our commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander Marshall and her first officer, Commander Thoran - we sure had a wild ride on the Centris. I am not sure if any ghost train or rollercoaster can ever live up to that. Here is to hoping that us classmates will stay in touch, no matter where we end up. But tonight let us not worry about fleet placement, but rather hit the clubs on campus on last time. And we shall make it count! First round of [...]tails is on me!

  6. Doctor Spears recently learned why even medical officers must undertake the famous test. He was faced by a practical no win scenario on his own operating table and it resulted in him losing a patient. The kind of personal characteristics that are assessed in a training setting by tests like the Maru can give an excellent window into the character of any officer. That said the idea of the test being more disguised in the current era makes sense, and also fits how my back story is written. I imagined medical officers would be tested with something catastrophic where none of their skills or resources would help them save the people they needed to. In Ed’s case it had been a simulated colony that was suffering from an unidentified disease. It would have been manageable, but part of the scenario had included the ship arriving a week later than planned due to warp drive malfunctions. End result: a terminal colony where only a handful could be saved, and a lot of shaken medical cadets.

  9. I liked how at first Captain Pike was thinking this was all some sort of Divine intervention. As if God was the reason that led them there. Then once they were on the planet, seeing how affected everyone was by the religious cult was quite the ride once the religious lady actually saw the transporter beams and still had it in her mind that some omniscient being was still at play. I was hoping they'd recruit the guy towards the end, but instead traded for the camera.

  10. When summoned to the bridge at the start of the episode by Saru, Pike and Burnham clearly arrive there via the turbo lift. I’d wager that the ready room/conference room is on Deck 2 or 3.
