  1. Stennin, 185 cm. 45 years. Full Vulcan Stennin looked out the window when Starbase 118 came into view. Although he had seen multiple starbases before in his life, this one seemed to be teeming with life and commerce. Stennin looked at his application form one more time. He had applied to the Academy for a position in the Science division. He had graduated of the Vulcan Science Academy only six months prior, however felt a position in Starfleet was more promising. His family had a long history in Starfleet. Stennin's father, Otokha, had been a Astronomy Science officer for most of his

  2. I like they’ve taken the feedback on board. Judging from the brief shots of what we have seen from Season 2, Klingons with hair look so much better. Given how averse I was in Season 1 to the new Klingon look, I have to say that I was very intrigued by L’Rell. Mary Chieffo was wonderful. I look forward to seeing more of her in Season 2. Ditto Tyler. Shazam Latif was great, but the storyline for him in Season 1 ended rather abruptly.

  3. I got a hankering to watch an episode of Star Trek the other night and I selected one of my very favorites. A seventh season gem called Lower Decks from The Next Generation series. You all probably remember the one: Several junior officers are followed throughout the episode. We see competition among ensigns for promotion, speculation and gossip among friends, a civilian and his interaction with the crew. It feels like we get to see more depth and behind the scenes of serving on a starship. It's the feeling that kind of drew me to swimming with Starbase 118 in the first place. Does anyone else

  5. Hello Trekkies, What's your real first name? Yoerik. (It's Russian, but I'm Dutch) Where do you live? (General area! City or state, even!) Breda, North-Brabant, the Netherlands (no, not near Amsterdam) How did you find our group? FallFest18, weird enough. I was part of the Fednewsservice before applying here. What kind of work do you do? I'm currently studying a Bachelor in Chemistry, freshman year. In Enschede, which is a long way from Breda, actually.

  6. The UFOP: StarBase 118 Fleet finished 2018 with 1,598 sims, with a fleet average of 160 sims per ship. The USS Gorkon led the fleet once again with 230 sims written, followed by the StarBase 118 Ops at 200 sims and the USS Eagle at 196 sims. Check out some of the highlights of this past month’s simming through our Appreciations forum, where you and your fellow members can nominate sims, great quotes, and other memorable moments for the rest of the fleet to enjoy! 7. A fantastic introspective by @Saveron and @Prudence "Rue" Blackwell. "No, I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!" 😜 ==== “And a thousand memories….is all I take with me...cause your smile is just too much to see….You’re just a thousand memories” ((Saveron’s quarters, USS Constitution)) ::As Rue had promised, the book she had given Saveron was well loved. The cover was aged, but had been cared for to avoid the degradation of time, and meanwhile the pages looked like they were turned carefully. Also as promised, there were odd little notes in the book. 12. I also liked this aspect of the Klingon language appearing so much in the show. Star Trek and LOTR are very unique in that kind of world-building, and even if some may complain that having it being there so explicitly for so many scenes is just a strategy to appear clever (because I've found that complaint for some reason?), I believe it adds to that richness and that they should actually exploit it. Back when I was deciding which of the main three Elf languages that Tolkien invented to learn, I researched about fictional languages in media, and I was surprised how few actually have a made-up-
